Abstract: A method and system for scheduling or re-scheduling calendar events is described. One aspect of the invention involves: receiving a calendar search request to schedule a calendar event including at least one participant and a time of meeting constraint; obtaining information identifying one or more preferences associated with the at least one participant, at least one of the preferences based on the at least one participant's historical calendar activity over a predetermined period of time; searching one or more databases in a calendaring system to obtain a set of candidate calendar events that meet at least a subset of the plurality of constraints; ranking the set of candidate calendar events based on the plurality of constraints and the one or more preferences; and preparing for presentation at least a subset of the ranked set of candidate calendar events, each candidate calendar event including a specified start time.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method to help organize in-person gatherings of users of topic-related interest includes the steps of: providing a web-based meeting facility to a plurality of users, wherein each of the plurality of users choose to join at least one of a plurality of meeting groups based on at least one of topic-related interest and geographic locale; enabling at least one organizer to maintain control of organizing meetings with the at least one of the plurality of meeting groups, wherein the one of the plurality of meeting groups is made up of a subset of the plurality of users; and providing the organizer with a revenue generation facility where the organizer generates revenue through commercial sponsorship of at least one of the meeting group and specific meetings.

Abstract: A method is provided for creating a calendar event whose responsibility is shared among a plurality of responsible parties, assigning the calendar event to a subset of the plurality of responsible parties, updating the calendars of each of the subset of the plurality of responsible parties with the calendar event, and resolving any conflicts that the subset of the plurality of responsible parties may have with the calendar event by reassigning the calendar event to a second subset of the plurality of responsible parties. The assigning of the calendar event may also include a fairness assessment that evaluates the previously completed calendar events and the scheduled future calendar events for the subset of the plurality of responsible parties.
