  • Patent number: 10356217
Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing virtual weather data are described. Embodiments retrieve a plurality of weather data snapshots of historical weather data and provide an API through which a plurality of remote clients request weather data. A request specifying a first set of geographical and spatial coordinates and further specifying a first set of time and date coordinates is received. In response to the request, a first set of weather data is determined from the plurality of weather data snapshots of historical weather data, based on the first set of geographical and spatial coordinates and the first set of time and date coordinates and transmitted to the first remote client. A plurality of follow-on sets of geographical and spatial weather data are also requested and transmitted to the first remote client.

  • Patent number: 10356074
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a system for identifying and pooling resources, as well as tools that enable users to manage the pooled resources. In particular, the system may identify resource data provided by an authenticated user and assign a classification to the resource based on the data type. The system may further create logical links between and amongst the resources provided by all authenticated users within the system according to their respective classifications, grouping like resources or related resources together. Resources may be assigned to one or more classifications and may be “tagged” for later identification and retrieval by the system based on the data contained within the resources. The system may then provide the aggregated data to the user for further processing and input.

  • Patent number: 10354204
Abstract: A computing device automatically classifies an observation vector. A label set defines permissible values for a target variable. Supervised data includes a labeled subset that has one of the permissible values. A converged classification matrix is computed based on the supervised data and an unlabeled subset using a prior class distribution matrix that includes a row for each observation vector. Each column is associated with a single permissible value of the label set. A cell value in each column is a likelihood that each associated permissible value of the label set occurs based on prior class distribution information. The value of the target variable is selected using the converged classification matrix. A weighted classification label distribution matrix is computed from the converged classification matrix. The value of the target variable for each observation vector of the plurality of observation vectors is output to a labeled dataset.

  • Patent number: 10346861
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention relate to providing business customers with predictive capabilities, such as identifying valuable customers or estimating the likelihood that a product will be purchased. An adaptive sampling scheme is utilized, which helps generate sample data points from large scale data that is imbalanced (for example, digital website traffic with hundreds of millions of visitors but only a small portion of them are of interest). In embodiments, a stream of sample data points is received. Positive samples are added to a positive list until the desired number of positives is reached and negative samples are added to a negative list until the desired number of negative samples is reached. The positive list and the negative list can then be combined, shuffled, and fed into a prediction model.

  • Patent number: 10290072
Abstract: A process for improving dispatch of different types of law enforcement patrols (LEPs) for achieving a desired deterrent effect includes first receiving patrol route information indicating patrol routes taken by first LEPs, and then determining, as a function of a type of each of the first LEPs, a threshold level of deterrence reached for each of the patrol routes taken. Subsequently, a threshold level of deterrence desired (TLoDD) for each of the plurality of patrol routes is determined as a function of historical and/or real-time crime information. A first patrol route having a threshold level of deterrence reached (TLoDR) that is less than a TOoDD is identified and, as a function of the difference, a particular type of second LEP having a sufficient deterrent effect factor to compensate for the difference is identified. An available responding second LEP of the particular type is then identified for dispatch.

  • Patent number: 10289910
Abstract: Described is a system for real-time object recognition. During operation, the system extracts convolutional neural network (CNN) feature vectors from an input image. The input image reflects a scene proximate the system, with the feature vector representing an object in the input image. The CNN feature vector is matched against feature vectors stored in a feature dictionary to identify k nearest neighbors for each object class stored in the feature dictionary. The matching results in a probability distribution over object classes stored in the feature dictionary. The probability distribution provides a confidence score that each of the object classes in the feature dictionary are representative of the object in the input image. Based on the confidence scores, the object in the input image is then recognized as being a particular object class when the confidence score for the particular object class exceeds a threshold.

Abstract: Embodiments relate to converting semi-structured spatial data. Initially, semi-structured spatial data is recursively traversed to determine a dynamically nested structure. The dynamically nested structure is translated into an application specific layer structure based on feature type grouping and display capabilities of a geographic information system (GIS) application. Next, an input symbology is determined for each feature in the semi-structured spatial data. The input symbology of each feature is analyzed to determine an application symbology for each map layer in the GIS application. A spatial database is created for the GIS application based on the application specific layer structure. Abstract: The systems and methods described herein relate to mapping and identifying expert resources. The systems and methods described herein may provide a set of technologies, that work together as one solution, to effectively and efficiently resolve user questions. A cognitive engine may autonomously learn which experts have the knowledge to quickly solve a question or whether a previous question is similar enough to provide a solution instantly. Using machine learning, a know-how map may be created, linking all of the users of the system with their areas of expertise. Expert resources among the users may be mapped by determining connections between topics (and their corresponding tags) and calculating an expert score related to each topic for each user. These connections and expert scores are subsequently used during expert routing for each new question, to find those users with the expertise to give the best possible solution.

  • Patent number: 10211637
Abstract: A method is proposed for real-time economic dispatch in power system operation, especially in systems that include renewable power sources that may cause heavy deviations from a generation schedule due to their uncertain outputs. According to the method an optimal generation schedule is obtained based on forecasted load data. This schedule has to be adjusted if the actual load and renewable energy source outputs unexpectedly deviate from the forecasted value. An algorithm employed in the method is capable of dictating generation adjustments which minimize total generation costs. The algorithm is a modification of the base point and participation factor method. It differs from existing methods in that a precise model of transmission losses is adopted in the algorithm to achieve higher accuracy in optimization. The proposed method also has significant advantage in execution speed so that it is suitable for real-time operation.
