Patent number: 7201027Abstract: A security device is provided for locking a closure such as a door or a gate to an enclosure. The security device is a lock guard for a padlock having a shackle insertable in either a vertical opening or a horizontal opening in a latch component on the closure or the enclosure. The lock guard has a sloping roof for deflecting sledge hammer blows. The sloping roof is preferably a double pitch roof. One embodiment of the invention has two double pitch roofs facilitating its use with both latch parts having vertical openings and latch parts having horizontal openings. Another embodiment of the invention has a single pitch roof.Type: GrantFiled: January 20, 2006Date of Patent: April 10, 2007Inventor: Roy E. Gogel

Patent number: 7201028Abstract: A lock guard is provided which is particularly well suited to protect a padlock employed to secure a stanchion lever securing one or more doors of a cargo container, trailer truck or moving van. The lock guard includes an interior locking tab with a vertical opening through which a hinged leg of a padlock shackle extends when the unhinged leg of the shackle is passed through an opening in a component of the stanchion door and the shackle is closed by abutting it against an abutment on the underside of the roof of the guard. The lock guard, which provides a protective housing or shield for the shackle of the padlock when the padlock is in its installed locking position, is particularly compact thereby minimizing access of cutting tools to the padlock shackle.Type: GrantFiled: November 29, 2006Date of Patent: April 10, 2007Inventor: Roy E. Patent number: 7174756Abstract: A padlock comprises: a casing; a shackle having a free first end and a second end, the second end being pivotally connected to the casing; a locking mechanism received within the casing and limiting the axial movement of the second end of the shackle; a latching tube received and operative to be moved within the casing; and a stop member driven by the latching tube so as to be moved between a first position where the first end of the shackle can be rotated by using the second end thereof as a center of rotation, and a second position where the stop member prevents the first end of the shackle from moving, and the shackle and the casing co-define a closed loop.Type: GrantFiled: January 16, 2004Date of Patent: February 13, 2007Assignee: Sinox Company Ltd.Inventors: Renny Tse-Haw Ling, Chun-Sheng Wu

Patent number: 7162898Abstract: A security device is provided for a cargo container having doors hinged on vertical axis, which are locked by vertical stanchions. The locking device includes a housing and a hook. The hook has a pair of vertically spaced claws, which are placed around a stanchion in straddling relation to a pair of parallel brackets to which the stanchion operating lever is pivotally connected. The housing of the locking device has a cross bar which confronts the pivot brackets, thereby preventing rotation of the stanchion when the housing and hook are coupled by a puck lock.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 2005Date of Patent: January 16, 2007Inventor: Roy E. Patent number: 7124606Abstract: A lockout safety hasp is provided including a rotational shackle coupled to a top of a body having a U-shaped securing beam extending from the bottom thereof. A slidable cover is received on the body and is moveable between a closed position in which the rotatable shackle is locked in place and an open position in which the shackle is free to rotate. The securing beam is generally U-shaped and provides an opening sized and dimensioned to receive one or more padlocks, the padlocks preventing the cover from moving out of the closed position until all of the padlocks are removed. The components of the lockout safety hasp can be constructed of a plastic or a plastic polymer, and snap fit together to provide an inexpensive and easy to manufacture device.Type: GrantFiled: August 5, 2004Date of Patent: October 24, 2006Assignee: Brady Worldwide, Inc.Inventor: Mark E.
