  • Patent number: 11846616
Abstract: Improved systems and methods for laboratory instrument calibration. A laboratory instrument retrieves a number of sets of past quality control parameters from a data structure. Each set includes a recovered value and a timestamp. The recovered value is equal to an output value adjusted by an initial calibration factor. The laboratory instrument determines that the number of sets is greater than a threshold and that each of the past quality control parameters has a timestamp that is within a time threshold. The laboratory instrument computes an updated calibration factor such that when the updated calibration factor is applied to a representative value of the recovered values, the representative value equals the expected recovered value. The instrument updates the data structure with the calibration factor such that the calibration factor is used in subsequent testing of patient specimens.

  • Patent number: 8301575
Abstract: This method uses two sets of sensors to estimate certain characteristics of the movement of a device or a person or states, especially postures, they adopt. A first, abundant, set of sensors (1) is removed after a learning phase where it records with certainty the states obtained by interpreting first decisional rules. The measurements of a second set of sensors (2), much more restricted than the first, are correlated to the states reached during the learning period by second decisional rules automatically obtained by supplying a classifier. They are then interpreted to determine the new states reached by the wearer just by means of the second sensors. The results are good in spite of the low number of second sensors, thanks to the accuracy of the second decisional rules.

  • Patent number: 7613672
Abstract: This document discusses, among other things, a user interface capable of resolving interactions between programmable parameters for operation of a personal medical device. Programming these devices is a difficult task when many parameters are involved. The medical device interface attempts to reduce and minimize constraint violations between interdependent parameters using an initial set of parameter values supplied by user (typically a physician) input, and constraint violations describing invalid parameter values. A user is given the option to select one or more parameters to remain constant. If possible, a set of parameter values with less egregious constraint violations is displayed to the user. A user is prompted to accept the set of parameter values and program the medical device.

  • Patent number: 7555470
Abstract: The invention provides a method and system by which research data can be collected and analyzed during the course of the research testing, and the research testing itself possibly modified to account for conclusions drawn from the research data. In a first aspect of the invention, a research subject can respond to a protocol stored on a server by manipulating input keys on a remotely located client device onto which a research protocol has been installed. The protocol can include questions concerning the subject's physical or mental well being such as whether their symptoms are relieved or not, or even exacerbated. The protocol can also include calling for data obtained by coupling the client device with another medical device such as a glucose monitor. In a preferred embodiment, the subject is presented with narrowly structured questions and suggested answers provided by the protocol. The set of possible answers is restricted.

  • Patent number: 7475047
Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention provides a system that performs parallel grouping decomposition to facilitate expedited training of a support vector machine (SVM). During operation, the system receives a training dataset comprised of data vectors. The system then determines whether any data vector in the dataset violates conditions associated with a current SVM. Next, the system divides the violating data vectors into a number of subsets, thereby allowing parallel SVM training for each subset. The system subsequently builds an independent SVM for each subset in parallel based on the current SVM. The system then constructs a new SVM to replace the current SVM based on the SVMs built for each subset of violating data vectors.

Abstract: In a method and apparatus for analyzing multivariable data sets, a general computerized platform is provided for evaluating the relationship between large number of measurements of sets of variables characterizing components of complex states of a system under induced stimulation or controlled conditions. The linked responses of variables and their temporal relations tell about the network of interactions and their hierarchy. Processing of data sets by a simple neural network gives a matrix of weight parameters, that allow to identify fingerprints of complex states characterized by patterns of measured variable and estimate the interactions between the components characterized by the measured variables. The results are provided numerically and by color-coded presentation indicating dominating relations between variables and strongly responding variables.
