  • Patent number: 9596259
Abstract: Artificial Immune Systems (AIS) including the Dendritic Cell Algorithm (DCA) are an emerging method to detect malware in computer systems. A DCA module may receive an output or signal from multiple indicators concerning the state of at least a portion of the system. The DCA module is configured to combine the plurality of signals into a single signal vector. The DCA module may be configured to sort the received signals based on signal type and magnitude of each signal. The DCA module may then use a decay factor to weight the received signals so that a large number of “nominal” signals do not drown out a small number of “strong” signals indicating a malware attack. The decay factor may be exponentially increased each time it is applied so that all received signals are considered by the DCA module, but so that the “nominal” signals may have a minimal effect.

  • Patent number: 9542621
Abstract: Spatial pyramid pooling (SPP) layers are combined with convolutional layers and partition an input image into divisions from finer to coarser levels, and aggregate local features in the divisions. A fixed-length output may be generated by the SPP layer(s) regardless of the input size. The multi-level spatial bins used by the SPP layer(s) may provide robustness to object deformations. An SPP layer based system may pool features extracted at variable scales due to the flexibility of input scales making it possible to generate a full-image representation for testing. Moreover, SPP networks may enable feeding of images with varying sizes or scales during training, which may increase scale-invariance and reduce the risk of over-fitting.

  • Patent number: 9417850
Abstract: Implicit parameters and implicit arguments are useful in many programming paradigms including functional and logic programming. Implicit parameter declaration order is inferred from the subroutine parameter usage order in the subroutine body. It means that implicit parameters have limited possibilities to be declared in the same order as programmers want. The parameter ignorance operator # allows changing implicit parameter order, but usage of this operator leads to subroutine declaration syntax similar to the syntax of declaring subroutine parameters explicitly, partially losing syntax benefits gained of implicit parameters. In order to preserve all the benefits of implicit parameter usage and allow programmers to change implicit parameter declaration order and scope in concise way, the Grace˜ operator, which is presented in this document, was invented.

The ranking system determines a ranking score for the products based on both data available online and item data that must be computed offline due to longer computation time or unavailability of data. The ranking score can be used to rank the products and determine which products are the most relevant to the user. A hybrid boosting method is used to first train an online ranking function to produce an online ranking score for the item. In the second phase, an offline ranking function is trained to produce a second ranking score for the item. The online rank score is combined with the offline rank score at query time to produce a combined rank for the items in the search results.

Abstract: Methods, systems and computer program products to measure system re-taskability are disclosed. The methods, systems and computer program products may be used in the design of a new or redesign of an existing System of Systems (SoS). Systems re-tasking (aka substitutability or stand-in redundancy) is the process of using different systems to substitute for non-operational systems to meet required functionality, or using multi-function systems to fulfill higher-priority tasks. This ability can increase the overall operational availability of the SoS; it can also increase the adaptability and resilience of the SoS to unknown or changing conditions. The disclosed methods, systems and computer products include simulating an SoS over time, replacing systems that become non-operational (or damaged) with systems that can fulfill the same capability in order to maximize the SoS availability.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for detection of relationships between objects in a meta-model semantic network is described. Semantic objects and semantic relations of a meta-model of business objects are generated from a meta-model semantic network. The semantic relations are based on connections between the semantic objects. A neural network is formed based on usage of the semantic objects and the semantic relations. The neural network is integrated with the semantic objects and the semantic relations to generate a contextual network. A statistical analysis of the connections between the semantic objects in the contextual network is performed to identify stronger semantic relations. The identified stronger semantic relations are used to update the neural network. The updated neural network is integrated into the contextual network.

Abstract: Roughly described, a data mining system includes a candidate gene database in which each candidate individual has a respective fitness estimate. A gene pool processor tests individuals from the candidate gene pool on training data and updates the fitness estimate of the individuals. A gene harvesting module deploys selected individuals from the gene pool. The gene pool processor includes a competition module which selects individuals for discarding in dependence upon their updated fitness estimate. The system maintains a fitness training history for each of the candidate individuals, identifying the data samples on which the individual has been tested. The historical information can be used to assist in any one or more of the following: competition among the individuals, avoiding re-testing of an individual on the same data sample, removing duplicate test data before merging fitness evaluations, improving gene pool diversity, and selecting individuals for deployment.

Abstract: Disclosure is a multi-objective semiconductor product capacity planning system and method thereof. The system comprises a data input module, a capacity planning module and a computing module. The machine information of the production stations, the product information and the order information are input by the data input module. According to the demand quantity of order, capacity information and product information, the capacity planning module plans a capacity allocation to determine the satisfied quantity of orders. The capacity allocation information is used to form a gene combination by chromosome encoding method. The computing module calculates the gene combination several times to generate numerous candidate solutions by a multi-objective genetic algorithm. The numerous candidate solutions sorts out and generates a new gene combination, and repeats the calculation to form candidate solution set until stop condition is satisfied.

  • Patent number: 8972237
Abstract: A state (i.e., ket) of a set of qubits may be simulated via a classical computer. Ordering characteristics of the ket (i.e., the “current” permutation associated with the state) may be determined. An operator (which may be associated with a certain operation to perform on the ket) may be defined and simulated. Ordering characteristics of the operator (i.e., the “current” permutation associated with operator) may be determined. If the current permutations of the state and operator match, then the operation may be performed to generate a new ket. Alternatively, the operator may be permuted to match the permutation of the current state. Or the state may be permuted to match the current operator permutation. The operation may then be performed, and the state and permutation remembered for the next operation. The process may be repeated for each operation in the series.

Instead of returning a current iteration figure of merit, a worst observed figure of merit for a set of actual design parameters is returned as the figure of merit for a candidate solution. Since the candidate solution includes both actual design parameters and actual context parameters and the worst observed figures of merit are tracked by actual design parameters, the figure of merit for a set of design parameters will be the worst of the observed worst case scenarios as defined by the actual context parameters over a run of a metaheuristic optimizer.
