  • Patent number: 8751529
Abstract: A method, system, and processor-readable storage medium are directed towards generating a report derived from data, such as event data, stored on a plurality of distributed nodes. In one embodiment the analysis is generated using a “divide and conquer” algorithm, such that each distributed node analyzes locally stored event data while an aggregating node combines these analysis results to generate the report. In one embodiment, each distributed node also transmits a list of event data references associated with the analysis result to the aggregating node. The aggregating node may then generate a global ordered list of data references based on the list of event data references received from each distributed node. Subsequently, in response to a user selection of a range of global event data, the report may dynamically retrieve event data from one or more distributed nodes for display according to the global order.

  • Patent number: 8732205
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention are directed to determining a universal device identifier (UDID) for a client device, based on multiple service-dependent identifiers (SDIDs) used by client applications, websites, or other services to identify the client device. SDID types are prioritized with pre-assigned weights. A received SDID causes a single database read to access all other SDIDs, and any existing UDID(s) associated with the client device. A final UDID is created or selected based on the SDID weights. The database is updated in a sequence that enables self recovery of a prior UDID in case of database error during update. First, any non-selected UDID records are updated with the final UDID. Next, lower weighted SDID records are updated. The final UDID record is updated. The highest weighted SDID record is updated last, to preserve the prior UDID as long as possible in case of update error, which aborts the remaining update.

  • Patent number: 8713062
Abstract: Member object(s) of a computer system part(s) in an Enterprise Information System (EIS) are identified (discovered) and topographical relationship(s) are established among them to create digital assets by traversing computer file system(s) to find member object(s). For each member object found, a digital asset identifier thereof is placed in an intermediate representation, such as a graph with nodes and edges. Each digital asset identifier corresponds to a node. The edges represent the topographical relationship. A digital asset is created by placing the member object in a logic/data section of the digital asset, attaching an extended environment data structure to the logic/data section and storing the digital asset in an asset inventory container object. This is repeated for each found member object until the intermediate representation fully describes the computer system part and the asset inventory container object is a complete inventory of the digital assets in the computer system part.

For example, the business process problem may relate to predicting a customer's propensity to make purchases in the future or a store's requirements for inventory in the future. In the process, a computer implemented method is used for automatically transforming data for data analysis such as predictive modeling. Database metadata that describe database tables, their interrelationships, dimensional information, fact tables and measures are accessed. A mining transformation profile is created to encapsulate aggregations and transformation on data stored in relational databases in order to convert the data to forms suitable for predictive mining tools.

  • Patent number: 8650217
Abstract: A compression method for a data transfer that is independent of computer architecture and/or a decompression method for a data record that contains structural indicators and variable values are provided. The method includes the following steps: provision of a string automaton, which represents the structuring rules of the data record in a unit that compresses the original data record; input of the data record into the string automaton; generation of a second, shorter data record by the string automaton, the record containing the variable values of the first data record and control symbols that are specific to the string automaton equipment, the symbols representing a switch from an automaton condition to a sequence condition; and transmission of the second data record to a similar string automaton, which interprets the control symbols, whereby a copy of the original data record with an identical data structure is generated.

  • Patent number: 8650216
Abstract: Distributed storage of collaboration data is managed over internal and external data stores in a collaboration service environment based on categorization of the data. The categorization may be based on type of data (e.g. structured vs. unstructured), how the data is accessed, an expected storage life for the data, back-up requirements, and the like. Data that can be stored externally according to its category is then directed to the external storage through a storage provider. A unique identifier associated with the location of the externally stored data is saved in one of the internal data stores for seamless retrieval of data in a transparent manner to the user.

Abstract: Systems and methods for managing mapping information for objects maintained in a distributed storage system are provided. The distributed storage system can include a keymap subsystem that manages the mapping information according to object keys. Requests for specific object mapping information are directed to specific keymap coordinators within the keymap subsystem. Each keymap coordinator can maintain a cache for caching mapping information maintained at various information sources. To manage the cache, the keymap system can utilize generation identifiers that identify the component within the distributed storage system that last updated information sources. Each keymap coordinator can determine whether cached version of keymap information is valid based on an analysis of generation identifiers.

Abstract: An example computing device includes a prefix lookup module, and a Bloom filter that includes a set of queues. The prefix lookup module is configured to receive policy configuration information, examine a state of a queue of the set of queues, and determine whether to bypass the first Bloom filter based on the policy configuration information and the state of the queue. In one example, the prefix lookup module may be configured to, using the policy configuration information, determine to bypass the Bloom filter when the queue is full. In another example, the prefix lookup module may be configured to, using the policy configuration information, determine not to bypass the Bloom filter and send a lookup request to the Bloom filter upon determining that the queue is no longer full.

  • Patent number: 8631043
Abstract: A capability is provided for representing a set of data values using data structures, including converting a binary trie data structure representing the set of data values to a shape graph data structure representing the set of data values. The shape graph data structure is generated from the binary trie data structure based on the shapes of the sub-trees rooted at the nodes of the binary trie data structure. The shape graph includes vertices representing shapes of the sub-trees of the binary trie data structure. A shape graph data structure permits operations similar to the operations that may be performed on the binary trie data structure for performing lookups for data values from the set of data values, while at the same time reducing the structural redundancy of the binary trie data structure such that the shape graph data structure provides significant improvements in memory usage over the binary trie data structure.

Abstract: Embodiments described herein are directed to providing enhanced database editing and reporting capabilities. In one scenario, a computer system receives a data item request that identifies which data items are to be reported. The computer system accesses a relational data store to determine which information sets are to be used for reporting the requested data items. Based on the determination, the computer system accesses those information sets that are to be used in the reporting the requested data items. The computer system then determines that metadata has been provided for at least one of the accessed information sets. The metadata includes instructions at least partially indicating how the data items are to be reported. The computer system also reports the data items according to the instructions in the provided metadata, regardless of how the data items are to be reported using the existing information sets.
