  • Patent number: 6997023
Abstract: Provided is a combined combination lock and padlock comprising a second shackle receiving hole including an inside slot at one leg of a shackle of steel rope for receiving a spring depressible block, a tumbler wheel assembly, a key turning assembly, a pivot assembly, a push button, and a U-shaped shackle, A correct combination of tumblers and a subsequent pressing of the push button will disengage a dog with the slot and thus expansion of the block will push the leg out of engagement with the lock. Should either the combination be forgotten or the combination be changed by another person, a turning of the shaft about 90 degrees by inserting a key into the keyhole will turn the projection and the engaged engagement member for releasing the dog.

  • Patent number: 6732664
Abstract: The locking mechanism described herein is for use in an enclosure, which is part of a product delivery system. The locking mechanism uses existing locks and latches, and configures them using linkages into a mechanism that is not currently available. The mechanism has a latch that holds the door of the enclosure closed. This latch stays in a normally unlocked state until deliberate acts are taken to lock the latch. When a delivery is made, the delivery person opens the unlocked door, makes the delivery, and then closes the door and turns the rotary latch counter clockwise until it latches in the locked position. There are three independent and distinct ways to unlock the mechanism: (1) a key can be used to unlock the mechanism; (2) a combination lock can be used to unlock the mechanism; or (3) an emergency release paddle, for child safety is located on the lower back cover of the lock, and can be pushed to unlock the mechanism.

A correct match of the input code to a code stored in the computer will actuate a motor operated cam to release a mechanical interlocking pin enabling the lock cylinder to be rotated to the unlocked position. Both visual and audible signals may be provided in the doorknob as to the power level of the batteries and ready condition of the lock. The mechanical interlock pin is disengaged automatically from the lock cylinder upon the power level of the batteries dropping to a predetermined level requiring only mechanical key operation of the lock.

    Patent number: 4895036
Abstract: A key for use with a lock having internally lugged tumblers comprises an elongate cylindrical member with a longitudinal keyway to receive the lugs. From the longitudinal keyway extend a plurality of circumferential grooves of coded lengths. From the ends of certain of these circumferential grooves extend second, axial grooves which extend back toward the handle of the key. These axial grooves permit the key to be pushed inwardly into the lock after the key has been fully turned. One of the circumferential grooves does not include an axial segment extending from the end thereof. This groove engages a member in the lock which is caused to move when the key is pushed inwardly after rotation. The movement of this lock member activates a printing mechanism inside the lock.

  • Patent number: 4751830
Abstract: The application discloses a push-button lock to which a secondary key is added to the locking system for use when the button combination for a lock is forgotten or not readily available. Unlocking with the secondary key is accomplished by the use of a toothed trigger plate and a gear system. The secondary key turns the gear which in turn rotates the trigger plate. A secondary locking pin secured to the trigger plate rotates with the movement of the trigger plate and releases the shackle. When unlocked by the push-button combination, the shackle is released and the trigger plate is separated from the gear. The toothed end of the trigger plate again aligns with the gear when returned to the locked position. In the preferred embodiment alternative, an elongated flange member having a slot in which a pin on the trigger plate travels is employed in place of the system.

Abstract: The combination lock has a case which contains the lock mechanism including permutation discs. The case is mounted behind and protected by the locker door. An escutcheon plate is mounted on the front of the door with a rotary dial mounted therein. The rim of the dial has indicia to brought into registry with the fixed index on the escutcheon. The dial rim slopes at about 45.degree. to the rotational axis of the dial and this slope deflects lateral blows or impacts. The center of the dial is recessed and has pads engageable by the user to facilitate turning the dial.

  • Patent number: 4570466
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for releasably locking or blocking a door combine a first element with that door for blocking the door in an extended position of that first element and for alternatively releasing the door upon movement of the first element from such extended position. The first element is releasably blocked in its extended position by removably locating a second element in a path of movement of the first element. The door may be locked by locking the first element in its extended position and blocking such locked first element with the second element. The locked first element is released by selectively removing the second element from the path of movement of the first element, and the door is released by moving the released locked first element in its path of movement while the second element is removed from such path of movement. The first element may selectively be unlocked while it is blocked by the second element, and such blocked unlocked first element may be removed for a release of the door.
