Abstract: A method is disclosed for a search engine or part of a search engine which utilizes collective intelligence, evaluation, and judgment, including web intelligence, to create and adapt the content of a generalized index hierarchy for digital resources to be searched. Digital resources to be searched can be stored and managed as a localized or distributed repository of images, video, audio, graphical or other multimedia data objects, as well as structured composite items, services, programs, modules, files, documents, systems, applications, networked peers, and agents, which may be difficult or costly to be indexed. In particular embodiments the claimed invention focuses on the indexing of semantic contents and/or pragmatic characteristics of such digital resources. By tracking and analyzing the searching behavior of users, proxies, and/or meta-search-engines, a search index can be created, tuned, improved and optimized.

If so, the system uses the geographic data set to determine whether the possible synonym is a correlated geographic synonym for the term.

Abstract: A search engine receives user-submitted queries, determines web pages that are relevant to those queries, and returns relevance-ranked lists of references to the relevant web pages. Additionally, the search engine adds each query's terms to a query log. An automated process asynchronously examines the log and locates questions therein. For each question so located, the process determines whether that question already is contained in a database of questions maintained by an online question-and-answer system that is separate from the search engine. For each such question that is not already contained in the stored database of questions, the process automatically adds that question to the question database. As a result, the set of questions used by the online question-and-answer system grows even in the absence of any further direct question submissions by users of the system.

Abstract: Database query analysis technology, in which an input query is received that relates to multiple attribute classes of data records. An index that is descriptive of the data records in data storage is accessed and relative positions in the accessed index for the multiple attribute classes are identified. The accessed index is processed based on more than one of the multiple attribute classes and the identified relative positions, and the processed index is used to identify groups of data records that are included in the data records in the data storage and that share common values for the multiple attribute classes in the input query. Metrics corresponding to the data records included in each of the identified groups of data records are accessed, computations are performed on the accessed metrics, and a report is generated that reflects results of the computations.

The events may be data mined from the Internet, as well as entered by System Users. According to one aspect, a method includes receiving an indication of first presentable content associated with a first subscription service. Metadata associated with the selected first presentable content is received. Based on the received metadata, it is determined whether second presentable content corresponding to the first presentable content is available from a second subscription service. The security engine determines if there is a risk of exposing information from the submittal and performs enforcement if it is determined that there is a risk.

Abstract: A search engine can be configured to improve search times by implementing a parallel computing architecture. The index is split across a plurality of independent search nodes. A query is communicated to each of the parallel nodes and the query is searched in each independent node. The results from each node are routed to a federator that is configured to aggregate the results to a result set. The federator is configured to determine a subset of intermediate results to retrieve and aggregate from each of the independent nodes. The federator determines a number of results to retrieve from each of the nodes based at least in part on the number of nodes and the number of search results desired in the results set.

The patterns are defined using regular expressions that are compiled into a data structure comprised of rules subsequently processed by the PMA. The patterns to be searched in the input stream are defined by the user as a set of regular expressions. The patterns to be searched are grouped in pattern context sets. The sets of regular expressions which define the pattern context sets are compiled to generate a rules structure used by the PMA hardware. The rules are compiled before search run time and stored in main memory, in rule cache memory within the PMA or a combination thereof. For each input character, the PMA executes the search and returns the search results.

Abstract: A document analysis, commenting, and reporting system provides tools that automate quality assurance analysis tailored to specific document types. As one example, the specific document type may be a requirements specification and the system may tag different parts of requirements, including actors, entities, modes, and a remainder. However, the flexibility of the system permits analysis of any other document type, such as instruction manuals and best practices guides. The system helps avoid confusion over the document when it is delivered because of non-standard terms, ambiguous language, conflicts between document sections, incomplete or inaccurate descriptions, size and complexity of the document, and other issues.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention are directed to using image data and contextual data to determine information about a scene, based on one or more previously obtained images. Contextual data, such location of image capture, can be used to determine previously obtained images related to the contextual data and other location-related information, such as billboard locations. With even low resolution devices, such as cell phone, image attributes, such as a histogram or optically recognized characters, can be compared between the previously obtained images and the newly captured image. Attributes matching within a predefined threshold indicate matching images. Information on the content of matching previously obtained images can be provided back to a user who captured the new image. User profile data can refine the content information. The content information can also be used as search terms for additional searching or other processing.

The RAC validates the skills via testing or third party confirmation, accepts the person as a remote worker, certifies the person's skill levels, and places the person in the remote worker pool. The remote worker can also obtain remote training on new or additional topics. The RAC evaluates the business demands of an external party, identifies remote workers with the needed skills who are available, and transmits the work at the appropriate time to the remote workers. The work is transmitted via or through the RAC. The external parties thus do not have to recruit, train, or test persons, or be concerned with staffing issues.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention relate to a software-as-a-service (“SaaS”) digital document management system (“DDMS”). The DDMS is located remotely from an office building or other place of business on a remote server. The server is connected to one or more databases for storing digital documents or information extracted from the digital documents. A user populates the DDMS by sending digital documents to the server using a computer, an email-enabled scanner, or the like. When a digital document is received at the server, the document is routed to a customer pending queue, information from the digital document is extracted, the digital document is stored in a directory, and the extracted information is stored in a relational database. In various embodiments, the wakeup threshold is increased by a percentage equal to one minus a percentage of free resources at a computer system, is increased inversely proportional to an amount of execution time of a previous execution of the execution plan, or is decreased proportional to a number of times the execution plan was executed. A portion of the execution plan is executed to produce a portion of rows in a result set until the wakeup threshold expires. A user-specific search network can be generated that represents user-entered criteria and/or user task-related criteria. Within the semantic library, potential newsworthy semantic networks can be identified. Newsworthy content from each identified potential newsworthy semantic network can be dynamically determined based upon the base newsworthiness rating and a predefined newsworthiness threshold. The newsworthy content from the identified potential newsworthy semantic network can be related to the user-specific search network at the common node, creating a newsworthy content recommendation graph.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for monitoring a bookmarked web page and a system and a computer program implementing such a method. A method according to an embodiment of the invention includes a first phase, including steps for storing, in association with each other, user identification data and an active version of the web page. Abstract: Systems and methods for storing and accessing data. A query language statement may reference a plurality of data sets and a plurality of algebraic relations between the data sets may be composed from the query language statement. The algebraic relations may be used to define new data sets and to optimize access to data sets. A store of algebraic relations may be accumulated over time. Alternative collections of algebraic relations may be generated and evaluated to determine an optimized collection of algebraic relations to use in calculating and providing a requested data set. The optimization may be performed using the algebraic relations rather than retrieving underlying data sets from storage. As a result, optimization may be performed at processor speeds to minimize the amount of time required for data to be retrieved from slower storage.
