  • Patent number: 11392764
Abstract: Provided are a computer program product, system, and method for classifying text to determine a goal type used to select machine learning algorithm outcomes. Natural language processing of text is performed to determine features in the text and their relationships. A classifier classifies the text based on the relationships and features to determine a goal type. The determined features and relationships from the text are inputted into a plurality of different machine learning algorithms to generate outcomes. For each of the machine learning algorithms, a determination is made of performance measurements resulting from the machine learning algorithms generating the outcomes. A determination is made of at least one machine learning algorithm having performance measurements that are highly correlated to the determined goal type. An outcome is determined from at least one of the outcomes.

  • Patent number: 11386270
Abstract: A facility for identifying multi-word expressions in a natural language sentence is described. The facility provides the sentence to each of multiple natural language processing modules including a first module, a second module, and a third module. Each natural language processing module uses a different approach to identify a multi-word expression and a type of the multi-word expression. Upon determining that the multiple identifiers of the multi-word expression differ, the facility determines the multi-word expression using a resolution process, which can involve a logical rule set or a machine learning model.

Abstract: An apparatus has a network interface circuit to receive a source sentence from a network connected client device. A processor is connected to the network interface circuit. A memory is connected to the processor. The memory stores parameters of a multilingual neural review system and instructions executed by the processor to operate the multilingual neural review system trained on a corpus of source sentences, draft target sentences and corrected target sentences. The multilingual neural review system produces a corrected target sentence from a draft target sentence representing a proposed translation of the source sentence. The draft target sentence and the corrected target sentence are supplied to the network connected client device. Approval for the corrected target sentence is received from the network connected client device. Parameters of the multilingual neural review system are updated based upon the approval for the corrected target sentence.

  • Patent number: 11315545
Abstract: A system for identifying a language in audio data includes a feature extraction module for receiving an unknown input audio data stream and dividing the unknown input audio data stream into segments. A similarity module receives the segments and receives known-language audio data models for known languages. For each segment, the similarity module performs comparisons between the segment and the known-language audio data models and generates probability values representative of the probabilities that the segment includes audio data of the known languages. A processor receives the probability values for each segment and computes an entropy value for the probabilities for each segment. If the entropy value for a segment is less than the entropy value for a previous segment, the processor terminates the comparisons prior to completing comparisons for all segments.

The relevance model includes an input neural network model and a subsequent content neural network model. The input neural network model and the subsequent content neural network model can be separate, but trained and/or used cooperatively. The input neural network model and the subsequent content neural network model can be “separate” in that separate inputs are applied to the neural network models, and each of the neural network models is used to generate its own feature vector based on its applied input. A comparison of the feature vectors generated based on the separate network models can then be performed, where the comparison indicates relevance of the input applied to the input neural network model to the separate input applied to the subsequent content neural network model.

  • Patent number: 10672391
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for improving speech recognition of multilingual named entities. In some embodiments, a list comprising a plurality of named entities may be accessed by a computing device. A first named entity represented in the native language may be compared with the first named entity represented in the foreign language. One or more words that appear in both the first named entity represented in the native language and the first named entity represented in the foreign language may be identified as one or more foreign words. A grapheme-to-phoneme (G2P) conversion may be applied to the one or more foreign words, wherein graphemes of the one or more foreign words are mapped to phonemes in the native language. The G2P conversion may result in a native pronunciation for each of the one or more foreign words, which are added to a recognition dictionary along with the native pronunciations.

  • Patent number: 10606869
Abstract: A system and method for event matching by analysis of text characteristics are presented. A document collection comprising documents is acquired. One or more document subsets of the document collection each comprising one or more documents potentially describing identical events are identified based on certain structured metadata fields of the documents. Salient text features are extracted from the documents in the document collection. An event similarity score for pairs of documents in the document collection is generated by comparing the text features extracted from the documents. A common event document list comprising sets of documents in the document collection whose event similarity scores with each other are above a similarity threshold is generated.

Abstract: Techniques are described herein for enabling an automated assistant to adjust its behavior depending on a detected age range and/or “vocabulary level” of a user who is engaging with the automated assistant. In various implementations, data indicative of a user's utterance may be used to estimate one or more of the user's age range and/or vocabulary level. The estimated age range/vocabulary level may be used to influence various aspects of a data processing pipeline employed by an automated assistant. In various implementations, aspects of the data processing pipeline that may be influenced by the user's age range/vocabulary level may include one or more of automated assistant invocation, speech-to-text (“STT”) processing, intent matching, intent resolution (or fulfillment), natural language generation, and/or text-to-speech (“TTS”) processing. In some implementations, one or more tolerance thresholds associated with one or more of these aspects, such as grammatical tolerances, vocabularic tolerances, etc.

  • Patent number: 10534854
Abstract: A targeted summary of textual content tuned to a target audience vocabulary is generated in a digital medium environment. A word generation model obtains textual content, and generates a targeted summary of the textual content. During the generation of the targeted summary, the words of the targeted summary generated by the word generation model are tuned to the target audience vocabulary using a linguistic preference model. The linguistic preference model is trained, using machine learning on target audience training data corresponding to a corpus of text of the target audience vocabulary, to learn word preferences of the target audience vocabulary between similar words (e.g., synonyms). After each word is generated using the word generation model and the linguistic preference model, feedback regarding the generated word is provided back to the word generation model. The feedback is utilized by the word generation model to generate subsequent words of the summary.

Abstract: A system for rapid deployment and configuration of a virtual agent to a hosted cloud platform is provided. A virtual agent builder may convert a dialog corpus into a dialog model that includes parameters that cause a cognitive service engine to provide natural language processing for the virtual agent according to the dialog corpus. Depending on the natural language processing capabilities of the cognitive engine service, the dialog model may be included in the virtual agent or communicated to the cognitive service engine. The virtual agent, or individual components of the virtual agent, may be generated and/or reconfigured in real time using predetermined logic that is selected based on virtual agent configuration parameters. The virtual agent configuration parameters may be received from a graphical user interface that reduces the complexity of deploying and/or managing the virtual agent.

  • Patent number: 10521465
Abstract: A system for text summarization includes an encoder for encoding input tokens of a document and a decoder for emitting summary tokens which summarize the document based on the encoded input tokens. At each iteration the decoder generates attention scores between a current hidden state of the decoder and previous hidden states of the decoder, generates a current decoder context from the attention scores and the previous hidden states of the decoder, and selects a next summary token based on the current decoder context and a current encoder context of the encoder. The attention scores penalize candidate summary tokens having high attention scores in previous iterations. In some embodiments, the attention scores include an attention score for each of the previous hidden states of the decoder. In some embodiments, the selection of the next summary token prevents emission of repeated summary phrases in a summary of the document.
