  • Patent number: 8037724
Abstract: A combination lock comprises a bolt which is withdrawn by depressing a bolt pin which is shielded by rotating discs having a movable disc pin within them. A selector pin attached to a dial is provided for engaging in selector holes in the discs and aligning the disc pins with one another and with the bolt pin, with provision for pushing inwardly the disc pin on the outer disc and urging the other disc pins aligned therewith towards the bolt pin such that it is depressed and/or withdrawn. The discs have a weight attached at their circumference such that, during code setting, changing the position of the weight changes the relative angular position of the disc pin. When pressure is released from the mechanism, springs return the selector pin and the disc pins to their original positions and the weights on the discs fall, thereby rotating the discs and automatically scrambling the code.

  • Patent number: 7946141
Abstract: A self-scrambling combination includes a frame that supports at least two tumbler rings and an activating slide. The tumbler rings are marked with characters used for a combination for the lock. The lock is openable only when the tumbler rings are located in an open position related to the combination. The activating slide moves a locking bar between a locked position and an unlocked position. A scrambling mechanism is attached to the activating slide and rotates the tumbler rings from the open position to another position upon movement of the activating slide to move the locking bar from the unlocked position to the locked position. The frame can be used as the door of a lockbox and an attached key lock controls the setting of the combination for the lock. The self-scrambling combination lock can be used for a briefcase or valise lock with an additional spring closing the lock.

  • Patent number: 6564598
Abstract: Although a door locking handle assembly is small as a whole in thickness in construction, it permits, through its computerized personal management system, a large number of persons or users to have easily and quickly access to their instruments contained in a box provided with the door locking handle assembly. In this assembly, a combination lock (19), which is opened by turning each of a set of its specially marked dial discs (22) a given number of times to establish a unique combination of marks of the dial discs (22), is incorporated in a door handle (13) or in a base body (1). In operation, a locking member (24) of the assembly prevents the door handle (13) from being pulled out of the base body (1), and is driven to reach its unlocked position when the combination lock (19) is opened.

Abstract: A closing device for a lock, comprising a pivoting bolt that can be closed in a forward and retracted position with the aid of a locking means. The invented device also comprises a closing element (13) that accommodates the bolt in a forward close position and a locking and unlocking device for said bolt. The locking and unlocking device comprises at least one locking element (17, 18) that can be moved forwards into the movement area of the bolt or retracted, whereby the pivoting bolt is secured in a forward position against closure in a retracted position or retracting from the forward close position. When in a locked position, mechanical door-side interventions on the locking mechanism of the locking cylinder or the pivoting bolt-lock do not result in a closing movement of said bolt.

  • Patent number: 5560232
Abstract: A combination lock comprises a lock seat, a dial set, a sliding seat, a lock tongue, a resilient block, a lock seat cover, and a shackle having a movable end and a fixed end. When the dial set is turned to a set series of numbers to work the mechanism that opens the lock, the stopping rod of the dial set is not obstructed by the dial so as to enable the fixed end of the shackle to actuate the sliding seat. The movement of the sliding seat can bring about the displacement of the lock tongue without obstructing the movable end of the shackle, thereby enabling the movable end of the shackle to be ejected by the resilient block. When the set series of numbers is disturbed, the stopping rod of the dial set remains stationary such that the sliding set is urged by the stopping rod, and that the sliding seat can not be moved by the fixed end of the shackle.

  • Patent number: 4457147
Abstract: A combination lock has an array of combination elements that are each movable between first and second positions. Each element 25 has to be in a preselected one of the two positions for the lock to open, and the combination is entered by either moving or not moving each element from an intial or reset position. Then a reader 30 adjacent the elements 25 is simultaneously moved against all the elements to test their positions. Any element not in the proper position blocks the reader from movement; but if all the elements are in their preselected positions, they allow the reader to move and the lock to open. Combination elements 25 are preferably arranged concentrically around a spindle 15 having an external knob 16 that can rotate and move the spindle axially. Each of the elements 25 is preferably a slidable plate with an eccentric notch 26 that confronts and overlaps with a radial notch in reader 30.

Each tumbler has an internal cam track that is operated on by rotation of the driver to establish a reciprocating or back and forth tumbler motion. Gates presented on the respective tumblers receive individual combs that are movable as a set toward the tumblers in a direction perpendicular to the direction of tumbler back and forth movement. • Patent number: RE29277
Abstract: A combination lock of the exposed shackle type is disclosed. The shackle is held in its locked position by locking means that are released when a fence member is moved into gates located in the periphery of two tumbler wheels. The tumbler wheels are positioned for the gates to receive the fence by a dial and keyed shaft, after which the key is moved axially of the shaft out of driving connection with the tumbler wheels and into driving connection with the fence means. Rotation of the dial moves the fence means to release the shackle. The tumbler wheels have a rim and hub that are connected through a friction clutch type connection to allow the rim to be held while the hub is rotated. This allows the combination of the lock to be changed, when the lock is open, by actuating a lever mounted externally on the side of the lock housing that holds the fence means in engagement with the gates in the periphery of the tumbler wheels while the hubs are rotated by the dial.
