Abstract: Provided is a method and a web-site integration system to integrate payment mechanisms into a commercial website that offers online merchants a flexible, user-friendly and customizable wizard to integrate payment mechanisms into their online commercial websites without having to understand the detailed intricacies of an API or other computer code. The wizard steps the merchant through creating an account to obtain credentials and educates the merchant on the page flows of the payment mechanism that the merchant wishes to integrate. Then, the wizard generates code snippets and files to be downloaded by the merchant and to be easily inserted into key pages of the merchant's online commercial website. The merchant can then test the completely integrated code in a developer's sandbox or go live with the completely integrated code.

Abstract: A system and method provides dynamically selected media content to someone using an electronic device in a social network environment. Items of media content are selected for the user based on his or her relationships with one or more other users. The user's relationships with other users are reflected in the selected media content and its format. An order is assigned to the items of media content, for example, based on their anticipated importance to the user, and the items of media content are displayed to the user in the assigned order. The user may change the order of the items of media content. The user's interactions with media content available in the social network environment are monitored, and those interactions are used to select additional items of media content for the user.

Abstract: This disclosure describes a system for presenting items to a user at a presentation area within a materials handling facility. In some instances, a predicted items list that identifies items that are likely to be picked by a user are determined and, when the user arrives at the materials handling facility, those predicted items are presented to the user for selection. For example, predicted items may be determined and inventory holders that contain the predicted items may be routed to a presentation area and positioned for presentation to the user. The user may browse the presented items and pick the items they desire.

Abstract: An aggregating server obtains information about a method of payments by a customer and aggregate all instances of payment by that customer with respect to one or more merchants. That is, the server can associate various methods of payment at a merchant with the same customer (e.g. credit card information, information associated with a digital wallet application payment, device identifier along with geo-fence data, etc.) Thereafter, information at the server regarding frequency of visits, money spent, menu preferences, etc. can also be shared with the merchant in order to provide information for increasing customer satisfaction during further visits by the customer. Also, the server can determine whether the customer qualifies for a loyalty or discount programs based on past visits.

Abstract: Models are built based on existing histories in one identifier space to infer features of entities in a different identifier space. A source model is built using features of an archetypical population in a given identifier space and the standard population. A join panel, i.e., a set of entities operating across both the given identifier space and a second disjoined identifier space, is scored using the source model. Based on the scores and features associated with the entities in the join panel within the second identifier space, a target model specific to the second identifier space is built. An audience of entities within the second identifier space can then be scored using the target model to identify entities that are similar to the archetypical population.

A single marker identifies the geographic location for the aggregated content item on the geographic map. The segments are generated from the social data. The correlation is generated using clustering algorithms. In some embodiments, generating sentiment and generating correlations dynamically utilizes models according to attributes of the integrated data. Polarity, emotion and topicality may be calculated for the generation of visualizations.

Abstract: An influence system for predicting advertisement impact for audience selection. An advertising probe campaign is operated by sending an advertisement to each entity in a treatment group of entities. A control group of entities which excludes the treatment group entities is selected and no campaign advertising content is sent to the treatment group entities. An influence model is created by comparing features of the treatment group converters to features of the control group converters. An individual frequency cap is selected for each entity that is a candidate for the advertising campaign based on a result of applying the influence model to the features of the candidate entity. The entity may be selected to receive an advertisement based on the individual frequency cap. Some embodiments are integrated with a real time bidding (RTB) exchange and a bid response may be configured based on the results of applying the influence model.

Abstract: An influence system for predicting advertisement impact for campaign selection. For each campaign, an advertising probe campaign is operated by sending an advertisement to each entity in a treatment group of entities. A control group of entities which excludes the treatment group entities is selected and no campaign advertising content is sent to the treatment group entities. An influence model is created for each campaign by comparing features of the respective advertising probe campaign's treatment group converters to features of the control group converters. A campaign is selected for an opportunity to expose a specified entity to advertising based on the result of applying each respective campaign's influence model to features of the specified entity. Advantageously, a campaign operator can make good use of a rare, high quality advertising opportunity by allotting it to an advertising campaign based on a likelihood of influencing the specified entity.

Abstract: The present disclosure generally relates to a method and a hardware and software system for collecting data from retch point of sale. The hardware connects to a wide variety of barcode scanners and receipt printers. Collected data is transmitted to a cloud-based infrastructure backend system using a wireless inter net connection built into the hardware. The collected data can be processed to extract item-level transaction information, and estimate the price and in-stock status of items in particular shops. A search engine can be provided using this data, which allows a customer to discover which nearby shop has an item of interest in stock. A targeted advertising system that complements this search service is also presented. The data can be used by retailers and manufacturers for business analysis and optimization.

In one aspect, generation of the advertising campaign includes generating an advertising creative using the retrieved listing data. Subsequently, an advertising opportunity is selected according to the generated advertising campaign. Following the selection, an advertisement based on the advertising creative is provided to a content provider associated with the advertising opportunity.

Abstract: Disclosed are system and methods for registering an account with a payment service system on behalf of a customer in response to a payment card associated with the customer being used at a point of sale terminal. The system receives payment card information extracted from the payment card when it is swiped at the point of sale terminal. The system also receives a communication identifier that is entered on a user interface of the point of sale terminal or on a user interface of a mobile application on a mobile device of the customer. In response to receiving the payment card information and the communication identifier, the system automatically creates an account for the customer by associating the payment card with the communication identifier without requiring the user to enter details of the payment card to link the payment card to the account.

Abstract: A wireless device is enabled to provide offers. The wireless device receives card data for a financial account card and stores the card data in a memory associated with the wireless device. Responsive to using the card data in a transaction at a first merchant location, the wireless device receives transaction line-item data from a computing system associated with the first merchant location. The wireless device determines merchant information for a second merchant location and determines an offer associated with the second merchant location based on the line-item data and the merchant information for the second merchant. The wireless device presents the offer when the wireless device is near the second merchant location.

Abstract: The present disclosure extends to maintaining an item inventory status at an inventory cache management system. The inventory cache may be refreshed regularly by a threshold-based triggering mechanism. In embodiments, as item inventory breaches certain thresholds, the inventory cache may be refreshed with increased frequency to mitigate overselling or underselling scenarios and reduce overall network traffic for items having relatively high inventory levels.

Abstract: Techniques are disclosed to provide an item recommendation service in an electronic marketplace. Recommendations may be provided to a user of an electronic marketplace to offer an item via the electronic marketplace based on identifying requests for items from other users. In at least one embodiment, the request for an item from the other users may be identified as an item other than a plurality of items offered by the electronic marketplace or by the user. One or more sellers who offer items similar to the requested item may be identified based on a category of the requested item. A recommendation may be provided to an identified seller to offer the requested item via the electronic marketplace.

Abstract: An e-commerce solution includes a website, created or pre-existing, comprised of web pages each having a single code snippet with reference to a promotion server. Upon access by a visiting customer, the single code snippet is executed in the customer's web browser to retrieve customized or promotional code. The promotional code may modify the existing webpage elements to add, remove, or modify webpage elements and display dynamic, personalized messages and offers within the existing webpage. Through inclusion of the same single snippet on all web pages, visitors may be tracked throughout the website to present consistent messages and carry promotional offers through order checkout. Management of promotions through a web interface and the single snippet allows integration and operation with existing websites without extensive technological effort or expense.

Responsive to using the card data in a transaction at a first merchant location, the wireless device receives transaction line-item data from a computing system associated with the first merchant location. The wireless device determines merchant information for a second merchant location and determines an offer associated with the second merchant location based on the line-item data and the merchant information for the second merchant. The wireless device presents the offer when the wireless device is near the second merchant location.

Abstract: Predicting user responses to items is useful in many application domains, such as personalized information retrieval and recommendation systems. In an embodiment a contacts service identifies contacts of a target user and predictions are elicited from the contacts about the target user's response to an item. In various examples, the predictions are combined taking into account weights of the contacts to produce a prediction of the target user's response. For example, the response may be one or more of: a numerical rating, a word or phrase describing the targets user's opinion of the item and a word or phrase stating a reason that the target user holds the opinion. In examples, accuracy of the predictions is calculated after observing the target user's actual response. The accuracy may be used to calculate and display scores and rankings of the contact's prediction abilities and to update the weights of the contacts.

The method comprises receiving a search query from an electronic device associated with a user; responsive to the search query, generating a search query result set, the search query result set including a vertical search result; determining a confidence level that the vertical search result is the most relevant to the search query; responsive to the confidence level being above a pre-determined threshold, causing the electronic device to display exclusively the vertical search result.

Abstract: In various embodiments, advertising campaigns can be defined that incorporate technologies such as two-dimensional barcodes or embedded links in electronic material, for directing a user to communicate with a call center. For instance, in particular embodiments, the reading of a two-dimensional barcode by a user with a smart phone may cause various forms of communication requesting a return communication. The communication from the smart phone may be sent to, and received at, the call center, where a calling campaign associated with an advertising campaign is identified using information associated with the communication. A responding communication may be initiated from the call center to the user.

Abstract: An email payment gateway having electronic commerce (e-commerce) system may send advertisement emails to customers that are registered with the e-commerce system. The advertisement emails may include mailto hyperlinks. Each mailto hyperlink may be associated with a product that is being offered for sale, and each mailto hyperlink describes an email message that may be generated when that hyperlink is selected. When a mailto hyperlink is selected, the generated email message may include one or more parameters related to the product associated with the hyperlink, such as an identifier of the product. The generated email message may then be transmitted to the e-commerce system. The e-commerce system may receive the message and, based on the parameters in the received message, execute a transaction to purchase the identified product on behalf of the customer.

Abstract: Apparatus, interfaces, and computer instructions are provided for establishing an association between a user and a declared interest, such as a brand or some other subject, and for generating a map to display the interests of one or more users. An association is established between an interest identifier, a user, and target object selected based upon an action of the user. The target object may include a location that may be specified by coordinates. The action may include selection of the at least one location by the user. Selection may include selecting a user interface feature that causes the at least one location to be selected based upon a geographical position of the user. The position may be determined by a Global Positioning System device carried by the user. Techniques are also disclosed for identifying people who are potentially interested in a given interest, or in a second interest related to a first interest, based on previously established interest-location-user associations.

Abstract: Arrangements relate to processing financial transactions on an automated teller machine (ATM). An ATM identifier can be presented on a display of the ATM. An ATM identifier confirmation can be received from a mobile computing device. Responsive to determining that the ATM identifier confirmation matches the identifier presented on the display of the ATM, a customer authentication or a transaction request can be received from the mobile computing device. Responsive to verifying the customer authentication or the transaction request, the transaction request can be processed.

Abstract: An inventory management system processes late transactions. The system takes snapshots of stock counts recorded in an accounting system and receives a transaction record after taking the snapshots. The system then determine whether there is an open stock count corresponding to the transaction record and whether the snapshots include a snapshot of the open stock count. When the open stock count and the snapshot exist, the system writes the transaction record to a staging table. Then, upon proceeding from a first phase to a second phase of a plurality of stock count phases, the system updates the snapshot based on the staging table. The stock count phases include a count phase, a recount phase, and an authorize phase.
