Patent number: 6494067Abstract: A drive apparatus for use with a computerized combination dial lock includes a rotating or longitudinally translating member which imparts motion to an electrical generator for powering the electrical components of the computerized combination dial lock. The drive apparatus is independent of the combination dial of the computerized lock. In one embodiment, the dial ring of the combination dial is rotatable to drive the electrical generation for power output to the computerized lock components. Alternatively, the combination dial and spindle are spring biased for longitudinal translation thereof to drive the electrical generator. In another embodiment, a lever member adjacent the dial ring or a key inserted in a keyway is rotated for powering the computerized lock. In yet another embodiment, a portable power source is in the form of a key and a portable power source contained therein.Type: GrantFiled: May 9, 1997Date of Patent: December 17, 2002Assignee: Lockmasters, Inc.Inventor: Thomas E. Patent number: 5907885Abstract: A multi-functional apparatus for use in an automotive vehicle employing multiple tracks has a housing, a rotatable member located in the housing, an electromagnetic device and multiple tracks. The electromagnetic device may be an electric motor which operates in a unidirectional manner to oscillate a window wiper assembly. The electric motor and rotatable member then reverse rotational direction to move the wiper assembly to a park position, allowing the actuation of an intermittent motion mechanism.Type: GrantFiled: October 9, 1997Date of Patent: June 1, 1999Assignee: UT Automotive Dearborn, Inc.Inventors: Christopher R. Patent number: 5511401Abstract: A combination lock/deadbolt assembly connection technique is disclosed for connecting the bolt of the combination lock to the deadbolt of the deadbolt assembly to provide a lost motion connection while at the same time to retain the ability to position a magnetic anti-attack interlock within the bolt of the combination lock. A connecting shaft is disposed between the bolt and the deadbolt and a spring bias force introduced between the two bolts. The shaft may be attached rigidly at one end to either the lock bolt or deadbolt. The opposite end is loosely attached by retaining rings or retaining rings to accommodate the movement of the loosely attached bolt with respect to the shaft thereby providing a lost motion connection. A compression spring is disposed intermediate to the lock bolt and the deadbolt to provide a separating or extending force.Type: GrantFiled: March 18, 1994Date of Patent: April 30, 1996Assignee: Mas-Hamilton GroupInventors: Harold L. Patent number: 5473921Abstract: A circular rotating member, having an outer peripheral surface, is rotatably mounted in a ring member. The rotating member includes an elongated central slot and four peripheral slots extending inwardly from the peripheral surface of the rotating member and spaced at 90 degrees from each other. The key of the combination lock extends into the central elongated slot, and a ball bearing is carried in each of the peripheral slots of the rotating member. The inner surface of the ring member is substantially identical to the outer peripheral surface of the rotating member but the inner surface of the ring member includes, additionally, two cut-outs. Thus, when the ring member is driven to rotate at a high speed by an automatic dialer, the ball bearing will be driven by centrifugal force into the cut-out whereby to prevent further rotation of the dial to thereby block the lock.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 1994Date of Patent: December 12, 1995Assignee: Ilco Unican Inc.Inventor: Ilan Goldman

Patent number: 5257519Abstract: A dead bolt assembly for use with a combination dial lock assembly includes a housing structure adapted to receive a combination dial lock assembly. The housing structure includes a bolt hold back assembly which prevents extension of a dead bolt into a door strike. The bolt hold back assembly is operable from the inside of the door preventing manipulation of the combination dial on the outside of the door. Arranging the bolt hold back assembly in the housing permits ease of replacement and/or repair of standard or off the shelf type combination locks with the dead bolt assembly. The dead bolt assembly also includes a spring loaded pin arrangement which avoids a lockout situation. The housing structure includes a slot in the back plate which facilitates installation and/or removal of a combination dial lock assembly by permitting the lock shaft to slide into the housing structure without requiring removal of the combination dial or lock casing.Type: GrantFiled: April 13, 1992Date of Patent: November 2, 1993Inventor: J. Patent number: 5257520Abstract: An entry protection device for use with combination dial locks includes a flange annulus which permits removable attachment to a combination dial. The flanges are disposed between the rear surface of the combination dial and the facing surface of a security container to prevent unauthorized removal of the entry protection device. The entry protection device includes indicators to permit detection of surreptitious entry by penetration or removal of the device. The entry protection device includes an anti-rotation feature which prevents continuous 360.degree. rotation of a combination knob by an automatic dialing machine but allows hand manipulation of the dial by a user. The device may be combined with a combination dial having an irregularly shaped dial knob surface to prevent engagement of the dial knob by an automatic dialing machine.Type: GrantFiled: May 19, 1992Date of Patent: November 2, 1993Inventor: J. Patent number: 4682483Abstract: A permutation lock is mountable on one section of a case and is adapted to secure a hasp carried by another portion of the case. The lock comprises a main housing in which a permutation setting mechanism is disposed. That mechanism includes a movable spring-biased locking element which is movable between a locking position and an unlocking position. A movable spring-biased locking bolt is arranged for rotation between a locking position for securing the hasp and an unlocking position for releasing the hasp. When the locking element is in its locking position, it prevents the bolt from moving from its locking position to its unlocking position. The bolt is mounted in an ancillary housing which is connected to the main housing at a rear end thereof, such that a wall separates the bolt from the locking element.Type: GrantFiled: September 9, 1986Date of Patent: July 28, 1987Assignee: S. Patent number: 3938613Abstract: An elongated body is provided with structure at one end for oscillatably supporting an ignition switch key therefrom with the axis of oscillation of the key extending transversely of the elongated body and extending normal to the panel-like key blank through the end thereof remote from the blade portion of the key. The other end of the body includes an endwise outwardly opening recess in which an anchor element is telescopingly seated and frictionally retained. The anchor element is frictionally retained within the recess against outward displacement therefrom and one end of an elongated flexible tension member is anchored to the anchor element. In addition, a guide member is provided for mounting in predetermined position relative to an associated ignition switch and is operable to slidably and guidingly engage an intermediate portion of the tension member.Type: GrantFiled: October 1, 1974Date of Patent: February 17, 1976Assignee: Robert A.
