Reporting, Knowledge Discovery (kd) Systems Patents (Class 707/603)
  • Publication number: 20100114815
Abstract: Methods and apparatus to perform database record reporting using a web browser interface are disclosed. An example method disclosed herein comprises pre-calculating first summary data and a first number of data records expected to be returned for a first reporting query, the first reporting query designated as a summary reporting query, the first summary data determined from a first set of data records obtained in response to querying a database based on first search criteria included in the first reporting query, providing the first reporting data and the first number of data records without querying the database in response to an invocation of the first reporting query, and querying the database to identify a second set of data records satisfying the first search criteria in response to an invocation of a second reporting query, the second reporting query designated as a detailed reporting query.

  • Patent number: 7707167
Abstract: A method, system, and apparatus are provided for creating a knowledge interchange (“KI”) profile for a user that identifies the interests of the user, the individuals with which the user has communicated, and the topics on which the communication with the user was made. In order to create the KI profile, items of interest are gathered at the client computer by monitoring the interaction between a user and programs executing on the client computer. Once the items of interest have been identified, the KI profile is created by performing a social network analysis, an interest analysis, and a noun phrase analysis. Once the KI profile has been created, it may be uploaded to a server computer where it is aggregated with KI profiles created for other users.

  • Patent number: 7707171
Abstract: An interactive response, storage and tracking system delivered through an interactive medium (e.g. mobile, internet, kiosk in shops) whereby the provided visual stimuli enables consumers/respondents/users to select a stimulus that best answers their response to a given question. These visual ‘answers’ are then collated to form ‘clusters’ of respondents that share the same or similar preferences thereby enabling the viewer of such information to understand the propensity of a given ‘cluster’ to behave, react, respond, perform and/or purchase.

Abstract: Online fraud prevention including receiving a rules set to detect fraud, mapping the rules set to a data set, mapping success data to members of the rules set, filtering the members of the rules set, and ordering members of the data set by giving priority to those members of the data set with a greater probability for being fraudulent based upon the success data of each member of the rule set in detecting fraud. Further, a receiver coupled to an application server to receive a rules set to detect fraud, and a server coupled to the application server, to map the rules set to a data set, and to map the success data to each members of the rules set. The server is used to order the various members of the data set by giving priority to those members of the data set with a greatest probability for being fraudulent.

  • Patent number: 7698312
Abstract: A method and apparatus for performing recursive database operations is provided. According to one aspect, a plurality of first-stage slaves and a plurality of second-stage slaves are established in a database server. During one or more iterations of a recursive database operation, the first-stage slaves concurrently process data items stored in a data repository and send results to the second-stage slaves. The second-stage slaves receive the results and concurrently process those results. The second-stage slaves store the results of the second-stage slaves' processing in the data repository. Subsequent iterations of the recursive database operation proceed in this manner until the recursive database operation has been completed. In each iteration, the first-stage slaves consume the product of the second-stage slaves' previous iteration's processing, and the second-stage slaves consume the product of the first-stage slaves' current iteration's processing.

Abstract: Profiles are maintained that are usable by a behavioral targeting service. A profile engine processes event indications that are both indicative of interaction by users generally with at least one online service and are specifically indicative of events usable for generating profile data for behavioral targeting to provide personalized content. It is determined which of a plurality of behavioral models to apply to an event indication based on a time associated with the event indication and time periods associated with the behavioral models. The determined behavioral model is applied to determine at least one updated profile.

  • Publication number: 20100082526
Abstract: Internet websites that are popular for users in a specific location are determined and displayed to a user of an electronic device. The popularity information may be of benefit to users in the location or to users of inherently portable devices, such as a mobile telephone or a laptop computer, that travel to the location. In one embodiment, position data relating to devices used to access websites is used to establish statistics regarding the most visited websites based on location. For instance, positioning data may be added to “webpage look-up/URL requests” that are made by the devices. This data may be transmitted to a server for deriving of the statistics.

  • Publication number: 20100075291
Abstract: A method and system for automatically helping a teacher/educator evaluate assessments administered to students for determining student's attributes. The teacher/educator reviews stored assessment forms at a digital user interface (DUI) at a multifunction device (MFD) and selects the desired forms and creates an Assessment Batch which includes a List of Students to be given the forms for marking. The system automatically codes each form with personalized student information and prints the individualized assessment forms. The system may include an assessment repository for storing assessment definitions, rubrics, and administered assessments (e.g., results sheets), an may additionally or alternatively include an assessment analyzer for interpreting scanned imaged of administered assessments.

  • Publication number: 20100070461
Abstract: Techniques for dynamic consumer-defined views of an enterprise's data warehouse are provided. A requester, such as a consumer, defines custom attribute aggregations associated with a plurality of data sources. The custom attribute aggregations define a schema for a resource-defined view of the data warehouse. Data operations are dynamically processed against the data sources in response to the schema to produce the resource-defined view.
