  • Publication number: 20150095353
Abstract: A method implemented in a data processing system includes receiving a plurality of text strings. A plurality of rules are applied to the text strings. If a condition specified in one of the rules exists in a given text string, one or more attributes are associated to that text string as metadata. One or more of the text strings are selected, using the metadata, as a potential title for the content. A final title is prepared based on the potential title, and the content is published online under the final title.

Abstract: A method for sharing verified identity documents is disclosed. The method is performed at one or more electronic devices. The client device obtains identity information of a user and a document. The client device extracts identity information from the document. The client device determines that the identity information of the user and the extracted identity information substantially match, and generates at least one verification rating for the document. The client device sends the document, the data extracted from the document, and the at least one verification rating to a server system remote from the client device. This information is then provided by the server system to another party upon approval by the user to share the information with that party.

  • Patent number: 8990199
Abstract: Visual incongruity in search result sets may be reduced at least in part by searching an optimized visually significant subset of a category tree that categorizes a collection of content. The category tree may be optimized at build time at least in part by pruning with respect to visual coherence and by the size of the content collection subset referenced by particular categories. Content collection subset sizes both too large and too small can detract from the visual significance of a particular category. The visually significant subset of the category tree may be further optimized at query time by intersecting the visually significant subset with the query-associated sub-tree(s) and further pruning categories in the visually significant subset that have child categories in the visually significant subset. Searching with respect to the optimized visually significant subset can also improve search efficiency.

Abstract: An item is determined to exist in a dataset by arranging the dataset into a plurality of subsets, each bounded by the minimum amount of memory that may be transferred between levels of memory in a memory configuration. The item and the subsets have attributes that allow for a determination of which subset the item would exist in if the item were in the dataset. A singular subset is transferred between levels of memory to determine whether the item exists in the transferred subset. If the item does not exist in the transferred subset, it is determined that the item does not exist in the dataset.

  • Patent number: 8959094
Abstract: As described herein, a database machine is provided with specialized hardware that can be used to accelerate the sort function. This hardware lowers the computation cost of performing a raw sort operation over the result rows. The hardware may be embodied in a direct circuit (e.g., ASIC), a programmable circuit (e.g., FPGA), a parallel compute engine (e.g., GPU) or any parallel computer. A hardware-assisted sort procedure provides for the early return of up to K results. This early return feature is critically valuable in database operations because often an entire result set is not required. For requests that require only the first L results, when L<=K the query can be satisfied with only a single pass over the data. The hardware- or GPU-assisted sort procedure, referred to herein as “scraper sort,” may be based on modifications of well-known, existing parallel sort algorithms.

  • Patent number: 8935223
Abstract: A highly flexible and extensible structure is provided for physically storing tabular data. The structure, referred to as a compression unit, may be used to store tabular data that logically resides in any type of table-like structure. According to one embodiment, compression units are recursive. Thus, a compression unit may have a “parent” compression unit to which it belongs, and may have one or more “child” compression units that belong to it. In one embodiment, compression units include metadata that indicates how the tabular data is stored within them. The metadata for a compression unit may indicate, for example, whether the data is stored in row-major or column major-format, the order of the columns within the compression unit (which may differ from the logical order of the columns dictated by the definition of their logical container), a compression technique for the compression unit, the child compression units (if any), etc.

Abstract: A unique application within Video that allows for user generated Meta-tagging to be delivered in real time to individual clips is provided. This meta-tag creates its own tail based upon the user generated words population, which is searchable via a “spider network” that runs invisible behind the web pages of the site. These same “tagged” words are broadcast over various delivery networks including but not limited to live feeds from SMS, MMS, News Feeds within Community Web Sites, Video Sharing Web Sites, Widget applications any other forms of electronic communication that will be dropped in real time to identified users and friends of users.

Abstract: According to certain embodiments, a search query for a search of samples of sensor data is received. The search query indicates one or more requested values of one or more data parameters. The samples are represented by a characteristic function indicating whether a given binary representation represents a sample. A query function representing the one or more requested values is formulated. The query function and the characteristic function are used to identify one or more samples that have the one or more requested values.

Abstract: A predefined sorting policy includes at least two sorting rules. Each one of at least two sorting rules is a static sorting rule or a dynamic sorting rule and is configured with a priority. Contact information is obtained according to the predefined sorting policy, wherein the contact information includes dynamic information and/or static information. Applying an order of the at least two sorting rules is determined in a descending order of priorities of the at least two sorting rules. The contacts are sorted according to the at least two sorting rules in turn based on the obtained contact information.

  • Patent number: 8924398
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer readable media for automatically generating Data Definition Language (DDL) commands from database log information is described. In general, techniques are disclosed for analyzing database log entries to identify those associated with targeted DDL commands and associating those entries with a DDL command object. The DDL command object may be used (immediately or at some later time) to generate a DDL commands corresponding to the (possibly many) aggregated log records associated with the command object. The use of multiple database log entries as described herein enables the generation of DDL commands that capture database activity occurring over a period of time (full time context auditing) and can, therefore, naturally account for database schema changes.

Abstract: Disclosure is related to a reconfigurable sorter and a method of sorting using the sorter. The reconfigurable sorting method is adapted to the sorter essentially consisting of multiple serially-connected comparison units. The each comparison unit includes two registers. The sorter is particularly a reconfigurable device according to the number of sorted numerals. According to the exemplary embodiment, an input mode is initiated firstly. Initial values are set to the registers. The numerals are sequentially inputted to the registers. At the input mode, the values in the registers may be shifted if necessary and mutually compared in every comparison unit. The values in the registers of every comparison unit may be swapped based on the comparison. At output mode, the numerals are outputted sequentially. The values in the registers are shifted and swapped until all numerals are completely outputted. The output appears the sorted numerals with low timing latency.

  • Patent number: 8918408
Abstract: A computing device maintains an input history in memory. This input history includes input strings that have been previously entered into the computing device. When the user begins entering characters of an input string, a predictive input engine is activated. The predictive input engine receives the input string and the input history to generate a candidate list of predictive inputs which are presented to the user. The user can select one of the inputs from the list, or otherwise continue entering characters. The computing device generates the candidate list by combining frequency and recency information of the matching strings from the input history. Additionally, the candidate list can be manipulated to present a variety of candidates. By using a combination of frequency, recency and variety, a favorable user experience is provided.
