Patent number: 7076976Abstract: A mechanical device such as a lock with anti-shock arrangement, comprising a locking member adapted for linear motion. The anti-shock arrangement comprises a balancing member mounted for linear motion substantially parallel to the locking member motion and a pivotally supported lever with two ends and a pivoting axis therebetween. The locking member abuts one of the ends and the balancing member abuts the other end, the abutment being maintained by a biasing means such as a spring. The lever has substantially zero moment of inertia with respect to its pivoting axis. The locking member, for example an armature of a bi-stable solenoid, is held in a blocked position of the device by a permanent magnet. Upon a shock applied to the device, the locking member and the balancing member create inertial forces substantially balancing each other, while vibration forces are cancelled by the abutment arrangement and the permanent magnet.Type: GrantFiled: April 11, 2005Date of Patent: July 18, 2006Inventor: Ilan Goldman

Patent number: 6553793Abstract: A motorcycle disc brake lock includes a lock body, a rotary base, a deadbolt, a locking card, a coil spring, a lock column and a twist spring. In using, a key is applied to turn around the rotary member of the lock column to actuate the rotary base rotate. The engage members of the locking card are guided and actuated to move up and get into the engage recesses of the rotary base by the sloped surfaces of the two prop projections in the chamber of the lock body. Thus, the deadbolt is moved upward, forming an unlocked condition. For locking, only insert the disc brake of a motorcycle into the deep opening of the lock body to slightly push up the deadbolt and force the locking card to move into the slide slots of the rotary base. Thus, the deadbolt is pushed down to have its bottom end inserted in a lock hole to lock the disc brake.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 2002Date of Patent: April 29, 2003Inventor: Tian-Yuan Chen

Publication number: 20020011085Abstract: The present anti-shock mechanism for an electronic lock is designed to limit displacement of the solenoid plunger when an external force acts on the lock case of an electronic lock. An external force, such as that created by a translating actuator, applied in a horizontal direction parallel to the direction of plunger motion may cause the solenoid plunger to displace allowing the lock to be opened without authorization. The addition of a properly sized anti-shock mechanism limits displacement of the solenoid plunger due to an external force or impact and allows movement of the solenoid plunger when the solenoid plunger movement is due to an authorized access. Under normal operating conditions when the lock is locked, the bolt is in the fully extended position and the solenoid is not actuated. Upon authorization, the solenoid actuates causing the mechanical components to be placed in a condition whereby the operator may open the lock.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 8, 1999Publication date: January 31, 2002Inventors: LARRY J. A lock bolt, part of the lock body, extends in a through hole, across the slot, into a second recess. The lock bolt has a stop slot near the end protruding through the slot into the main body across from the first recess. A stop member is inserted into a third recess that intercepts the second recess. The stop member is capable of moving back and forth to engage and disengage the stop slot. The lock bolt is held securely in the second recess when the stop member engages the stop slot. To release the lock body, the lock body is rotated by key to remove the stop slot from the opening of the third recess and force the stop member out of engagement. The device may also include an additional stop slot and stop member on the side of the main body on the opposite side of the slot.Type: GrantFiled: March 14, 1995Date of Patent: February 20, 1996Inventor: Jin-Ren Shieh

Patent number: 5467618Abstract: The lock body of a motorcycle disk brake lock has a first side, a second side adjacent to the first side, and an open slot of a predetermined depth and extending into the lock body, which is divided into a first portion and a second portion in which a locking device is disposed. The locking device is provided centrally with a locking bolt. When the locking device is in an unlocking state, the locking bolt is located at a first position. When the locking device is in a locking state, the locking bolt is located at a second position. The first portion is provided with an open end adjacent to the open slot and located in a locking hole coaxial with the locking bolt. The first portion is provided with at least one through hole having one end joining obliquely with the locking hole and having another end located in the side which is not adjacent to the open slot.Type: GrantFiled: December 10, 1993Date of Patent: November 21, 1995Inventor: Jin-Ren Shieh

Patent number: 5442941Abstract: A padlock, having a substantially U-shaped lock body (1), a shackle (2) moveable back and forth between a locked position and a free position, connected in its locked position to both branches (1a,1b) of the lock body and one end (2b) of which extending through one of the branches (1b) of the lock body. The lock body (1) is provided with a lock mechanism (3) operated with a key (5) and bolt means (7) connected to the lock mechanism for locking the shackle (2) to the lock body (1). In addition, supported to said end (2b) of the shackle (2) extending through one of the branches (1b) of the lock body there is a lever element (11), which is transversal with regard to the shackle (2) and is turnable relative to the lock body (1).Type: GrantFiled: December 28, 1993Date of Patent: August 22, 1995Assignee: Abloy Security Ltd. Patent number: 5379618Abstract: A locking device of a motor cycle disk brake has a body provided with a slot perpendicular to one of the sides of the body. A locking bolt is disposed in the body such that the locking bolt can be caused to move between a first position and a second position. When the locking bolt is located at the second position, the locking bolt seals off an end of the slot. A locking apparatus is housed in the body and is composed of a lock core capable of being caused to locate at a third position or at a fourth position at such time when the locking apparatus is in an unlocking state or in a locking state. The lock core is coupled with the locking bolt in such a manner that the axes of the lock core and the locking bolt are parallel to each other. The locking bolt and the lock core can be caused to act synchronously. When the locking bolt is caused to seal off the slot, the locking bolt is simultaneously aligned to pass through one of the heat-radiating holes of the disk brake, thereby incapacitating the motor cycle.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 1993Date of Patent: January 10, 1995Inventor: Jin-Ren Shieh

Patent number: 5365758Abstract: A lock for incapacitating a motorcycle disk brake has a lock body containing a locking bolt, a braking bolt, and a locking and unlocking device. The lock body is provided with a slot to receive a disk brake piece of a motorcycle. The locking and unlocking device has a rotatable core capable of turning between a locking position and an unlocking position. When the rotatable core is situated at the locking position, the braking bolt is at the third position so as to confine the locking bolt to the second position. When locking bolt is situated at the second position, the slot of the lock body is sealed off so as to cause the lock body to fasten securely to the motorcycle disk brake, which is then disabled. When the rotatable core is at an unlocking position, the braking bolt moves from the third position to the fourth position so as to cause the locking bolt to move from the second position to the first position.Type: GrantFiled: July 17, 1992Date of Patent: November 22, 1994Inventor: Jin-Ren Shieh
