By obtaining the multimedia playing records of the users, the above method for recommending users in social network sets up group of users with the same interest according to the multimedia playing records of the users and to recommend the users in the group of users with the same interest to each other. By this way, the user will not have to fill out the personal information or to submit labels of interests actively, which improves the operative convenience.

Abstract: A canopy clustering process merges at least one set of multiple single-center canopies together into a merged multi-center canopy. Multi-center canopies, as well as the single-center canopies, can then be used to partition data objects in a dataset. The multi-center canopies allow a canopy assignment condition constraint to be relaxed without risk of leaving any data objects in a dataset outside of all canopies. Approximate distance calculations can be used as similarity metrics to define and merge canopies and to assign data objects to canopies. In one implementation, a distance between a data object and a canopy is represented as the minimum of the distances between the data object and each center of a canopy (whether merged or unmerged), and the distance between two canopies is represented as the minimum of the distances for each pairing of the center(s) in one canopy and the center(s) in the other canopy.

The metadata chunks from the first data source in the order and the second data source in the order may then be aligned to produce currently aligned metadata. Abstract: Methods of counting the number of matching items (more generally finding objects) indirectly associated with each detail selector (more generally another object) available for selection in a database search system or generally useful in other applications are disclosed. In some embodiment the method uses a set of matching items and traverses to each indirectly associated detail selector via a traversal through each associated entity, and a traversal through each detail selector associated with that entity. The method is easily extendable to the case of multiple entity levels. In some embodiments the method first creates an association matrix directly associating items to selectors and allowing item determination or counting more simply.

Abstract: In a corpus of scientific articles such as a digital library, documents are connected by citations and one document plays two different roles in the corpus: document itself and a citation of other documents. A Bernoulli Process Topic (BPT) model is provided which models the corpus at two levels: document level and citation level. In the BPT model, each document has two different representations in the latent topic space associated with its roles. Moreover, the multi-level hierarchical structure of the citation network is captured by a generative process involving a Bernoulli process. The distribution parameters of the BPT model are estimated by a variational approximation approach.

Abstract: A system and method for improving the accuracy of the automatic categorization of financial transactions provides a flexible and comprehensive approach to the automatic categorization of financial transactions whereby the payee data associated with the financial transaction and one or more of: data indicating the transaction amount, and how products and/or services of various kinds are typically priced; data indicating the time associated with the transaction; data indicating the time intervals between related transactions; and data indicating the transaction amount as compared to pricing data associated with the payee of the transaction, is analyzed to determine a financial category to automatically apply to the financial transactions.

A concept space containing a diverse set of concepts is defined. One example of a concept space is the set of on-line encyclopedia articles, each of which is an example of a concept. A text is scored for relevance against each concept, and a vector is created containing each of the scores. The vector represents the text's position in concept space. For any given substantive class of texts, the concept space may be divided into regions containing texts that are members/non-members of the class. The dividing boundary may be determined by training a classifier on a set of labeled examples of texts that fall inside and outside the class.

The method may include communicating an alert message to the user when the new tracks may be added to the streamable playlist. The method may create a category playlist associated with the user based on a category of a media content. A plurality of nodes and a plurality of edges are annotated within a call graph with information from execution data for executing the code and a topology of the data processing system to form an annotated call graph. Each node in the plurality of nodes is clustered into an associated cluster based on a subset of attributes used from the execution data or the topology to generate the annotated call graph to form a clustered call graph comprising a plurality of clusters. The execution data associated with each cluster in the plurality of clusters is process mined to form an existing process model. Processes identified within the existing process model are mapped to a proposed business-process model thereby forming a set of correlations between the existing process model and the proposed business-process model.

Abstract: Systems and methods for establishing standardization of radiology imaging procedure types and data related to such radiology imaging procedure types are disclosed herein. Radiology imaging data produced from radiology procedures at plurality of different systems and locations may produce different data formats and data values, even for the same radiology procedure. In one example, a radiology imaging order system is configured to standardize these different data formats and data values to a standardized format and identification that can be used for radiology study assignment, categorization, analytics, and related data federation activities. In further examples, multiple radiology procedures from respective facilities are normalized to a radiology procedure type schema, with each normalized radiology procedure type identifiable with a human-readable procedure identifier. Other examples of processing activities and use of the procedure identifier and standardized data are also disclosed herein.

In one embodiment, a method includes receiving a query data point for classification, an arbiter point, a first set of classified data points belonging to a first class and a second set of classified data points belonging to a second class. A class-aggregated similarity metric for the query data point and each set is determined based, at least in part, on tripoint arbitration coefficients for data point pairs that include the query data point and a classified data point in the set, as calculated using the arbiter point. The query data point is classified based on a comparison of the similarity metric determined for the first set and the similarity metric determined for the second set.

The method includes identifying a first topic within a first document and comparing the first topic to a first set of topics. The method then determines whether an emergence time for the first topic can be identified. The first topic is recognized as a new topic based on the comparison between the first set of topics and the emergence time for the first topic. For example, when the first topic does not exist within the first set of topics and the emergence time for the first topic can be identified, the first topic is recognized as a new topic.

The systems and methods may utilize various software, hardware, and firmware modules to identify notations, such as sheet names, anchors, and anchor references on construction documents. The identified notations are indexed and used to create hyperlinked pages that are easily navigable. In some embodiments, the hyperlinked pages may include previous- and next-sheet hyperlinks that allow for direct navigation within a set of pages, according to an order provided in an index.

Abstract: A method and system is provided for classifying and labeling information content and also for profiling a user for accessing the information content, both using a coordinated labeling technique so that content from multiple sources may be searched, identified and/or presented to the user according to the user's profile. This technique provides an ongoing update of information content and sources while filtering out unnecessary information that is irrelevant to the user's profile, resulting in focused availability of information to the user. The user profile is matched with content of interest and matching content information may automatically be updated and made available to a user, in conformity with the user's profile. Content providers may now jointly use a common labeling scheme to improve the experience of their users and to provide content providers a technique to associate users with common facets of classification.

A presentation of a comparison between the first attribute and the second attribute may be provided based on the second input.

Abstract: A data processing method is provided, which includes: performing a fingerprint calculation for each data element of a set of data elements to obtain fingerprint information of the data elements; grouping the data elements into data groups in accordance with the fingerprint information, including by grouping data elements with the same fingerprint information into a same data group; and selecting a particular data element from each of the data groups for modeling calculation. A corresponding device is described. With the technical solutions according to the present method, data processing amount for modeling calculation may be reduced, which may thereby reduce data processing time and improve the data processing efficiency.

Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for inferring topic evolution and emergence in a set of documents. In one embodiment, the method comprises forming a group of matrices using text in the documents, and analyzing these matrices to identify a first group of topics as evolving topics and a second group of topics as emerging topics. The matrices includes a first matrix X identifying a multitude of words in each of the documents, a second matrix W identifying a multitude of topics in each of the documents, and a third matrix H identifying a multitude of words for each of the multitude of topics. These matrices are analyzed to identify the evolving and emerging topics. In an embodiment, the documents form a streaming dataset, and two forms of temporal regularizers are used to help identify the evolving topics and the emerging topics in the streaming dataset.

Abstract: Methods, systems and software are described for analyzing micro-blog messages to detect activity of interest. The system includes a clusterer for clustering micro-blog messages received over a first period of time, a classifier for scoring the clustered messages; a knowledge base, a rule generator for generating classification rules from the knowledge base; and a matcher for matching the scored messages to information requests. Methods for operating the system and its components are described.

An input question is received and analyzed to identify at least one feature of the input question. Clustering of the input question with one or more other questions in a cluster of questions based on the at least one feature of the input question is performed. Based on results of the clustering, a determination is made as to whether to include or reject the input question as part of the cluster of questions. In response to determining to include the input question as part of the cluster of questions, the cluster of questions is updated to include the input question. The updated cluster of questions is stored in a storage device associated with a data processing system.

Abstract: A textual message processing system and method are described for use in a mobile environment. A user messaging application processes at least one user textual message during a user messaging session. A semantic annotation module identifies one or more semantically salient terms in the user textual message, and annotates the user textual message with annotation terms having a low semantic distance to the semantically salient terms. A user message history stores the annotated textual messages. The semantic annotation module may further annotate the user textual message with situational meta-data characterizing the user textual message. There may be a message search module for using one or more keywords to search the user message history including the annotation terms, and identifying as a search match any annotated textual messages within a semantic distance threshold of the one or more keywords.

Abstract: A system and method for providing an easy-to-use interface for verifying semantic tags in a steering application in order to generate a natural language grammar. The method includes obtaining user responses to open-ended steering questions, automatically grouping the user responses into groups based on their semantic meaning, and automatically assigning preliminary semantic tags to each of the groups. The user interface enables the user to validate the content of the groups to ensure that all responses within a group have the same semantic meaning and to add or edit semantic tags associated with the groups. The system and method may be applied to interactive voice response (IVR) systems, as well as customer service systems that can communicate with a user via a text or written interface.

Abstract: A method includes analyzing a cluster of conceptually-related portions of text to develop a model and calculating a novelty measurement between a first identified conceptually-related portion of text and the model. The method further includes transmitting a second identified conceptually-related portion of text and a score associated with the novelty measurement from a server to an access device via a signal. Another method includes determining at least two corpora of conceptually-related portions of text. The method also includes calculating a common neighbors similarity measurement between the at least two corpora of conceptually-related portions of text and if the common neighbors similarity measurement exceeds a threshold, merging the at least two corpora of conceptually-related portions of text into a cluster or if the common neighbors similarity measurement does not exceed a threshold, maintaining a non-merge of the at least two corpora of conceptually-related portions of text.

Abstract: Techniques are described for refining the manual classification of assets classified or categorized using the terms of a business glossary. A semantic refinement mechanism is used to refine the manual classification of such assets, as well as subsequently evaluate the refined asset classifications. Further, the refined asset classifications may be used as a training set for a machine learning classifier. That is, should the classification of an asset contributing to a refinement change, the refinement based on that classification may be undone, at least in some cases.

Abstract: A method includes identifying interrelated files stored on one or more storage devices for each topic grouping. The interrelated files correspond to a particular topic grouping and are determined based on metadata associated with the interrelated files. A relative importance for each of the interrelated files within each topic grouping is determined. The relative importance indicates an importance of each of the interrelated files in a corresponding topic grouping relative to the other files in the corresponding topic grouping based on metadata associated with the interrelated files. The method includes: receiving pre-determined basic attribute data of a user; calculating a distance between the basic attribute data and a cluster center point, based on the cluster point of the basic attribute data related to the calculation of user interest; comparing the distance with a predefined threshold; if the distance is less than the predefined threshold, determining that the user belongs to a cluster of the interest. As the embodiments of the invention take the basic attribute data from the data of registered users into consideration, the recommendation of corresponding content is executed before getting user behavior data of browsing operations, based on the cluster of interest obtained from register information. Thus the accuracy of recommending to new registered users may be improved.
