Abstract: An insurance claim report generating system includes an interactive voice response (IVR) system, a voice recognition server, and a voice activated database (VAD) device. The IVR system receives telephone calls from remote devices, delivers audio scripts having prompts directed by both templates and data received from the remote devices. The IVR system receives dual-tone, multi-frequency (DTMF) information and human voice information in response to the prompts. The voice recognition server generates text from the human voice information using a dictionary of insurance relevant terms. The VAD device receives first digital information from the IVR system and second digital information from the voice recognition server. The first digital information is derived from the DTMF information, and the second digital information is derived from the human voice information. The VAD device generates an insurance claim report from at least some of the first or second digital information.

Abstract: This invention relates generally to a computer system and method for integrating insurance policy underwriting. In one aspect it integrates the older legacy insurance policy generating systems to on line systems where users access the system through browsers. The computer system to perform the process of underwriting, rating, quoting, binding, and booking an insurance policy includes browsers, data bases, processors and a dispatcher that parses the information to select an insurance process. Suitable software programs review messages received from users to determine if certain messages are less than a prescribed limit. If a message is greater than the limit, then the message is parsed into a header information and one or more data fields whereby the header information is provided to a legacy processor and to policy generation software for further creation of policy related information and documentation.

Abstract: A method and system for verifying insurance information associated with an entity is disclosed. Insurance information is stored in an insurance information repository. An insurance information verification request from a third party computer is received. The insurance information verification request includes a parameter associated with the entity. A determination is made as to whether insurance information associated with the entity includes an insurance policy. If it is determined that the insurance information associated with the entity includes the insurance policy, a policy status of the insurance policy is determined, and a verification message verifying that the insurance information associated with the entity includes the insurance policy is transmitted to the third party computer. The verification message may include the policy status. Else, an alert message is transmitted to the third party computer. The alert message indicates that the entity does not have insurance.

Abstract: The invention relates to a resource-pooling system and to a corresponding method for risk sharing of a variable number of risk exposure components. The risk exposure components are connected to the resource-pooling system by means of a plurality of payment receiving modules configured to receive and store payments from risk exposure components for the pooling of their risks. The total risk of the pooled risk exposure components comprises a first risk contribution associated to risk exposure in relation to loan losses, and a second risk contribution associated to risk exposure based on emergency expenses. The pooled risk is divided in a parameterizable risk part and a non-parameterizable risk part by means of an indexing module. In case of triggering a loss by means of a trigger module, the suffered loss is covered by releasing associated loans and emergency expenses of the risk exposure components.

Abstract: A computer implemented system and method for matching drugs and diseases involves matching drugs identified in a specific patient's prescription claim records with diseases identified in the patient's medical claims. A weighted relationship is generated between the matched drugs and diseases by calculating a link weight in accordance with a preprogrammed formula for each of the diagnosis codes identified in the patient's medical claims that is identified as associated with the disease identified and the drug. The link weight provides a statistical match association value to each of the matched diseases identified by way of a diagnosis code in the patient's medical claim and the drug identified in the prescription claim.

Abstract: A system for coordinating the submission and processing of a bill according to predictive payment data of a plan. The system comprises a provider interface and an integrated database for receiving a predictive payment plan submitted from the provider interface. The system also has a predictive payment request of the plan storable in the database, the request including a plurality of predictive payment parameters. An adjudication engine is coupled to the integrated database, and an insertion function is used for inserting the predictive payment parameters into an adjudication rule set of the adjudication engine. The adjudication rule set is used for eventual adjudication of the predictive payment data, wherein adjudication of the predictive payment data results in the generation of the bill. The system also has a workflow engine for coordinating the processing of the electronic bill and for updating the bill information in response to processing.

  • Patent number: 8645254
Abstract: An investment fund maximizes an investor's risk-adjusted expected return on an investment while also providing the investor with a defined minimum level income upon the maturity of the investment. The investment fund comprises a risk-free portfolio and an upside portfolio. The risk-free portfolio holds risk-free assets that provide a defined minimum income stream upon a predefined maturity date, and the upside portfolio holds sophisticated assets that are only available to qualified investors that meet one or more investing criteria. As new contributions are added to the fund, they are allocated between the risk-free and upside portfolios so that the fund will provide a minimum defined income stream upon its maturity date, where this minimum income amount may increase as more value is added to the fund. Upon maturity, the investor receives the income stream from the risk-free portfolio and the assets from the upside portfolio.

  • Patent number: 8639522
Abstract: Transaction-based behavioral profiling, whereby the entity to be profiled is represented by a stream of transactions, is required in a variety of data mining and predictive modeling applications. An approach is described for assessing inconsistency in the activity of an entity, as a way of detecting fraud and abuse, using service-code information available on each transaction. Inconsistency is based on the concept that certain service-codes naturally co-occur more than do others. An assessment is made of activity consistency looking at the overall activity of an individual entity, as well as looking at the interaction of entities. Several approaches for measuring consistency are provided, including one inspired by latent semantic analysis as used in text analysis. While the description is in the context of fraud detection in healthcare, the techniques are relevant to application in other industries and for purposes other than fraud detection.
