  • Patent number: 5442943
Abstract: In a steering lock for motor vehicles, a lock cylinder having a rotor and a stator is received in a tubular steering lock housing. A tubular end section of the lock housing and lock cylinder is enclosed by a pot-shaped cap made from a high strength material. In the steering lock housing, in a radially displaceable arrangement, there is mounted at least one locking element which is spring-biased .in the radial outward direction to protrude into an inner ring groove of the cap to prevent axial displacement of the cap when in a locked position. The at least one locking element can be slid, in a certain rotational setting of the rotor, into a notch in the rotor and can thereupon be moved out of the inner groove of the cap. For this displacement of the locking element into the notch of the rotor, there is secured along the base of the inner groove a circumferential spring wire.

Abstract: A concealed post lock includes an elongated cylindrical post having an enlarged head member secured at one end thereof and at least one locking member movably mounted at the other end thereof. The post contains a lock cylinder which is normally restrained from rotation within said post by locking pins but which are released by insertion of the proper key in the cylinder so that the cylinder may be rotated by the key. The cylinder is operatively coupled to the locking member for moving the locking member between a locked position and an unlocked position when the cylinder is turned within the post. In the unlocked position of the locking member, the locking member is located within the confines of the periphery of the post. In the locked position, the locking member projects outwardly from the periphery of the post.

  • Patent number: 4669288
Abstract: A lock assembly comprises a stator, a rotor pivoting in a bore in the stator and a plurality of stator piston/rotor piston pairings which are resiliently urged towards a key channel provided axially in the said rotor for receiving a coded key slidable in said channel and having flats each of which cooperates with one of the said pairings in order to displace the latter against the action of the said resilient means so that the generatrix of separation between each rotor piston and each stator piston of one pairing is at a tangent to the said rotor. The pairs of stator pistons and rotor pistons and their resilient restoring means are preassembled each in a radial bore in the stator. The radial bores are distributed angularly about the axis of the lock in at least one diametrical plane and are closed at their inner end by an abutment which is moved aside during insertion of the rotor.

  • Patent number: 4658606
Abstract: A new lock center combined with a cylindrical barrel for use in a padlock. The padlock is provided with a key having a plurality of arc-shaped teeth which can engage a corresponding number and shape of slots in the lock center. Two resiliently retained pins located in aligned vertical pin holes in the barrel and lock center prevent relative rotation of the lock center and barrel. However, by inserting and rotating the key in the lock center, the arc-shaped teeth of the key engage the pins and align the line of contact between the two pins with the line of contact between the lock center and the cylindrical barrel, thereby permitting the lock center to rotate relative to the barrel. Upon rotation of the lock center, the thinner shoulder of the upper part of the lock center is rotated between two steel balls, which then can roll out of contact with the lock shackle toward the thinner shoulder and permit the shackle to be open by spring pressure.

  • Patent number: 4616493
Abstract: A shrouded track slide bolt which is very difficult to breach including an anti-saw spindle inserted into the bolt where it bridges the gap between the door and the door jamb. If a saw is inserted into this gap the saw will stop cutting when it hits the anti-saw spindle which rotates freely. The mechanism consists of a fixed block and a sliding block with an attached dead bolt. If a saw is insertd into the gap between the blocks, a bolt collar will rotate making sawing impossible. At all other points the bolt is surrounded by massive case hardened steel blocks. A key system is provided so that a key is necessary to activate the bolt and the key may only be withdrawn if the bolt is fixed in either the fully extended or fully withdrawn position. A door jamb reinforcing insert is provided to strengthen the door jamb.

  • Patent number: 4570466
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for releasably locking or blocking a door combine a first element with that door for blocking the door in an extended position of that first element and for alternatively releasing the door upon movement of the first element from such extended position. The first element is releasably blocked in its extended position by removably locating a second element in a path of movement of the first element. The door may be locked by locking the first element in its extended position and blocking such locked first element with the second element. The locked first element is released by selectively removing the second element from the path of movement of the first element, and the door is released by moving the released locked first element in its path of movement while the second element is removed from such path of movement. The first element may selectively be unlocked while it is blocked by the second element, and such blocked unlocked first element may be removed for a release of the door.

  • Patent number: 4565080
Abstract: An improved door latch of the type having a handle movable to latch and unlatch the door. A lock is disposed in the handle and is movable to a locked position wherein the lock extends from the handle to engage the door preventing movement of the handle. A bolt extends from the side of the lock to maintain the lock in the locked position, the bolt being retracted by insertion and rotation of a key in the lock. The lock is also movable to an unlocked position wherein the lock is withdrawn from the door to permit movement of the handle. The improvement concerns a chamber having a partition which defines a first pocket to receive the extended bolt and maintain the lock in the locked position. The partition also defines a second pocket to receive the extended bolt when the lock is in the unlocked position. To move the lock between the unlocked and locked position the key must be inserted to retract the bolt clear of the partition.

  • Patent number: 4548061
Abstract: In an attachment fitting for cylinder locks (3, 3') the heads (4a) of a plurality of screws (4) are seated in a widened hole portion (5a) in the lock. A plugging or latching element (6) is arranged to co-act with a sealing pin (7) in a manner such that when the plug (3a) of the cylinder lock (3) is turned to a given position by means of a key, the sealing pin (7) moves inwardly in a peripheral hole (9) arranged in the plug, against the action of a spring (10). This enables the plugging or latching element (6) to be removed. Because of the presence of the plugging or latching element (6), however, the screw heads (4a) cannot be reached in order to loosen the screws by persons not having the correct key to the cylinder lock. The screws connect the cylinder lock (3) to a further cylinder lock (3') on the other side of the door.
