Sliding Tumblers Patents (Class 70/491)
  • Patent number: 5381685
Abstract: An apparatus which inhibits the theft of equipment such as personal computers is disclosed. The equipment must have an external wall provided with a specially designed, approximately rectangular slot having preselected dimensions. An attachment mechanism includes a housing for a spindle having a first portion rotatable within the housing, a shaft extending outwardly from the housing, and a crossmember at the end of the shaft having peripheral dimensions closely conforming to the internal dimensions of the slot. An abutment mechanism also emanates from the housing, and is located on opposite sides of the shaft intermediate the housing and the crossmember. The peripheral cross-sectional dimensions of the abutment mechanism and the shaft in combination closely conform to the dimensions of the slot. The length of the shaft from the housing to the crossmember is approximately equal to the thickness of the external wall of equipment.

  • Patent number: 5349835
Abstract: An improved cylindrical lock comprising a housing, a lower pin seat mounted on the housing, a spindle, a plurality of springs, and plural sets of upper and lower pins. The spindle is constructed by a cylinder and an upper pin seat which is annular and circumferently provided with a plurality of holes. The upper portion of the upper pin seat is provided with an annular wall having a slit for accommodating the outward protruding wing of a key. The inner portion of the wall is provided with a plurality of semicircular grooves diametrically opposing the holes in the upper pin seat, so that one end of each semicircular groove communicates with the corresponding hole in order to form a longitudinal circular hole for receiving a set of springs and cylindrical pins and the other end of each semicircular groove is formed as a groove wall which can prevent the pins from being popped out. Thus, the cylindrical pins can only move between the semicircular grooves and the holes.

Abstract: An axial pin tubular lock for use in securing portable computers and other devices having spindle-accepting ports. The lock is bade up of an outer shell attached to a cable, an inner shell, a rotatable driver sleeve, a stationary tumbler sleeve, a rear scuff plate held in place by a combination of an adhesive and cooperative geometric engagement with the outer shell, a locking spindle extending through the driver and tumbler sleeves, a retaining plate and an anti-rotation extension which may be integrally formed with the retaining plate. The rotatable driver sleeve is equipped with an internally disposed detent which engage a groove on the spindle, thereby providing proper axial and radial alignment between the spindle and the driver sleeve. The internal surface of the stationary tumbler sleeve has an indented support surface, thus providing spindle support while permitting passage of the spindle head through the tumbler sleeve during assembly.

Abstract: A cylindrical key operated variable code lock provides a shell having a cylindrical inner surface and an orifice for accepting a key. The key may be generally cylindrical in shape carrying a number of lugs thereon that are rotationally variable. The drum is normally rotationally fixed relative to the shell by a plurality of locking elements. In response to the insertion of a key having a predetermined code each of the locking elements, conversely, allow the rotation of the drum relative to the shell. • Patent number: 5195340
Abstract: A lock device includes a hollow cylindrical rod body with two retaining holes. The rod body has a closed end and an open end. A key plug assembly includes a tubular outer housing fixed in the open end of the rod body, and a push rod extending through the outer housing and movable in the outer housing between an unlocking position, where a portion of the push rod extends from the outer end of the outer housing, and a locking position, where the push rod extends from the inner end of the outer housing. In the rod body, a resilient element pushes a locking plate assembly toward the key plug assembly. When the push rod is pushed inward and is locked in the locking position in the outer housing, the resilient element is compressed between the locking plate assembly and the end wall of the rod body so that two notched lock bars extend through the retaining holes and the small-sized portions of the locking holes in the locking plate assembly, thereby preventing removal of the lock bars from the rod body.
