Patent number: 4103525Abstract: A key and a lock in a lock device having variable bit and ward patterns, respectively. The key has two pieces of bit members, one member of which is slidably fitted in a groove defined in the other member, while the other is stationary. The lock has ward members cooperative to those of the key, one of the ward members being movable, and the other being stationary. Thus, when the key is inserted into the lock and turned to its angularly displaceable end, and the position of the movable bit member of the key is varied, then the cooperative movable ward member in the lock may be moved thereby accordingly. The both movable members are then rigidly fixed in desired position. Thus, the lock can no longer be opened by a duplicate key or a master key. Alternatively, the two bit and ward members in a key and a lock may be so designed as to be movable, respectively.Type: GrantFiled: June 6, 1977Date of Patent: August 1, 1978Inventor: Minoru Kamiya

Patent number: 4073166Abstract: A device for opening locks with magnetically actuated tumblers or pins is provided with a housing of non-magnetizable composition and a plurality of interlocking gear wheels, pivotably retained in the housing, and also constructed from materials not susceptible to permanent magnetization. The gear wheels are pierced by a plurality of orifices across their thickness and cylindrical permanent magnets are inset into each orifice with a substantially random distribution of their North and South poles with respect to the faces of the wheels. Means are provided to rotate the wheels simultaneously around their pivot axes, thereby generating a changing, random distribution of magnetic fields arising from the interaction of the inset permanent magnets.Type: GrantFiled: January 3, 1977Date of Patent: February 14, 1978Inventor: William H. Patent number: 4063437Abstract: A cylindrically shaped lock structure adapted to receive an associated rod-shaped key is disclosed. The lock comprises a rotor case having an annular rotor member disposed therein. The rotor member contains a plurality of slidable pin members radially extending into a central key opening in the rotor member. The key opening is arranged and configured to receive the associated rod key such that when the rod key is inserted, the pin members retract into the rotor case and selectively render the rotor movable therein. A latch actuating system is coupled to the rotor member via an arm member whereby rotation of the rotor member causes the actuating system to render a latch movable from its initially closed position to an open position.Type: GrantFiled: May 13, 1976Date of Patent: December 20, 1977Assignee: Tokai Rika Denki Seisakusho K.K.Inventors: Iwao Matsui, Yoshimitsu Ebisu

Patent number: 4045983Abstract: A barrel key apparatus wherein there is a handle section attached to a cylindrically shaped tubular section, within the cylindrically shaped tubular section there is located a plurality of spaced apart elongated grooves which are of the same length and extend from the outer free end of the tubular section. Within each of the grooves there may be selectively located one of a group of different length push pins. At the inner end of each groove is located an opening extending to the interior of the tubular section. The push pin includes an attaching means comprising a plurality of spaced apart annular ridges successively connected together along a single longitudinal axis. The attaching means is to be inserted within the opening at the end of the groove with the under surface configuration of the push pin matingly cooperating within the groove and the outer surface of the push pin cooperating with the outer surface of the tubular section to form a flush, smoothly contoured surface.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 1976Date of Patent: September 6, 1977Inventor: Donald R. Patent number: 3943737Abstract: A lock mechanism comprises a plug slidably to a home position into a cavity of a block which plug has a recess for receiving side-by-side plates.Said block has a receptacle for receiving a similar set of spring biased plates. The front base of said plug a keyway with rectangular cross section communicates with said recess at a position close to the bottom thereof. A key is also provided for said mechanism which is made up of as many bars as are the plates. The plates in said recess have a bevelled corner. The bevel plane of the plates and of the key bars being the same. When the key is inserted home into said plug the bevelled point of each bar of the key engages the bevelled corner of a corresponding plate in the recess and lifts it to come flush with its upper edge with said recess aperture whereby the mechanism is unlocked. When the key is withdrawn from said slot the plates in said receptacle are moved by the related springs to enter the plug recess and block the mechanism thereby.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 1975Date of Patent: March 16, 1976Inventor: Luigi Lerro
