Abstract: This patent application pertains to dynamic search interaction. One example includes an organizational component configured to obtain a search query from a user. The organizational component can also be configured to obtain related search queries. The organizational component can further be configured to organize the related search queries by topic and to estimate a relative likelihood that an intent of the user matches an individual topic. This example also includes an image generation component configured to cause the organized related search queries to be presented on a graphical user interface (GUI) in a manner that reflects the relative likelihood.

Abstract: When executed, a computer program product generates a graphical user interface that renders results that are responsive to a search query of a rich media file. The graphical user interface includes a chronological representation of the rich media file, one or more occurrence markers along the chronological representation corresponding to actual occurrences of a desired term at an indicated chronological location in the rich media file, and an execution icon configured to launch a rich media application that renders a relevant portion that is responsive to the search query.

Abstract: Techniques for comparing customer records to identify linked customer records pertaining to a single customer entity are provided. The techniques include identifying a target group of electronic customer records having data fields containing data pertaining to a customer, identifying one or more focused blockers identifying a data value for an electronic customer record data field, and analyzing the target group of electronic customer records to identify a focused group of electronic customer records containing the focused blocker data value. The techniques also include comparing pairs of electronic customer records from the focused group of electronic customer records to identify linked records which pertain to a single customer entity.

Abstract: Visualization for presenting event information indicative of a computer security threat is automatically selected from available visualizations. Event information received from data sources is assigned a category prior to being stored in an event log. The event log may be searched for relevant event information using the assigned categories. Visualizations applicable to the relevant event information are retrieved and given an importance score, which may be based on execution of prioritization algorithms using corresponding relevant event information. The retrieved visualizations are ranked based on their importance scores. One or more retrieved visualizations that have the best importance scores relative to other retrieved visualization are selected for rendering.

Abstract: A method for processing query data is described that includes receiving a query portion from a client over a network. For each of multiple search contexts, a relevance score is determined, based on the query portion. Each search context corresponds to a different set of information against which queries can be executed. Indication of the relevance scores is provided to the client over the network. Determining the relevance score and providing indication are performed prior to an input indicating a complete query or in response thereto. The method may also include associating shortcuts with search contexts, selecting a set of shortcuts based, at least in part, on the relevance scores for the search contexts and the association between the shortcuts and search contexts, and sending the set of shortcuts to the client. The shortcuts include links for accessing a content location associated with the shortcut.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer program products, for constructing text classifiers. The method includes receiving a collection of candidate phrases for a given topic; filtering the received candidate phrases to remove erroneously included candidate phrases; assigning weights to the candidate phrases including scoring each candidate phrase using an initial classifier and assigning weights to the candidate phrases based on the scores; and generating a linear classifier using the filtered and weighted candidate phrases, where the linear classifier varies the weights for each phrase candidate depending on the length of the document being classified.

The search results of these automatic searches are transformed into the search magazine format of the edition and provided for display in a current display view of a mobile device.

Abstract: Methods and systems for improving text segmentation are disclosed. In one embodiment, at least a first segmented result and a second segmented result are determined from a string of characters, a first frequency of occurrence for the first segmented result and a second frequency of occurrence for the second segmented result are determined, and an operable segmented result is identified from the first segmented result and the second segmented result based at least in part on the first frequency of occurrence and the second frequency of occurrence.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for classifying a search query. A first group of query classifiers can be used to evaluate a query relative to various subject matter domains. The evaluation results from the first group of domain classifiers can then be used by a second group of meta-classifiers. The meta-classifiers are based on non-linear classification models. The meta-classifiers are associated with meta-classifier categories that may correspond to a domain or that may correspond to a plurality of domains. The assigned meta-classifier category for a query can be used in any convenient manner, such as by triggering additional uses of the search query to match images or other alternative types of documents, or such as by allowing a subject matter domain to be assigned to the query.

Abstract: Disclosed are methods and apparatus for processing linguistic expressions (e.g., opinionated text documents). The linguistic expressions are processed by, firstly, detecting topics of interest discussed in the linguistic expressions. The sentiment, or sentiments, of an originator with respect to each of the topics detected in the linguistic expressions is then assessed. The originators are then grouped (or clustered) into one or more groups based on the similarities between the originators' respective sets of detected topics and corresponding sentiments. Semantic information is then associated with a given group. Finally, for a given member of a given group, a profile is created or updated. This profile comprises attributes that may be based on a degree of membership of the given member to the given group and the semantic information associated with the given group.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed herein for providing search results, particularly product records from a product database. Past queries are analyzed and grouped into clusters according to similarities, with each query including a highly relevant head query and a plurality of tail queries. Similarity of queries may be determined based on user response similarity to query results, co-occurrence, and textual similarity. One or more categories are identified for the clusters, such as based on click-through rates for search results of the head queries of the clusters. Upon receiving a query, a cluster for the query is identified, such as according to similarity to one or more queries of the cluster. The categories associated with the cluster are then used to one or both of augment the query and rank search results for the query.

Abstract: Open-domain question answering is the task of finding a concise answer to a natural language question using a large domain, such as the Internet. The use of a semantic role labeling approach to the extraction of the answers to an open domain factoid (Who/When/What/Where) natural language question that contains a predicate is described. Semantic role labeling identities predicates and semantic argument phrases in the natural language question and the candidate sentences. When searching for an answer to a natural language question, the missing argument in the question is matched using semantic parses of the candidate answers. Such a technique may improve the accuracy of a question answering system and may decrease the length of answers for enabling voice interface to a question answering system.

Keywords associated with a requested page and the categories might be utilized to identify a category. Once the category has been identified, the theme associated with the category may be applied to the requested page. The themed page may be provided for display at a customer computer. The amount of time spent by customers on themed pages may be determined and utilized to determine whether to theme certain pages or categories of pages.

Abstract: Computer-implemented systems and methods for discovering and presenting important information about a text object are disclosed. The system comprises a user interface for displaying important information extracted from a text object, serving as a preview of the topics, or as an automatically-generated tag or a summary of the content in the text object. Abstract: A system and method is provided for automatic and dynamic adaptation of cache groups in a database system having one or more processors. The method includes analyzing a database query and determining if a set of predicates in a predicate pattern are suitable for inclusion in one or more cache groups, with the one or more cache groups having one or more cache tables; mapping value-based predicates in the predicate pattern to a filling column in the one or more cache tables; and mapping equi-join predicates in the predicate pattern to a referential cache constraint in the one or more cache tables. New cache groups can be created for predicate patterns occurring more frequently and existing cache groups can be deleted if the frequency of the predicate pattern falls below a predetermined threshold value.

The presently disclosed systems and methods of identifying media content can extract one or more fingerprints from a plurality of video frames included in query video content, and, for each of the plurality of video frames from the query video content, perform frame-level fingerprint matching of the extracted fingerprints against fingerprints extracted from video frames included in a plurality of reference video content. Using the results of such frame-level fingerprint matching, the presently disclosed systems and methods of identifying media content can identify the query content in relation to an overall sequence of video frames from at least one of the plurality of reference content, and/or in relation to respective video frames included in a sequence of video frames from the reference content.

Abstract: In a data warehouse, a master table includes surrogate identifiers. Each surrogate identifier (SID) uniquely identifies a master table domain within the master table. A dimension table uses the surrogate identifiers to link to the master table domains. A SID generator uses first data supplied in a user query to generate a first SID indicating location of a particular master table domain in the master table. The SID generator generates the first SID without accessing the master table.

Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for generating content of a topic for an intended audience are described. Topic information regarding a topic to be presented to an intended audience is obtained, as well as knowledge information regarding the intended audience. One or more metaphors relating to the topic and understood by the intended audience can be determined based at least in part on the topic information and the knowledge information. Content can be generated for the topic information based on a comparative analysis of the topic information to at least one of the one or more metaphors.
