  • Patent number: 11049185
Abstract: An impact-resistant, photovoltaic (IRPV) window system is provided. The system may include an IRPV window coupled to a structure, a controller, and an insurance computing device. The IRPV window may include an impact resistant (IR) layer, a photovoltaic (PV) material that may generate an electrical output, and an electrode coupled to the PV material that may receive the electrical output. The IRPV window may permit a portion of visible light to pass through the IRPV window. The controller may monitor the electrical output and generate a solar profile of the structure based upon the electrical output. The insurance computing device may receive the solar profile and determine if an insurance policy associated with the structure is eligible for a policy adjustment and/or an insurance reward or discount offer.

  • Patent number: 11042942
Abstract: Methods and systems for assessing damage to a property associated with an insurance-related event are provided. According to certain aspects, a smart home controller or insurance provider remote processor may store data received from a plurality of smart devices disposed on or proximate to a property. The stored data may be used to develop a baseline for normal conditions associated with the property. When the insurance-related event is occurring, the smart home controller or insurance provider remote processor may receive a second set of data from the plurality of smart devices. The second set of data may be compared to the baseline to determine a sequence of events associated with the insurance-related event that caused the damage to the property. Subsequently, according to certain aspects, the smart home controller or insurance provider remote server may automatically generate an insurance claim for damage associated with the insurance-related event.

Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for processing insurance claims in a manner that reduces or eliminates a need for an adjuster visit an insured person or property of the insured person. The method includes receiving a query from an insured regarding a claim and determining if the insured has a mobile device with a video camera capable of streaming video to the insurance claim processing system. If a mobile device capable of streaming video is available, the system generates an electronic invitation to a one-way streaming video session and transmits the electronic invitation to the mobile device. Upon acceptance, the system initiates the one-way video session, receives real-time streaming video, and appends received video from the real-time streaming video to a claim workfile. In alternative implementations, the system can remotely control the camera and other features of the mobile device during the one-way streaming video session.

  • Patent number: 11037153
Abstract: The disclosure facilitates a transaction by determining implicit consent for a transaction from a user by a wearable computing device. A request to complete the transaction is received, biometric data associated with the user is collected, and context data associated with the biometric data is received. In response to the request to complete the transaction, weighted values of the biometric data and the context data are generated based on defined consent rules. Upon the generated weighted values satisfying one or more consent thresholds, implicit consent is determined for the transaction from the user, whereby completion of the transaction is enabled. Accurately determining implicit consent of a user for a transaction based on the user's biometric data streamlines the transaction process into an efficient, user-friendly experience for the user while maintaining the security of the user's identity and account information.

Abstract: An integrated transaction platform facilitates a transaction, such as a purchase of a vehicle or other item. The platform provides a pre-negotiated purchase price for the item to facilitate a transaction to purchase the item from a seller, the transaction being substantially frictionless from the buyer's perspective. The pre-negotiation can involve a reverse auction process in which sellers bid to sell the item to a buyer. After the buyer has identified a particular item for purchase, sellers that have the item available are notified to provide a bid indicating a price at which the seller is willing to sell the item. The lowest bid is selected, and a purchase agreement is finalized based on the lowest bid. After the agreement is finalized, the buyer can accept delivery of the item without further negotiation with the seller, and thus with substantially reduced friction compared to traditional purchase scenarios.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates clustering similar data records together in a hierarchical clustering scheme. Each tier in a cluster corresponds to a minimal match score, which reflects a degree of confidence. In this respect, a higher confidence may lead to smaller sized clusters while a lower confidence may lead to larger sized clusters. Ordinal classification may be used to generate hierarchical clusters. In some embodiments, hierarchical clustering with conflict resolution is used to resolve user-defined hard conflicts in each tier of the clustering results.

Abstract: A vehicle collision avoidance supporting apparatus may include a situation determination unit configured to determine whether it is a situation that there exists no moving object proceeding in a direction crossing a traveling direction of the vehicle; a first sensor and configured to detect an object ahead of the vehicle; and an avoidance operation controller configured to cause the vehicle to perform a predetermined avoidance operation for avoiding a collision in accordance with a detection result of the first sensor in a determination region ahead of the vehicle. The avoidance operation controller uses a region which is narrower in a direction perpendicular to the travelling direction and parallel to a horizontal direction as the determination region when it is the situation that there exists no moving object than when it is not the situation that there exists no moving object.

Abstract: A weather event computing device for transmitting weather notifications to policyholders is provided. The weather event computing device receives, from a weather reporting device, weather data for a region. The weather event computing device (i) determines from the weather data that the region is expected to experience a weather event, and (ii) identifies an insured property associated with the policyholder located within the region. A notification is transmitted to the policyholder's mobile device, advising the policyholder that the property may be impacted by the weather event. Pre and post-event drone or other aerial image data of insured properties may be used to estimate insurance claims for the insured, and facilitate prompt payout of insurance monies to those displaced or otherwise impacted by a weather event.

Abstract: A system and method for obtaining target views of a vehicle is disclosed. A seller of a vehicle may seek to obtain one or more target views of the vehicle. To obtain the target views, the user may use a smartphone with an app that accesses the video stream while the user walks around or inside the vehicle. When the app identifies a frame in the video stream as one of the target views sought, the app tags the frame as an image of one of the target views. Further, the user may provide additional input, such as voice input (as part of the video stream) or manual taps on the touchscreen of the smartphone. The additional input may be used for damage assessment or sentiment analysis of the vehicle.

Abstract: Described herein are methods and systems for administering a life insurance policy that provide an alternative to the traditional approach by querying a client for a set of coverage objectives and using a set of algorithms to automatically adjust billed premiums on an ongoing basis to maintain the client-specified coverage objectives—a methodology referred to herein as “dynamic billing.” Dynamic billing enables clients to take corrective action sooner than it would otherwise be taken and/or provides an automated mechanism or prompt for clients to take such action on an ongoing basis. For example, in certain embodiments, the disclosed technology computes adjusted premiums and allows the policy owner to be billed the amount required to keep his/her policy on track with his/her current insurance policy objectives.
