Operator Control Of Remotely Located Element Patents (Class 700/65)
  • Patent number: 6490490
Abstract: According to a remote operation support system, a physician present in a remote place can view endoscopic images displayed in an operating room over a communication line, and change an image area or a viewing direction represented by endoscopic images in a desired manner by performing manipulations. The physician present in the remote place can thus support an operator present in the operating room. An endoscope system installed in the operating room and a remote control system installed in a control room located in the remote place are linked using a public communication line. The endoscope system has a signal transmission apparatus installed in the operating room. The signal transmission apparatus in the operating room converts a video signal and a control signal or patient data, which are produced by a CCU and a system controller respectively, and outputs resultant signals over the public line. The remote control system has a signal transmission apparatus installed in the control room.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, and article of manufacture for controlling a remote device from a client computer using a digital image of a remote location associated with the remote device. Using graphical user interface (GUI) provided by a client computer, the user select areas in the digital image for mapping to control functions for the remote device. These control functions are associated with command objects downloaded from a server computer and displayed on the graphical user interface. The control functions for the remote device can then be selected by moving a cursor over the selected areas of the digital image. When a control function is selected, the client computer formulates a request that the server computer and/or remote device can understand. Instantaneous feedback is provided by the digital image for any control functions that may be invoked by the user.

Abstract: To train the sequential kinematic behavior of an automated telekinegenesis robot system, a virtual reality simulator is driven with kinematic parameter data derived from a teleoperational device, which models the sequential behavior to be exhibited by the target robot. Sensor outputs of the teleoperational device are processed by a geometry conversion algorithm, to generate data representative of the spatial kinematics of the robot's desired travel path. A kinematic machine simulator program within a robotic control simulation workstation simulates a virtual machine based upon the actual parameters of the robot. The virtual reality simulation program is interactive, allowing the workstation operator to selectively interrupt the operation of the machine, modify its control parameters, and then rerun the program, until the desired behavior of the target machine is achieved.
