  • Patent number: 6957556
Abstract: An improved disk-tumbler lock and key for use with a gun-lock device includes a key specifically adapted to be ring-mounted so that it may be worn by and is thus available for the user at all times. The particular shape of the key includes those characteristics which would be desirable for such a key which will function as a ring for the most part, including a sufficient strength to endure physical abuse resulting from common use as a ring, attractive appearance so that the user would be willing to wear it for extended periods, and an inconspicuous jewelry-like appearance to avoid unwarranted attention. In addition, the particular shape of the key and the mating keyway in the lock assembly are aimed at further improving the speed and reliability at which the key may be inserted into the lock assembly aided only by the user's tactile senses. The physical shape also lends itself to be easily and inexpensively manufactured using various fabrication processes.

  • Patent number: 5247818
Abstract: A cylinder lock having a barrel and a cylinder and being actuable by a key having a round shaft. The round shaft has provided along its one longitudinally extending planar surface a plurality of substantially rectangular recesses which correspond with pin portions of lower tumblers normally extending into the keyhole of the cylinder and biased by springs and upper tumblers in the barrel, such that when the key is inserted into the keyhole and rotated to a predetermined position to allow the pin portions to be received in the corresponding recesses, the cylinder can be driven to rotate relative to the barrel by the turning force of the key transmitted to the pin portions through their contact with the side walls of the recesses if the key is further rotated, thereby locking or unlocking the cylinder lock.

  • Patent number: 5148690
Abstract: A pickproof lock assembly has two lock sections which can be opened by a single key. The first lock section includes a key plug and a first set of tumbler members which engage radial pits provided on the key so as to disengage the key plug from the lock shell. The second lock section includes first and second movable plug halves disposed inside the lock shell and a second set of tumbler members. The key has axially extending curve protrusions on one end to move the first and second plug halves and align groove-free spaces on the surface of the first and second plug halves to form a continuous annular path. The second set of tumbler members contacts the first and second plug halves at the annular path to permit rotation of the key plug relative to the lock shell.

  • Patent number: 4336700
Abstract: A cylinder lock comprising a non-rotatable cylinder housing and therein a key operated lock mechanism including a turnable cylinder and a plurality of movable locking discs. When the locking discs are in their zero position, that is, their normal position before the key is inserted into the lock, they keep the lock mechanism in a locked position, in which the cylinder is prevented from turning relatively to the cylinder housing. The locking discs are movable by the key to a cylinder releasing position, and the key forces the locking discs back to their zero position after operation of the lock mechanism. There are spring means arranged to urge at least some of the locking discs in a direction away from their cylinder releasing position towards their zero position. With respect to the normal function of the lock mechanism these spring means are functionally redundant. Their only function is to provide an improved security against lock picking.

  • Patent number: 4193277
Abstract: A cylindrical lock with tumbler and driver pins opened or closed by a cylindrical key in which a cylindrical plug is provided with one row or several rows of ".phi."-shaped tumbler pins and the lock body is provided with corresponding driver pins of diversified shapes in equivalent rows. When the lock is closed, the driver pins brake the cylindrical plug at the lock body and thus cannot be rotated. In order to open the lock, the cylindrical key bar is inserted in the key hole of the plug. The key bar is formed with grooves of suitable angle. When the cylindrical key bar is rotated in the key hole, the grooves on the key bar will back up the ".phi."-shaped tumbler pins to the periphery of the plug while pushing the driver pins from the plug into said lock body to make the plug free from said lock body. The cylindrical key bar with special designed angled grooves will apply pressure to the ".phi."-shaped tumbler pins engaging with said plug so as to actuate the lock latch.

  • Patent number: 4068506
Abstract: A hidden or concealed lock for sliding windows, door panels and the like, employing a concealed hollow tubular locking sleeve that is positioned entirely inside of an aligned opening passing through the interior frame of one of said windows and into the frame of the other window. The locking sleeve is manipulated into and out of locking position by a small rod shaped key member that is coaxially insertable into the locking sleeve from outside the window after passing through the small opening in the window frame. Both the locking and key members and openings are made small and unobstrusive; and are located for concealment in differing locations.
