Abstract: Object store management operations within compute-centric object stores are provided herein. An exemplary method may include transforming an object storage dump into an object store table by a table generator container, wherein the object storage dump includes at least objects within an object store that are marked for deletion, transmitting records for objects from the object store table to reducer containers, such that each reducer container receives object records for at least one object, the object records comprising all object records for the at least one object, generating a set of cleanup tasks by the reducer containers, and executing the cleanup tasks by a cleanup agents.

Abstract: A storage unit stores therein information for specifying a cell contained in a file in a table format and attribute information on the file in an associated manner. When first information is stored in the storage unit in association with attribute information on a first file in a table format and second information is stored in the storage unit in association with attribute information on a second file in a table format, whether there is a relevance between the first file and the second file is determined by comparing the first information and the second information by referring to the storage unit.

Abstract: In accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure, an information handling system may include a processor and a program of instructions embodied in a computer-readable medium. The instructions may be configured to, when read and executed by the processor: (i) store in an image map file one or more range descriptors recording one or more physical memory address ranges storing code to be installed to a second information handling system; and (ii) store in the image map file one or more hashes, each hash associated with code stored in a respective one of the one or more physical memory address ranges.

Abstract: The file management server refers, when file information on at least two files targeted for association is acquired, to a storing unit that stores therein condition information, in which conditions for determining whether association between files is permitted are set, and determines whether the two files in the file information satisfy a condition that is set in the condition information and associates, when the condition is satisfied, the two files.

Abstract: A big data database managed by a procurement service aggregates purchase data received from federal, state and local government agencies through Freedom of Information Act requests, state public records requests and private sector business entities. An automated system processes a vast amount of purchase data files acquired from numerous different agencies through a number of different transports, on a variety of different media, included within several different file formats. A best match is selected for each acquired file with one of a multitude of configuration files available to process the purchase files. The file is then processed with the selected configuration file and aggregated into the database. The database is then made available to customers of the procurement service for search, reports and analysis purposes.

Abstract: A media container file (1) is generated by organizing media data (2; 3) defined by a media track (12) in the file (1). Sub-track information (72, 74) identifying media data portions (4, 5; 6, 7, 8) of the media data (2; 3) is organized for each sub-track of multiple sub-tracks defined in the media track (12). At least one of the sub-tracks is assigned selection information (62, 64) defining a selective processing of the media data portion (4, 5; 6, 7, 8) defined by the sub-track in relation to other media data organized in the media container file (1). The media data (2, 3) advantageously relate to layered media or media defining multiple camera views which are organized into sub-tracks (12). The selection information (62, 64) allows selection among tracks (12) and sub-tracks when setting up a media session and switching between tracks (12) and sub-tracks during such a media session.

Abstract: An indication of refusal of a lock request is received with a first operation identifier for a resource that is already locked with a lock associated with a second operation identifier from an agent that controls the resource, wherein the agent returns a value that determines how long the lock request is to stay on the queue. The lock request is placed in a queue with a lock queue timeout period based on the value from the agent. The lock request is reissued if the lock associated with the second operation identifier has been released and the lock request reaches a position of the queue from which the lock request is processed within the lock queue timeout period. The lock request is re-queued if the reissued lock request is not granted based on how many times the lock request has been previously placed in the queue.

Abstract: A system for determining a time that a file was created and associating an ID with the file based on the file creation time is disclosed. The system adjusts the creation time by a time zone offset. In the case of image files, the file creation time may be based on information associated with the image: (1) by the camera that took the picture (exchangeable image file data); (2) when the photo was last modified in memory (file modification time data); (3) based on the raw date and time the photo file was created (file date-time data); and (4) when the photo was imported onto a client device. The system may rename the file with this adjusted creation time to create a standardized name. As a result, the standardized name provides a filename nomenclature that is based on the actual or estimated time of when the file was created.

Abstract: In a system that includes a selection device, a method is provided that includes playing a media file with the system, and adjusting one or more media playback settings based on metadata associated with the media file.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for a delayed secure deletion of files from a copy-on-write file system. A system configured to practice the method receives a change to a file, writes a copy of the file in a first block of a storage device, the copy including the change, determines whether the change meets a predetermined condition, adds an entry into a delayed secure deletion list when the change triggers the predetermined condition, the entry storing an address associated with the first block, and deletes the first block when another change to the file is received, wherein the another change triggers another predetermined event.

Abstract: A social networking system contains information describing users of the social network and various connections among the users. A user can access multiple external systems that communicate with the social networking system to access information about the users of the social networking system. Login status of the user account on the social networking system is maintained. If the login status of the user account on the social networking system indicates that the user is not logged in, the user is required to provide authentication information. If the login status of the user account indicates that the user is logged in, social network information is provided to the user via an external system, subject to the privacy settings of users of the social networking system. If the user logs out from an external system, the user is also logged out from the social networking system.

Abstract: A file information processing method for a portable device is provided. The method comprises receiving at least a file data from an information providing platform by the portable device. A personal terminal device corresponds to the portable device in the information providing platform and the information providing platform provides several information items which correspond to files respectively. The information providing platform receives at least a selecting signal for selecting at least one of the information items and transmits a file data of the file corresponding to the selected information items to the portable device. The portable device provides a file list listing file items corresponding to the received file data respectively.

Abstract: An extent-based storage architecture is implemented by a storage server receiving a read request for an extent from a client, wherein the extent includes a group of contiguous blocks and the read request includes a file block number. The storage server retrieves an extent identifier from a first sorted data structure, wherein the storage server uses the received file block number to traverse the first sorted data structure to the extent identifier. The storage server retrieves a reference to the extent from a second sorted data structure, wherein the storage server uses the retrieved extent identifier to traverse the second sorted data structure to the reference, and wherein the second sorted data structure is global across a plurality of volumes. The storage server retrieves the extent from a storage device using the reference and returns the extent to the client.

Abstract: A method may include identifying a media file to be retrieved from storage, transmitting a request for information identifying a location of the media file and identifying the location of the media file. The method may also include forwarding the identified location, transmitting a request for the media file and receiving the request for the media file. The method may further include creating a copy of the media file, storing a first virtual location corresponding to a location of the copy and forwarding a message indicating that the identified media file is available for processing.

Abstract: Disclosed are systems and software that provide a high-performance, extensible file format and web API for remote data access and a visual interface for data viewing, query, and analysis. The described system supports can support storage of raw spectroscopic data such as neural recording data, MSI data, metadata, and derived analyses in a single, self-describing format that may be compatible by a large range of analysis software.

Abstract: A recording apparatus having a recording unit for recording a moving image file including a first area to store moving image data and a second area to store meta data into a recording medium generates first position information regarding a position of the moving image data in the first area and second position information which can represent a larger value than the first position information with respect to the position of the moving image data in the first area, stores both of the generated first and second position information into the second area, and records them as a moving image file into the recording medium.

Abstract: A multiple file system and/or multi-host single instance store technique includes receiving one or more commands and one or more parameters to create a single instance store, a plurality of volumes and one or more file systems. Information creating the plurality of volumes, including creating a plurality of thin volumes on top of a single instance store solution, are stored in a volume manager configuration file. Information creating the one or more file systems, wherein each file system is created on top of the plurality of volumes including the plurality of thin volumes, are stored in a file system configuration file.

Abstract: A method and system for storage checkpointing of an independent computer application. The independent computer application is launched by a coordinator; and the coordinator installs at least one of an exec interceptor and a fork interceptor. The coordinator also installs at least one file operations interceptor for all file operations and registers the independent computer application with the coordinator. The independent computer application is run and the at least one file operations interceptor is called upon encountering a file operation. The file operations interceptor logs a file event in a file operations database and passes the operation to at least one of a file system, an operating system, at least one or more device drivers, and a storage disk via a storage interface. The file operations interceptor also verifies that the file operation has been issued.

Abstract: Preparing source data to be replicated in a continuous data replication environment. Certain systems and methods populate a file name database with entries having a unique file identifier descriptor (FID), short name and a FID of the parent directory of each directory or file on a source storage device. Such information is advantageously gathered during scanning of a live file system without requiring a snapshot of the source storage device. The database can be further used to generate absolute file names associated with data operations to be replayed on a destination storage device. Based on the obtained FIDs, certain embodiments can further combine write operations to be replayed on the destination storage device and/or avoid replicating temporary files to the destination system.

Abstract: A similarity analysis framework is described herein which leverages two or more similarity analysis functions to generate synonyms for an entity reference string re. The functions are selected such that the synonyms that are generated by the framework satisfy a core set of synonym-related properties. The functions operate by leveraging query log data. One similarity analysis function takes into consideration the strength of similarity between a particular candidate string se and an entity reference string re even in the presence of sparse query log data, while another function takes into account the classes of se and re. The framework also provides indexing mechanisms that expedite its computations. The framework also provides a reduction module for converting long entity reference strings into shorter strings, where each shorter string (if found) contains a subset of the terms in its longer counterpart.

Abstract: Provided are methods, systems, and computer readable media for user interaction with database methods and systems. In an aspect, a user interface can be generated to permit dynamic display generation to view data. The system can comprise a visualization component to dynamically generate one or more visual representations of the data to present in the state space.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for creating and reading a contiguous file in an extensible file system. During the creation of a file on the storage media, the file system format check the bitmap to determine if there are areas of free space on the media that would permit the storage of the file in a contiguous manner. By storing the file in a contiguous manner the file may later be read without resorting to the file allocation table, because the file itself would not be fragmented on the storage media. Once an area of free space has been identified, the file is written to the media in a contiguous manner. Further, an associated entry for the file in the directory entry is updated or created to indicate that the file is a contiguous file and also provides basic parameters necessary to read the file without resorting to accessing the file allocation table.

Abstract: A content management system (CMS) includes a value-add application with a first set of XML content services, one or more dedicated XML processing servers with a second and other sets of XML content services, and a core CMS with a third set of XML content services. The content management system may be designed to provide XML content services at any of these three tiers of processing. A first threshold is defined that allows the value-add application to determine when to offload XML content services to a dedicated XML processing server. A second threshold is defined that allows the core CMS to determine when to offload XML content services to a dedicated XML processing server. Callback services are included that allow each tier of XML content services to send or receive additional information to complete the XML processing. The result is a content management system that is very powerful and flexible.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a system and method for creating a non-redundant data set from a plurality of data sources. Generally, the system and method operate by creating unique hash keys corresponding to unique data files; compiling the hash keys along with seeking information for the corresponding data files; de-duplicating the hash keys; and retrieving/storing the data files corresponding to the de-duplicated hash keys. Thus, in accordance with the system and method of the present invention, a non-redundant data set can be created from a plurality of data sources. The system of the present invention can operate independently or in conjunction with any de-duplicating methods and systems. For example, a de-duplicating method and system can be used to read and obtain data from a variety of media, regardless of the application used to generate the backup media. The component parts of a file may be read from a medium, including content and metadata pertaining to a file.

Abstract: A search request received at a computer of a search support system is processed by analyzing the received search request to identify request parameters and connecting to a system index of the search support system that is referenced in the request parameters. An external result provider (ERP) process is initiated that establishes communication between the search support system and a data source external to the search support system, for a virtual index referenced in the request parameters. Thus, the ERP process provides an interface between the search support system and external data sources, such as by third parties. The ERP process can operate in a streaming mode (providing real-time search results with minimal processing) and/or a reporting mode (providing results with a greater delay and processing extent) and can switch between modes. The search request results are received from the connected system indexes and the referenced virtual indexes.

Abstract: File system views are created for each application executed by a user, where this user-specific view comprises operating system files needed to run the application and file system changes made with this application for this user. Changes made to the file system during execution are allowed (in accordance with the user's permissions), but by default, those changes are not visible to other applications or to other users. Optionally, a user or administrator may specify that one or more file system views are to be accessible from other views. The view-specific isolation of file system changes applies also to system files and meta-data alterations that might be made to the operating system. In one alternative approach, file system views may be created for an application without regard to individual users, where that application's view is then used for all users who execute the application.

Abstract: Discovering environment objects for information management in a networked environment. Information management provides services such as data protection, backup, retention, compliance, etc., by classifying the objects and/or infrastructure of an entity according to its value to the entity. Information management begins by discovering the data in a network and by discovering the servers and services operating in a network. The servers and services are discovered using adapters that can collect information regarding the environment objects. This information can then by used by information management systems to assign or orchestrate various services.

Abstract: A method for identifying data for relocation in a multivolume file system. The method includes generating a file location map, the file location map containing a list of the locations of files that occupy space on each of a plurality of volumes of the file system, wherein The file system comprising least a first volume and a second volume. The method further includes updating the file location map in accordance with changes in a file change log for the file system, and identifying data residing on the first volume of the file system by scanning the file location map. Using the identified data, a ratio of per-file activity during a first time period relative to overall file system activity over a second time period is calculated to derive a file activity ratio for each of the files of the identified data. Files are then selected for relocation based on the file activity ratio.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a docbase management system and a method for extending docbase management system functions. The method includes: determining an extended function module which matches extended data, wherein, the extended function module is compatible with a system extension interface in a docbase management system; invoking, through the system extension interface of the docbase management system, the determined extended function module to process the extended data. The method provided by the present invention enables the docbase management system functions to be extended without recompiling the docbase management system.

An apparatus may comprise a processor circuit and a virtual file application operative on the processor circuit to manage file operations for a virtual file, the virtual file comprising a set of calls to one or more file services arranged to manage file information for the virtual file, the file information comprising a content block or content block instructions for a content block associated with the virtual file. Abstract: A method for generating a probabilistic relational database based on a previous relational database, wherein the probability estimation is carried out within the relational paradigm. The method may include frequency-based and information theoretic based (idf-based) estimation of tuple probabilities. The method generalises the use of information retrieval ranking methods such that these and new ranking methods are available for relational databases.

Abstract: Systems and methods for storing and accessing data on a removable media having a changeable data set and an immutable data set. In one embodiment, a system can comprise a removable media storage system adapted to determine whether a host system running one or more applications is configured to enforce Write Once Read Many (WORM) policies. The host system can be communicatively coupled with the removable media storage system and configured to execute instructions causing the host system to determine whether to allow or deny a request to access data on the removable media. The host system can use rules to determine if an access request is to access data of a changeable data set or a immutable data set. If the request is to access data of the changeable data set, access is allowed. If the request is to access data of the immutable data set, reads are allowed, as well as writes of new data. Access requests to rename, delete, and/or write to existing data of the immutable data set are denied.

Abstract: Various embodiments present file indexes within a file managing and navigation interface. In one embodiment, a set of files is presented within a user interface of a file managing and navigation application. A visual indicator is associated with at least one file in the set of files. The visual indicator indicates to a user that the at least one file is associated with an index. The index includes a set of index components associated with a content set of the at least one file. A request from the user to is received to display the index. The index is presented to the user within the user interface based on receiving the request.

Abstract: Methods, systems and software are described for analyzing micro-blog messages to detect abnormal activity of interest. The system includes a clusterer for clustering micro-blog messages received over a first period of time, a classifier for scoring the clustered messages; a knowledge base, a rule generator for generating classification rules from the knowledge base; and a matcher for matching the scored messages to information requests. Methods for operating the system and its components are described.

Abstract: A system and method for representing, storing and retrieving real-world knowledge on a computer or network of computers is disclosed. Knowledge is broken down into permanent atomic “facts” which can be stored in a standard relational database and processed very efficiently. It also provides for the efficient querying of a knowledge base, efficient inference of new knowledge and translation into and out of natural language. Queries can also be processed with full natural language explanations of where the answers came from. The method can also be used in a distributed fashion enabling the system to be a large network of computers and the technology can be integrated into a web browser adding to the browser's functionality.

Abstract: Methods, systems and articles of manufacture for cross-platform cloud based map creation are described herein. A method embodiment includes receiving one or more GIS datasets in their respective source formats, each GIS dataset comprising one or more map assets, translating the GIS datasets into a platform independent format, and providing the translated GIS datasets and their respective map assets in the platform independent format to one or more client platforms. The embodiment further includes identifying missing map assets and metadata that comprise a GIS dataset, tracking map assets that comprise a single translated GIS dataset to maintain the translated GIS dataset as a single entity, and providing the translated GIS datasets to a serving system.

Abstract: A unique system, method, and user interface are provided that facilitate more efficient indexing and retrieval of images. In particular, the systems and methods involve annotating or geo-coding images with their location metadata. Geo-coded images can be displayed on a map and browsed or queried based on their location metadata. Images can be annotated one by one or in bulk to reduce repetitiveness and inconsistency among related images. More specifically, selected images can be dropped onto a map, thereby triggering a virtual marker to appear. The virtual marker facilitates pinpointing the precise location associated with the images on the map with a higher level of granularity. The system and method can also generate customized directions and include geo-coded images throughout to serve as visual landmarks. Privacy controls can be employed as well to control access and modification of the images.

Abstract: Volumes of a file system remain online, and thus available for use, while being proactively error scanned for corruptions thereon. A snapshot of each volume being proactively error scanned is maintained for the volume during the proactive error scanner processing of the volume. Proactive error scanner processing only requires access to file system metadata to correctly process a volume for an identification of the corruptions thereon, and thus, a snapshot of the entire volume nerd not be generated nor maintained. The clusters of a volume that store file system metadata are identified and only these clusters are maintained in a scoped snapshot for the volume during proactive error scanning of the volume.

Abstract: An operation-definition-file creating apparatus includes a setting data file in which setting data of a setting item that is to be set in an MFP is defined. A creating unit creates, on the basis of the setting data, an operation definition file in which an operation for reflecting the setting data in the MFP is described and a saving unit saves the created operation definition file in an external storage medium.

Abstract: An object display apparatus displays a plurality of object at respective display positions, and receive a designation to set one of the plurality of displayed object as an object of interest. Upon reception of an addition or deletion instruction of one or more objects with respect to the plurality of displayed objects, a display of the objects is updated by moving object other than the object of interest while keeping the display position of the designated object of interest.

Abstract: A system and method allows users to provide portions of scripts or scripts for retrieval of information from one or more web sites of one or more businesses by demonstrating operation of the one or more web sites and identifying locations of one or more fields on each web page of the one or more web sites, and the system and method stores the scripts and uses the scripts to retrieve information from such web site or web sites for any number of users. Different portions of different scripts may be used as a single script to retrieve information from a single web site. Scripts or portions of scripts may be repaired using information from previously working scripts or portions, the web site when the script or portion worked, and the web site when the script or portion did not work.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and techniques for discovering information using structured investments in an invention network are provided. Example embodiments provide an investment tool which allows users to invest currency in disclosures, ideas, topics, inventions, patent applications, patents, etc. which they determine will ultimately be successful. In one embodiment, the inventions are organized by schema to enable participants to invest or otherwise participate according to particular aspects. These aspects are typically areas in which the participant has or will have established a reputation for successful results in accordance with some future outcome.

Abstract: A file discovery method, comprising receiving file discovery data comprising, for each of a plurality of files, discovery information and signature data, the discovery information for a first file of the plurality of files being indicative of at least one directory to be scanned for another of the plurality of files relative to a first directory, scanning, in a first scanning operation, a file system for the first file, and scanning, in a second scanning operation subsequent to the first scanning operation, the at least one directory for a second file matching signature data comprised by the file discovery data using a path to the first file as the first directory.

Abstract: An image processing apparatus capable of easily setting files permitted to be stored and also enables editing of the files which are stored. A HDD is capable of storing files. A document management section manages basic extensions each indicative of a type of a file permitted to be stored in the HDD and associated extensions each indicative of a type of a file associated with a file permitted to be stored in the HDD, in association with each other. The document management section permits a file associated with a file of which a type is indicated by a basic type information item managed by the management unit and which is open to be stored in the HDD.

Abstract: Techniques for moving data files without interrupting access are described. A first process moves a database file from a first location to a second location while the database file is accessible to one or more other processes for read or write operations. According to one technique, the first process communicates a move status and a copy range into the database file to one or more database server instances executing the one or more other processes. The one or more other processes then perform input/output (IO) operations on the database file based at least in part on the move status and the copy range communicated by the first process.

Abstract: A management operations data tracking system and method are disclosed. The management operations data tracking system has one or more processors and a non-transitory computer readable medium storing computer executable instructions. The computer executable instructions cause the one or more processor to receive equipment operations parameter data indicative of an operating status of one or more equipment. The equipment operations parameter data is translated relative to a threshold level. A log is created for the one or more equipment and within the log one or more log entry is created indicative of the operation at sequential instants of time of the one or more equipment. The translated equipment operations parameter data is segmented and stored within the one or more log entry for the one or more equipment. The translated and segmented data is then transmitted and synchronized with a central hub. The equipment can be wellsite equipment.

Abstract: A method is proposed. The method includes receiving a file operation request from a process and performing a census of instances of a file applicable to the file operation request to populate a data structure. The data structure including a listing of the instances of the file applicable to the file operation request. The data structure also includes characteristics for a first instance from among the instances of the file applicable to the file operation request, and characteristics for a second instance of a selected file from among the instances of the file applicable to the file operation request. The method also includes eliminating the first instance from among the instances of the file applicable to the file operation request on the basis of a rule associated with properties from a record for the process, and the characteristics for the first instance.

Abstract: A block storage service provides block-level storage to a plurality of distinct computing instances for a plurality of distinct users. For each of one or more of the plurality of distinct computing instances, information about data being stored in the block storage service is determined. Based on the information about the data being stored in the block storage service, a block storage transaction enhancement for the data being stored in the block storage service is determined. The block storage service performs the selected block storage transaction enhancement with respect to the data being stored in the block storage service.

Abstract: Approaches for managing a library of digital images and information about any editing operations performed on those digital images are provided. A managed library of digital images and a referenced library of digital images may be maintained. Digital images may be moved from the managed library of digital images to the referenced library of digital images, and vice-versa. A preview digital image data may also be generated from master digital image data. Rather than performing image operations directly on the master digital image data, change data that identifies one or more operations to perform to a digital picture represented by either the preview digital image data or the master digital image data may be stored, thereby allowing operations to be performed on the preview digital image data when the master digital image data is not accessible. Digital image may be automatically renamed based on rules for doing so.
