Abstract: A query technique and interactive tool for analyzing unstructured data and structured data together through an easy-to-use interface. The query technique uses field indexes within a search engine to enable fast response times, scalability across large data sets, and availability to large audiences. This invention enables embodiments to combine the best features from search experiences with the best features from business intelligence experiences. A preferred embodiment of this technique enables all features to be fully composable so that one request includes structured data analysis features including multi-column grouping and aggregations as well as unstructured data analysis features including search term stemming and dynamic summaries.

Abstract: A mobile computing platform for a mobile device, which has an interface for a remote connection to a backend server, includes a mobile analytics engine. The mobile analytics engine is configured to implement a mobile analytics model, which defines data, query and report structures for analytics of business data stored on the backend server. The mobile analytics engine uses model metadata to provide a generic reporting and analytics interface to support diverse mobile business analytics applications.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are an apparatus and method for providing an application for processing big data. The apparatus includes a setting unit, a unified information access unit, a metadata management unit, and a database unit. The setting unit sets data collection and analytic levels and a result screen for each of a plurality of tenants. The unified information access unit collects data based on the settings of the setting unit, and analyzes the collected data. The metadata management unit manages metadata about the data collected based on the settings of the setting unit. The database unit stores the collected data and the analyzed data.

Abstract: Systems and methods for determining aggregated transaction level data for specific group characteristics are provided. Aggregated transaction level data can be used for target marketing campaigns by looking at past and potential spending habits of populations with group characteristics specified in the transaction data aggregates. The aggregates can also be used to measure the effectiveness of a particular marketing campaign by correlating the spending patters of a particular group with sales resulting from the campaign.

Abstract: Separate subsystems are dedicated to handle fact and dimension data storage and retrieval in an optimized manner. Each subsystem acquires, processes, and stores its data separately in a manner appropriate to the characteristics of that data. A query engine combines the data from each subsystem at query time. When a user queries the system, the query engine interacts with each of the subsystems to fetch the data needed to generate a single result set.

Abstract: A relationship-based people matching system and method matches people in accordance with inferences of preferences from usage behaviors that include the explicit establishing of relationships, including directionally distinct relationships, by users. The usage behaviors may further comprise behaviors such as establishing subscriptions and the tagging of computer-implemented objects. The matching may be performed in response to a search request. Expressions of interest between matched people may be performed by the matched people through establishment of computer-implemented relationships. An explanation for the matching of matched people that references computer-implemented relationships may be delivered.

In particular, the privacy management system provides a policy hub for maintaining and managing customer privacy information. The privacy management system maintains a master data database for customer information and customer privacy preferences, and a rules database for privacy rules. The privacy management system captures, synchronizes, and stores customer privacy data. Privacy rules may be authored using a privacy management vocabulary, and can be customized for an enterprise's privacy policies.

Abstract: Described is a method and system for retrieving and serving the regulatory history of a property. An identification of data sources for permits and approvals is stored in a computer system. Property identifiers from the data sources are stored in the computer system. The system identifies the types of permit and approval data available from each of the data sources for each of the property identifiers. A determination can be made of the completeness of the regulatory history available for each property associated with each of said property identifiers. The system receives a request for the regulatory history of at least one of the properties associated with the property identifiers. A web page is populated with a list of the regulatory history for the property.

Abstract: A system and method for using an easy query in a business warehouse system environment that includes external end-user systems. A method includes providing a flag in a query to a business warehouse data system, the flag marking the query for access to the query by sources external to the business warehouse data system. The method further includes providing, by the at least one data processor the access points having a number of parameters that are fixed at a design time associated with the query, providing a query result to the access points of the sources external to the business warehouse system according to the number of parameters. The system and method provide an easy way of creating an access function at design time, as well as an easy way of result set consumption provided by the function at runtime.

Abstract: The present invention discloses methods, systems, and tools for unified semantic ranking of compositions of ontological subjects. The method breaks a composition into a plurality of partitions as well as its constituent ontological subjects of different orders and builds a participation matrix indicating the participation of ontological subjects of the composition in other ontological subjects, i.e. the partitions, of the composition. Using the participation information of the ontological subjects into each other a similarity matrix is built from which the semantic importance ranks of the partitions of the composition are calculated. The method, systematically, enables the calculation of the semantic ranks of the ontological subjects of different orders of the composition. Various systems for implementing the method and numerous applications and services are disclosed.

Abstract: A computer-based method and apparatus for identifying hazardous materials based on observable physical properties and signs and systems of exposure to the hazardous materials. The observable physical properties are obtained by preprocessing plain language data to obtain normalized descriptors and modifiers pertaining to a plurality of properties and signs and symptoms. The normalized descriptors and signs and symptoms are presented to a user in lists for comparison with a sample in the field. Once a material is identified, information can be obtained from the apparatus which is necessary for response to an incident involving the hazardous material. The preferred embodiments of the invention are particularly useful to responders to a hazardous waste incident.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods are disclosed for managing master data in a master data management (MDM) environment using classification hierarchies. According to one embodiment of the disclosed technology, a method of classifying master data includes receiving a classification hierarchy defining one or more dimensions and one or more relations between a set of hierarchy levels, generating a dimensional level by associating at least one of the dimensions with a hierarchy level, the dimension defining a set of valid values for nodes associated with the dimensional level, associating one or more nodes with the dimensional level, and generating master data classifications for an MDM environment based on the classification hierarchy and the associated nodes, where one or more objects of the master data classifications are assigned valid values based on the associated nodes.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to methods and systems for rendering perceivable stimuli representative of information processing by a multi-tenant architecture that pre-fetches a portion of a subset of data on a multi-tenant architecture and emulates a result set of data in accordance with a report definition. To that end the method comprises identifying a subset of data on the multi-tenant architecture that is subject to a report definition. A portion of the subset is pre-fetched and analyzed to emulate a result. The emulated result is transmitted to a computer system of a user of the multi-tenant architecture. Perceivable stimuli is generated on the user computer system, in response to receiving the emulated result.

Abstract: A method and a system for analyzing a data value of interest in a multidimensional database. The data value of interest is first identified in a structured report. The data source for the structured report is retrieved. A context for the data value of interest in the data source is collected, for example, by extracting a slicer from the structured report, by extracting members of master-detail pages, or by extracting a default measure from the structured report. An analysis specification based on the collected context is then built, and the data value of interest is analyzed using the analysis specification. The result from analyzing the data value of interest may be presented in an analysis view.

Abstract: Analytic workflows for performing data analysis and other related operations are stored in an analytic workflow library and provided to a user upon selection of data from a data store. A workflow manager may rank the workflows based on a number of ranking algorithms prior to presentation. User selected workflows are executed in conjunction with relevant external applications and the analysis result provided to the user through the user's client application used to select the data. Workflows and associated interfaces may be received from a variety of sources and integrated into the workflow framework for enhancing data analysis.

Abstract: A method and analytics tools for locating experts with specific sets of expertise are disclosed, the method including providing a collection of documents P0; generating categories representing fields of expertise derived from the collection of documents P0; refining the taxonomy of the categories by applying user domain knowledge; extracting structured fields from the collection of documents P0; constructing a contingency table having a first axis defined by the extracted structured fields and a second axis defined by the categories; and using the contingency table to identify a set of experts having a related expertise. The method may also include a network graph analysis that aids visualization of the relationship between people and expertise.

Abstract: Methods and systems are described for automated processing of medical information for employment determinations. Based on an employment screening procedure for an applicant, medical information queries are automatically generated to provide instructions to medical providers for conducting physical exams and laboratory tests and for retrieving medical records. After medical information is collected according to the queries, the medical information and related requirements codes are displayed to program administrative personnel in a user-friendly format to assist in making an employment determination.

Abstract: A method of distinguishing nociceptive pain from neuropathic pain includes providing a series of questions for answering by the patient. Each of the answers by the patient are given a numerical value within a nociceptive pain category and a neuropathic pain category. The values within the two categories are then summed, with the resultants potentially modified using a series of one or more equations. The ratio of the neuropathic pain to the nociceptive pain is then calculated. The ratio provides a value for the physician to diagnose the patient as suffering from nociceptive pain, neuropathic pain, or both nociceptive pain and neuropathic pain. Embodiments of the present invention include a system for assisting a physician to identify whether a patient's pain is nociceptive pain or neuropathic pain.

In one aspect, a method exploits weakly-supervised and unsupervised instance relatedness data, available in the form of labeled classes of instances and distributionally similar instances. The method organizes the data into a graph containing instances, class labels, and attributes. The method propagates attributes among related instances, through random walks over the graph.

Abstract: A system and method for responding to a query. An original query is received. A first semantic query and a second semantic query are extracted from the information of the original query. The first semantic query is transformed, based upon semantic analysis, into a numeric model query. The second semantic query is submitted to a semantic analyzer and the numeric model query is submitted to a numeric model analyzer. A response for the second semantic query and a response for the numeric model query are integrated into an answer for the original query.

The standardized interface is configured for converting each sensor datum into a corresponding sensor object, and converting received movement directives into the respective motor commands. The executable routing resource is configured for maintaining a database of world objects representing attributes within an infosphere established by the wireless mobile network based on the sensor objects and received network objects.

Abstract: Mechanisms are provided for optimizing file data compressed using deflate mechanisms such as the ZLIB Compressed Data Format Specification and the DEFLATE Compressed Data Format Specification. Deflate mechanisms output different deflate file data depending on specific file data parameters. An optimization tool decompresses the deflate file data and outputs an optimized data stream. When a client application attempts to access the deflate data, the tool deoptimizes the optimized data stream and applies the same deflate algorithm to generate deflate file data. Although the deflate algorithm is applied without using the file data parameters used to generate the original deflate file data, substitute deflate file data is produced.

Abstract: A computer system, method, and media for associating locations with ranked websites are provided. The computer system includes a search engine, a log database, and a location database that are employed to respond to search requests from users by returning appropriately ranked websites to the user. The websites are ranked using the location of the website and the location of the user to select websites to receive high ranks. Additionally, the search engine includes a correction feature that reevaluates locations for a website or user when a large number of obtained locations suggest a different location than a currently associated location for the website or the user.
