  • Patent number: 8838531
Abstract: Systems and methods for verifying data in a distributed database using different automated check operations at different times during the database read and update cycles. Various functions may be performed including executing a first check during update operations of the database. A second check may also be executed during the update operation of the database, and be implemented as an execution thread of an update daemon. A third check may be executed at a time interval between update functions of the update daemon. A fourth check may be executed during a time that the database is not being updated. Integrity of data in the database may be verified by a computer processor based on the first, second, third, and fourth checks.

  • Patent number: 8812458
Abstract: Provided is a method for the adaptive updating of building block architectures and designs in the event of a change to a component of the building block architecture. When a specific component of the architecture, or SBB, is replaced or modified, the metadata associated with the new or modified component is placed in a building block repository. The system captures or recognizes the event and automatically makes updates to dependent components of the specific component. Such updates may include, but are not limited to, a substitution or replacement of one component with another, generally if the replacement component is a better fit in the solution architecture than the original component. A new or updated system architecture is generated to reflect the replaced and/or modified components and the associated metadata. In the alternative, the system notifies an administrator to make specific changes in components rather than implementing the changes automatically.

Abstract: At least one quasi-identifier attribute of a plurality of ranked attributes is selected for use in anonymizing a database. Each of the ranked attributes is ranked according to that attribute's effect on a database-centric application (DCA) being tested. In an embodiment, the selected quasi-identifier attribute(s) has the least effect on the DCA. The database is anonymized based on the selected quasi-identifier attribute(s) to provide a partially-anonymized database, which may then be provided to a testing entity for use in testing the DCA. In an embodiment, during execution of the DCA, instances of database queries are captured and analyzed to identify a plurality of attributes from the database and, for each such attribute identified, the effect of the attribute on the DCA is quantified. In this manner, databases can be selectively anonymized in order to balance the requirements of data privacy against the utility of the data for testing purposes.

In many applications, a sensor device may detect that a first policy engine is not available and send communications to a second policy engine that may be accessed through the Internet.

Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to systems, methods, and computer-readable storage media for generating data and data sets that are resistant to minimality attacks. Data sets having a number of tuples are received, and the tuples are ordered according to an aspect of the tuples. The tuples can be split into groups of tuples, and each of the groups may be analyzed to determine if the group complies with a privacy requirement. Groups that satisfy the privacy requirement may be output as new data sets that are resistant to minimality attacks.

  • Patent number: 8612413
Abstract: A distributed data cache included in a content delivery network expedites retrieval of data for application execution by a server in a content delivery network. The distributed data cache is distributed across computer-readable storage media included in a plurality of servers in the content delivery network. When an application generates a query for data, a server in the content delivery network determines whether the distributed data cache includes data associated with the query. If data associated with the query is stored in the distributed data cache, the data is retrieved from the distributed data cache. If the distributed data cache does not include data associated with the query, the data is retrieved from a database and the query and associated data are stored in the distributed data cache to expedite subsequent retrieval of the data when the application issues the same query.

  • Patent number: 8606749
Abstract: A request is received at a computer programmed as a database system. The request is a request selected from the group consisting of a query and a utility. A business concept is associated with the request. The business concept is a business concept selected from the group consisting of “who” information defining the source of the request, “what” information defining the processing to be performed by the request, “where” information defining a database object that the request will affect. The computer maps the received request to a database feature setting by mapping the business concept associated with the request to a workload. The workload is defined by a workload definition including a workload classification attribute that maps to the business concept of the request, a workload throttling attribute that defines conditions under which requests assigned to the workload are throttled. Submission of the request to the database system for processing is delayed based on the workload definition.
