Publication number: 20130174621Abstract: A combination locking arrangement includes a locking member, at least first and second tumbler discs, a dial, and a code change mechanism. When each of the tumbler discs is rotated to an unlocking orientation, the locking member is movable from a locking position to a releasing position. The dial is rotatable about a tumbler disc axis for selective rotation of the at least first and second tumbler discs. The dial includes a clutch rotationally securable in interlocking engagement with the first tumbler disc. The code change mechanism is rotatable to a code change position to separate the clutch from the first tumbler disc, such that the dial is subsequently rotatable to rotate the clutch with respect to the first tumbler disc.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 13, 2012Publication date: July 11, 2013Applicant: MASTER LOCK COMPANY LLCInventor: MASTER LOCK COMPANY LLC

Patent number: 8359890Abstract: A light fence represented by aligned apertures in a plurality of wheels permits the passage of a light beam to a sensor to activate an electro-mechanical control for a lock. Such an arrangement avoids the sound-producing mechanical action of the typical tumbler lock and safeguards discovery of the opening combination. Rather than the typical case of a numerical sequencing combination, a novel approach is taken by using visual pattern recognition to align the apertures. The electro-mechanical control of the present invention additionally features optimized energy use, customizable settings, precision positioning, and an expansion of possible combination permutations by including direction of rotation.Type: GrantFiled: February 18, 2009Date of Patent: January 29, 2013Inventor: Michael Brent Kitchen

Patent number: 8047032Abstract: A combination lock includes an outer case with an inner case received therein and the outer case has a chamber which communicates with a passage in which a latch is received. A spring is mounted to the latch and provides a force to move the latch in a direction away from the chamber. A front unit having two disks is located in the first chamber and a rear unit having two disks is located in the second chamber. The two disks of the front unit drive each other and the two disks of the rear unit drive each other. A first dial plate drives one of the disks of the front unit and a second dial plate drives one of the disks of the rear unit. When the notches are in alignment with each other, the end piece of the latch can pass through the notches and the lock is unlocked.Type: GrantFiled: July 15, 2010Date of Patent: November 1, 2011Inventors: Chao-Hsuan Liu, Yu-Chun Liu, Wen-Kuei Liu

Patent number: 7975517Abstract: A multistage lock apparatus has a base, a disk holder, two selecting devices, two disk sets and at least one interfering element. The base has a mounting panel and a central tube. The disk holder is connected to the base and has a mounting beam, two extending beams, a middle beam, a connecting beam and two mounting spaces. The selecting devices are rotatably connected to the base. The disk sets are respectively mounted on the selecting devices in the mounting specs of the disk holder and each disk set has a driving disk and at least one driven disk. The at least one interfering element is mounted securely on the disk holder and each of the at least one interfering element has a mounting tab and two elastic panels.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 2009Date of Patent: July 12, 2011Inventors: Wen-Kuei Liu, Chao-Hsuan Liu, Yu-Chun Liu

Patent number: 7383708Abstract: A lock cylinder assembly has a base, multiple selecting disks and multiple disk sets. The base has an axis. The selecting disks are rotatably connected to the base along the axis of the base. The disk sets are operationally mounted along the axis of the base and are respectively connected to the selecting disks. Each disk set has multiple disks operationally mounted along the axis of the base. Accordingly, a lock cylinder assembly that can increase the difficulty of unlocking the lock cylinder assembly to improve the safety of using the lock cylinder assembly is provided.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 2006Date of Patent: June 10, 2008Inventors: Wen-Kuei Liu, Chao-Hsuan Liu, Yu-Chun Liu

Patent number: 6915354Abstract: Apparatus and methods for distributing iSCSI and SCSI targets. The initiator may assist in the distribution and order the SCSI commands. A subset of target storage processors may act as proxies. Target storage processors forward requests to a selected target storage processor which decides whether any and which of the other target storage processors is to process a forwarded request. The target storage processors may act as peers. A target storage processor communicates each received request to all of the other storage processors. Each of the target storage processors determines whether a request it received is to execute. A target storage processors may arrange themselves into layers to divide the SCSI and iSCSI protocol work. A distributed system associates each of multiple egress target storage processors with a respective ingress target storage processor and associates a set of blocks of storage with each of the egress target storage processors.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 2002Date of Patent: July 5, 2005Assignee: Intransa, Inc.Inventors: Kadir Ozdemir, Ismail Dalgic, Michael Syben, Frederic Pont, Jeffrey Henry Raubitschek, Omer Tunali

Patent number: 4693100Abstract: A security system having a secure enclosure for holding an object. Access to the enclosure is controlled by a combination lock having a tumbler arrangement adapted for having its combination changed either by hand or with use of a key. The tumbler arrangement includes an apparatus for mounting a plurality of tumbler wheels in a stacked relationship for rotation about an axis. Each of the tumbler wheels has an inner element releasably engaged with a circumferentially disposed outer element. Each of the outer elements has a peripheral gate and a mechanism for masking the gate. A mechanism is provided for maintaining the inner and outer elements in an engaged condition for simultaneous rotation under normal tumbler operation, and a peripherally gated rotatable driver wheel rotates the tumbler wheels. A fence lever includes a nose for contact with the driver wheel and a fence for contact with the tumbler wheels.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 1986Date of Patent: September 15, 1987Assignee: Art Metal U.S.A., Inc.Inventor: Leonard R. Patent number: 4201068Abstract: A combination lock having a box inside which is located a sliding latch having a ratchet operated by a pinion operated from outside. The pinion being slidable to enter a round hole in a plurality of rotating members operating as a coding device, the pinion being adapted to rotate only when it is in said round holes. The combination members have the remaining holes of a section that blocks the pinion rotation so that only when all the combination members offer their circular holes is possible to rotate the pinion and so operate the latch.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 1978Date of Patent: May 6, 1980Inventor: Luis Morana

Patent number: 4104896Abstract: A dial type combination lock having a plurality of individual locking units each of which consists of a locking means and a dial means. The locking means has a pair of discs, one of which is a leading disc in which are a plurality of the holes at locations coinciding with the numbers displayed on the number carrying portion of the dial, and the other of which is the locking disc having a locking bolt receiving notch therein and a pin that is to be fit into one of the holes corresponding a designated number. The locking disc of each locking unit is connected with the leading disc thereof by the pin on the locking disc engaging in the hole in the leading disc corresponding with the designated number for the respective locking member and connecting shafts connect all the locking means to the dial means, so that during the operation of the lock, the locking bolt receiving notches in each of the locking discs are individually set in the bolt receiving position.Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 1977Date of Patent: August 8, 1978Inventor: Hee M.
