Abstract: A padlock has a shell, a lock cylinder, a shackle and a resilient element. The lock cylinder is mounted in the shell and has a lock rod. The shackle is mounted slidably through a front opening of the shell and has a distal end, a proximal end and a protruding segment. The distal end is selectively received in a mounting slot of the shell. The protruding segment selectively abuts the lock rod to keep the shackle from sliding. The resilient element is mounted in the shell and presses against the proximal end of the shackle. With the resilient element, the distal end of the shackle is maintained in the mounting slot without any external force. Therefore, the padlock may still hold an object in position without locking and then the user may take the object easily without using a key.

  • Patent number: 6546763
Abstract: A lock assembly includes an elongated generally U-shaped resilient shackle, a base block, and may also include a keyed auxiliary locking bar. A first shackle arm is slidably and rotatably secured to the base block so that the shackle can be moved between extended and depressed positions and pivoted between locked and unlocked positions. The base block includes a catch for retaining a second shackle arm in the locked position. To pivot the shackle so that the second shackle arm can be moved into or out of the catch, the second shackle arm must be flexed toward the first shackle arm. When the shackle is in the locked position, a locking mechanism holds the shackle in the extended position and requires the shackle to be depressed, while the second shackle arm is flexed, to pivot the shackle and move the second shackle arm out of the catch.

  • Patent number: 6526785
Abstract: The invention relates to an anti-theft device, especially for skis, comprised of a cable (3), a cable drum (2) specially connected to an end of the cable (11) in a fixed manner and a locking device (4) which contains at least one clamping element (12, 13) is provided for fixing the cable (3) which is inserted into the locking device (4). In addition, the clamping element interacts with the lock (8) in such a way that the clamping element (12, 13) releases the cable (3) when the lock (8) is opened and prevents the cable from being pulled out in a direction contrary to the direction of insertion when the lock is closed (8). The clamping (12, 13) is mounted such that it can rotate and be moved in the locking device (4). The clamping element interacts with the lock (8) via a pivoted lever (22, 23).

  • Patent number: 6508086
Abstract: A shackle lock includes a lock casing, a lock core received in the lock casing, and a shackle unit which has first and second shackle connecting members extendible into first and second shackle holes in the lock casing and a flexible shackle portion connected to the shackle connecting members at two opposite ends. The first shackle connecting member engages the lock core when the lock core is operated to a locking state, and is disengaged from the lock core when the lock core is operated to an unlocking state, thereby permitting removal thereof from the lock casing. The second shackle connecting member is provided with a spring-loaded retaining member for engaging the lock casing. The retaining member is accessible with the use of a tool inserted into the first shackle hole after removal of the first shackle connecting member, and is adapted to be actuated by the tool for disengaging from the lock casing in order to permit removal of the second shackle connecting member from the lock casing.

  • Patent number: 6430975
Abstract: Changing the locking mechanism in a U-lock, cable lock or other tie lock as often as desired is achieved without compromising the lock's resistance to physical damage. This function is achieved by an auxiliary sleeve that removably fits over the U-lock's crossbar or the cable lock's end bar. Either bar provides an aperture, which is too small to permit the locking mechanism to be picked or pried, but which is operatively positioned and sufficiently large to provide access for a key to the keyway of the locking mechanism.
