  • Patent number: 4652862
Abstract: A building has at least one security guard post to control the secured building exits, each of which has an unlocking instrumentality, without forbidding their emergency use. When activating the unlocking instrument to open a secured exit, there is a transmission of information to the security guard post and an initiation of a delay during which the security guard can forbid the opening of the exit. The unlocking instrument can also visually indicate events at the exit. The apparatus has an electro-mechanical lock, a sensor which is sensitive to motion of the unlocking instrument, a control line linking each door to be controlled to the security guard post, and a central electronic processing unit. A surveillance circuit responds to the sensor. A security circuit frees the unlocking instrument when a fault is detected.

  • Patent number: 4562343
Abstract: Recodable electronic lock where the coding unit which contains the code and/or other readable information preferably is removed from the lock after the recoding operation. The lock is coded by help of input of information and brought to accept recoding to any code member in a series of code members and is valid until a new, previously not utilized code member in this series is introduced whereupon the lock is automatically recoded to this new code so that the previously employed code member(s) are no longer accepted. The lock is then recoded to accept a new code series by employment of a new appropriately coded recoding member which contains readable information about the code(s) of the different code members in the new series. The potentially valid code series are stored in a memory unit in the lock.

  • Patent number: 4541258
Abstract: Devices for controlling the unlatching and locking of the latch are hydraulic. Connected to a single unit having a plurality of slide valves are an expansion vessel, transmitting pumps controlling the unlatching, a receiving unlatching fluid motor and one or more pumps controlling the locking of the latch. Depending on which slide valves and pumps are employed, it is possible to achieve at will one or more of the various locking functions required in automobile vehicle latches.

  • Patent number: 4360074
Abstract: A hydraulic anti-theft locking device is provided for backhoes and other construction machines which may be set to render the machines inoperable and incapable of movement. The locking device includes an assembly of rotary flow control valves that must be moved to a particular orientation before the machine can be made operable. In an illustrative embodiment, the control valve assembly is mounted to the extensible stabilizer cylinder of a backhoe. The stabilizer cylinder is extended to raise the tractor wheels off the ground, and the valves are positioned to prevent hydraulic fluid from leaving the load supporting end of the cylinder thereby holding up the rear end of the tractor such that the backhoe cannot be moved. The locking device is easily accessible and provides an easy method for the operator to set his own unique combination for locking the machine to make it inoperable.

  • Patent number: 4353230
Abstract: A fluid-actuated locking device for the doors of dwellings or offices or for armored doors having a plurality of tubes for the flow of a fluid supplied from a reservoir, which fluid may either be pressurized to operate a lock or may flow back through the tubes after the release of the pressure so as to allow the locking of the door; a presettable combination is provided to predetermine whether fluid will flow through the tubes thus allowing operation of the lock to unlock the door, numbers or letters being provided and usable in the presettable combination; the fluid is subjected to pressure by a pump to effect withdrawal of pistons from the locking once the preset combination has been set to the preselected combination; the fluid is fed to the lock by a valved manifold which also controls the back flow of the fluid from the lock to the reservoir and works in association with the presettable combination to unlock or lock the door; and locking of the door is accomplished by the action of springs in the lock an

  • Patent number: 4322959
Abstract: A locking means for a trunk in an automobile is disclosed which can be unlocked by the rotation of a key inserted in a key cylinder of the trunk and which comprises a first switch provided at a proper location in the room of the automobile to open and close a D.C. circuit including an actuator means for unlocking the locking means. A second switch which is usually closed is provided in said D.C. circuit in such a way as to be opened by the rotation of said key inserted in the key cylinder of the trunk in a direction contrary to that for unlocking the locking means, thereby it becomes possible for a proprietor of the automobile who stands outside the automobile near the trunk to actuate the second switch so as to prevent the opening of the trunk by any other person against the will of the proprietor.

  • Patent number: 4187704
Abstract: A vault door lock of a combination type that operates on fluid pressure. The locking system has a master control valve assembly mounted on the rear face of the vault door and operatively associated with variously positionable dials mounted on the front face of the door and reciprocally mounted actuators which pass therethrough. A slave valve mounted on the rear face of the vault door is operated on command from the master control valve. A plurality of locking members are movably mounted on the vault door from one to another of a locking and unlocking position and coupled to the pistons of a piston cylinder assembly for moving the same. The master control valve consists of a plurality of operatively interrelated valves designed to provide an output that actuates the slave valve when such interrelated valves are actuated in a predetermined sequence. An alarm trigger is actuated by the master control valve when the operatively interrelated valves are actuated in a sequence other than the predetermined sequence.

  • Patent number: 4019763
Abstract: A safety lock for a centrifuge prevents the opening of the rotor housing if the rotor is in operation and conversely prevents the rotor from being operated if the rotor housing is not latched and locked. A plunger linked to a cam follower is used to lock a door latch and to sense its latched or unlatched condition. The position of the cam follower and hence of the plunger is sensed by plural switches. The cam follower is biased by a spring to normally urge the plunger into a locking position with the latch. A drive cam, actuated under the control of the plural switches, withdraws the plunger to unlock the latch and releases the cam follower to permit the plunger to snap into a locking position.

  • Patent number: 4012583
Abstract: A simple recyclable key and locking system for enabling a pay TV converter is disclosed. The key is a small tag such as might be attached to the room key of a hotel room and is to be turned in with the room key. The TV viewing key is inserted into a locking-unlocking unit which determines its validity, makes the appropriate connection in a pay TV converter to enable viewing, then cancels the validity of the key. When turned in, the key is easily examined as to whether or not it has been used, and, if so, it can be quickly revalidated for reuse. The key user is billed only if his viewing key has been used, or is not returned. In a residential situation, the viewing key would be purchased, then discarded after one use.
