Abstract: Method and device for data storage are provided. The data storage method includes: generating a custom data structure which includes at least a first node, each node includes a first module for storing type identifiers and values of data, and a second module for storing a mapping list that stores mapping relationship between identifiers of child nodes of the each node and the child nodes; when receiving data every time, determining a storage location and a type of the received data if the received data is stored in the first node of the custom data structure, storing the type and a value of the received data in a first module of the first node; and if the received data is stored in a second node of the custom data structure, storing the type and the value of the received data in a first module of the second node.

Abstract: This invention is directed to a document processing system and control method thereof. The system stores a plurality of items of document data each containing metadata pertaining to the contents of each item of document data, and relation information representing the relations between the plurality of items of document data. When scanned image data or facsimile-received image data is input, document data related to the input image data is specified among the plurality of items of stored document data, based on the metadata contained in each item of document data. Relation information representing the relation between the input image data and the specified related document data is stored. Even document data obtained from a paper document is able to be stored as document data subjected to search processing.

Abstract: An extensible file system format for portable storage media is provided. The extensible file system format includes the specification of primary and secondary directory entry types that may be custom defined. The primary and secondary directory entry types can be further classified as critical and benign directory entries. The directory entry types can define whether a cluster chain corresponding to a file can be contiguously allocated.

Abstract: A method for computer systems management using mind map techniques comprises receiving a request to generate a graphical summarization of relationships of a particular entity associated with an information technology (IT) infrastructure with other entities associated with the infrastructure, and generating a graphical representation of the particular entity and its relationships as a mind map comprising a plurality of linked nodes. The network of nodes may include a primary node representing the particular entity, a first link from the primary node to a first sub-network of nodes representing a first relationship, and a second link from the primary node to a second sub-network of nodes representing a second relationship.

Abstract: Provided are methods and systems for distributing an asset to a multi-tiered network node. A pending notice is received from a distribution server. If the notice indicates that at least one asset is pending, i.e., awaiting deployment, an asset descriptor manifest is received from the distribution server. The asset descriptor manifest, which is stored in a memory on a node, identifies at least one asset to be deployed to the node and includes an offset associated with the asset identifier. A fragment, associated with the asset, is received and stored in the memory. The offset associated with the asset is marked with the end of the fragment and a second fragment, beginning at the offset, is received. Additional fragments are received, and the offset updated, until the entire asset is deployed to the node. Alternately, the entire asset or multiple assets are received in the first fragment.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to an archival data storage system. The archival data storage system includes write once and read many (WORM) capability, data redundancy, error correction, and access control. The combination of these capabilities enable the archival storage system to be secure, error proof, and reliable. Additionally, to provide fast data access time, solid state storage devices are used in place of conventional tape drive. Solid state storage devices such as, for example, flash memory devices are fast, versatile and reliable.

In various embodiments, such processing of the index and storing of the metadata can facilitate, for example, enhanced data management operations, enhanced data identification operations, enhanced storage operations, data classification for organizing and storing the metadata, cataloging of metadata for the stored metadata, and/or user interfaces for managing data. In various embodiments, the metabase can be configured in different ways. For example, the metabase can be stored separately from the data objects so as to allow obtaining of information about the data objects without accessing the data objects or a data structure used by a file system.

Abstract: An application development tool can support sampling of data from one or more providers of data that will be queried by the application under development at runtime. The sampling results can be used to provide hints or suggestions at development time so that a developer defining code segments that make reference to data resulting from such queries can produce code segments having the proper context to reference the data of interest. The sampling results can comprise a plurality of parameters and the application development tool can provide a user interface whereby a user can indicate custom type declarations for the returned parameters and/or identify a subset of the parameters returned by a query as being of interest. Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer-readable medium for storing variables in a non-volatile computer memory are provided. The computer-readable medium has a data structure stored thereon that includes a first data field for storing a variable record including a header and variable information. The data structure also includes a second data field for storing a GUID for the variable. The variable record may comprise a full record or a data only record. A full record contains all of the identifying information for the record and the variable value. A data only record includes only an updated value for the variable. When a request is received to retrieve the variable value, the data structure is searched to locate the most recently created record for the variable. The value stored in this record is then returned in response to the request. Periodically, a garbage collection process may be performed to reduce the records stored for each variable to a single full record.

Abstract: Any client application uses a namespace application to resolve its pathname in order to reference a computer file. Computer files are stored in a fixed-content storage cluster and are accessed by retrieving a unique identifier for the computer file using the namespace application. Any type of pathname scheme from any client application is supported by the namespace. The namespace application uses a bindings table to record bindings between objects including the start date and end date for each binding, and direction and separator data used in the pathname scheme. An attribute table in the namespace keeps track of each attribute and its value for each object of the namespace including a start date and an end date for each attribute. The namespace provides syntactic generality in that any pathname scheme of a client application can be resolved to identify a unique computer file in the storage cluster.

In one embodiment, a computer system receives a request for a portion of binary object data, sends a query to a database server requesting access to the binary object data, and receives a binary object reference. The computer system sends a binary object data access request based on the binary object reference to the binary object store using a binary object store interface, and receives the binary object data corresponding to the binary object data access request. The binary object data comprises a portion of data files. The computer system also sends the received binary object data to the user.

One or more links are provided in place of the stashed portions of data. The application uses the links in a same or similar fashion as handling local data while providing little to no loss of functionality due to all or portions of the local data being stashed.

The server computer is configured to generate a user interactive interface that interactively displays at least one of the plurality of levels reflecting information related to a policy, the claim, claimants and an insured person in a structured format to a plurality of users, and to allow each of the users to simultaneously interact with one of the plurality of levels to retrieve and enter data for the same insurance claim.

Abstract: Systems and methods for storing assets in storage systems external to asset management systems while still allowing the asset management systems to track the stored assets are disclosed. One method begins by first receiving an asset to be stored in an asset management system. Next, a first location on a storage managed by the asset management system is determined. A second location on a storage system external to the asset management system is then determined. The external storage system has been configured to store the asset. The asset is then stored at the second location. A logical link is then determined to the second location. Finally, the logical link is stored at the first location. The disclosed systems and methods allow for an administrator to separate the storage methods used by asset management systems from the asset tracking and logging capabilities of asset management systems.

Abstract: Method(s) and system(s) for identifying an application behavior of a multi-tenant application for a tenant are described herein. The method includes determining whether a reference attribute of the multi-tenant application is encountered by the tenant. The reference attribute is an application attribute for which variations from a default behavior of the multi-tenant application are available. Based on the determining, it is ascertained whether a configuration template is defined for the tenant. Further, based on the ascertainment of the configuration template, the application behavior corresponding to the tenant is identified. The identified application behavior is provided to the multi-tenant application such that multi-tenant application exhibits the identified application behavior.

Abstract: The initial systems analysis of a new data source fully defines each data element and also designs, tests and encodes complete data integration instructions for each data element. A metadata cache stores the data element definition and data element integration instructions. The metadata cache enables a comprehensive view of data elements in an enterprise data architecture. When data is requested that includes data elements defined in a metadata cache, the metadata cache and associated software modules automatically generate database elements to fully integrate the requested data elements into existing databases.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for processing a CREATE INDEX statement that avoids one or more locks on the underlying table. The processing of such a statement may be divided into a build phase and a cooperation phase. During the build phase, a journal table is created and published. A snapshot of the table is obtained after the last DML transaction (that was pending at the time the journal table was published) commits. The index is built based on the state of the table as of the snapshot. Any changes to the table while the index is built are recorded in the journal table. During the cooperation phase, the index is partially published. A subsequent DML statement determines whether any changes in the journal table affect the same data as the subsequent DML statement. If so, then those changes are applied to the index followed by the subsequent DML statement.

Abstract: A system for interaction with datasets includes a computer having a processor, a memory, and modules with code that executes in the processor. An editor module creates a dataset container file (DCF) in which a location and a structure of one or more datasets is defined and used to select positions for commentary within a presentation of the DCF contents. An import module is operative to import a first dataset from the defined location. An interface module is operative to obtain author-commentary and associate the author-commentary with the first dataset in response to interaction with a user. A synchronization module is operative to coordinate on a display a presentation of a portion of at least one of the datasets defined in the DCF in accordance with a selected position on a timeline. The presentation includes the author-commentary within the timeline. The datasets and the author-commentary are included in the DCF.

Abstract: A system and method for storing a data object in a single-instance storage system are described. The data object may be deconstructed into a template and one or more values. If the template is not already stored in the single-instance storage system then it may be stored. Otherwise an existing copy of the template may be referenced. Similarly, existing copies of the values may be referenced if they are already present, or otherwise the values may be stored. Reconstruction information useable to reconstruct the data object may also be stored. The reconstruction information may reference the template and the one or more values stored in the single-instance storage system.

Abstract: Distributed storage of collaboration data is managed over internal and external data stores in a collaboration service environment based on categorization of the data. The categorization may be based on type of data (e.g. structured vs. unstructured), how the data is accessed, an expected storage life for the data, back-up requirements, and the like. Data that can be stored externally according to its category is then directed to the external storage through a storage provider. A unique identifier associated with the location of the externally stored data is saved in one of the internal data stores for seamless retrieval of data in a transparent manner to the user.

In one embodiment, the tool includes a user interface layer, a business layer, a data layer, and a database. The tool may be implemented as a web server accessible to user workstations operating as thin clients.

After data IDs are set in the generated folder so that the obtained by the search data can be acquired via the generated folder, the folder is transmitted to the external device.

Abstract: A system and method for transferring digital goods facilitates bulk upload of file images to a central repository. The software gets a File ID and a path to each file image to be uploaded from a list, typically an XML file, of input attributes. After successful verification, the file image is uploaded to the central repository and linked with a corresponding metadata object. Each metadata object contains attributes that describe the corresponding file image. Although file attributes may be defined when the metadata object is created, the software determines file image attributes as the file image is being uploaded and records them in the metadata object. File images are either uploaded from a server, typically an FTP server, having been placed there by the goods vendor; or the file images can be uploaded directly from a computer operated by the vendor.

A second deduplicator is selectively operated to determine whether the incoming data segment is a duplicate based on second information available to the second deduplicator; wherein the selective operation of the second deduplicator depends on the determination made by the first deduplicator.

Abstract: A mechanism works in conjunction with a DB2® Log and an analysis tool, such as BMC's Log Master™, to handle logged data for Large Objects (LOBs) stored in tables of a DB2 database system. A plurality of controls track data logged for the LOBs. The mechanism reads log records from a DB2 Log and uses the controls to determine which of the tracked LOBs is associated with the log records and obtains data from those associated log records. The mechanism builds keys to index the data and stores the keys and the data in a Virtual Storage Access Method store having Key Sequenced Data Sets maintained separate from the log record store for the DB2 Log. When requested by the analysis tool, the data in the store can be reassembled using the keys and map records in the first store that map the logged data for the tracked LOBs.
