  • Patent number: 6487884
Abstract: An electrically controlled lock (10), including a retractable latchbolt and a clutch mechanism disposed between a latchbolt retracting mechanism for retracting the latchbolt and a drive member (11) for driving the latchbolt retracting mechanism. The clutch mechanism includes a pair of engageable bodies (18, 22) which are relatively movable between an engaged condition in which drive of the drive member (11) is transmitted to the latchbolt retracting mechanism for retracting the latchbolt, and a disengaged condition in which transmission of drive between the drive member (11) and the latchbolt retracting mechanism is interrupted so as to prevent retraction of the latchbolt. The relative movement of the engageable bodies (18, 22) occurring as a result of engagement of at least one of the bodies with an actuating member (32) which is controlled by an electrical actuator (31).

  • Patent number: 6412318
Abstract: An electric cylindrical lock comprises a chassis, an inner spindle, an inner handle, a latch assembly, an outer handle, and an outer spindle. A tubular seat is mounted around an end of the outer spindle and includes a positioning groove aligned with a slot of the outer spindle. When a solenoid mounted in the tubular seat is energized, a protrusion of a locking plate in the tubular seat is engaged in the positioning groove of the tubular seat to thereby prevent rotation of the outer handle. When the solenoid is inoperable, the lock cylinder is turnable by a key to cause longitudinal movement of the locking plate, thereby disengaging the protrusion of the locking plate from the positioning groove of the tubular seat.

  • Patent number: 6046558
Abstract: Latching components of a padlock are driven by a motor between latched and released positions. An encoder element with associated optical elements provides position information to a control circuit. The control circuit correlates the position information with the signal directing power to the motor so that the motor is precisely controlled for moving the latching elements between release and latch. If the motor jams (sensed by overcurrent), it is operated briefly in alternating directions to try and dislodge the grit or ice causing the jam. The padlock shackle is latched into place by balls which are driven into recesses in the shackle legs. • Patent number: 5628217
Abstract: The locking system includes a blocking and electronic releasing device by means of different codes for each one of the keys, it also being possible to modify the memory of the control circuit by means of an operating key to refuse access to a lost key, also allowing access to other new copies of the key. This electronic blocking is done by means of an independent pin of the locking pistons of the mechanical part of the cylinder, the latter being inside as well as outside the same. The key (4) communicates to the cylinder (1) its code by means of an electric contact (9) through which the energy required for its operation will be supplied to it. The transmission of data of the key to the cylinder is done by the electric contact itself (9). A rotary-type electric motor (10) acts on a blocking pin (6) by means of an eccentric (11) and connecting rod (12.) The control circuit of the cylinder (1) has a memory in which the codes of the keys (4) that have access to the lock appear.
