Abstract: Various methods and systems for securing access to hash-based storage systems are disclosed. One method involves receiving information to be stored in a storage system from a storage system client and then generating a key. The key identifies the information to be stored. The value of the key is dependent upon a secret value, which is associated with the storage system. The key is generated, at least in part, by applying a hash algorithm to the information to be stored. The key can then be returned the key to the storage system client. The storage system client can then use the key to retrieve the stored information.

Abstract: Disaggregated resources distributed among resource nodes provide access to resource consumers by offering resource node information to the resource consumers. Resource node information supplied by each individual resource node comprises incomplete information with respect to the complete disaggregated resource. Resource consumers collect resource node information to create maps of the disaggregated resource, ensure coherency, or manage the disaggregated resource.

Abstract: Various embodiments of a system and method for creating a unification directory to unify a group of directories are described herein. The system may enable a first directory to be unified with one or more other directories such that when directory operations are performed on the first directory, it appears to them that the first directory includes not only its own files, but also the files of the one or more other directories. This may be accomplished by creating a persistent, re-useable unification directory which includes directory entries corresponding to the names of the files in the first directory and the one or more other directories. The unification directory does not contain complete copies of the files. Instead, the unification directory is used to obtain a listing of the files when needed, and the system then re-directs file operations to the real files in the individual directories as necessary.

Abstract: A virtual record manager and a data exchange engine are provided for dynamically defining data records in a database and for dynamically allocating instances of defined data records. These components are capable of mediating between the database and application and client interface layers to facilitate exchange of information over a network. Embodiments are configured to allow complex data records having a plurality of related fields, and to allow management and exchange of information at both the data field level and data record level.

Abstract: When a list of file names is to be displayed on a display device, a comparison is made between a necessary display width of each of the file names and a width of a display area of the display device. For each of the file names having a necessary display width greater than the width of the display area, it is checked whether the file name contains a particular character string portion of a predetermined type, and, if so, the file name is displayed in the list in a partly-omitted display style where a leading end portion, particular character string portion and extension of the file name are left in the list with the other part of the character string omitted. The particular character string portion can function as an important element for identifying the data item in question.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and products for delayed deletion of extended attributes associated with a file in a file system are provided. Embodiments include identifying a file to delete, moving an extended attribute directory associated with the file to a background deletion directory, deleting the file, and deleting in the background the extended attribute directory. The technique includes providing, on a computerized device, a unified content database from a set of content databases including a first content database of a first application and a second content database of a second application. Abstract: A computer implemented method and system manages digital media files in a non-linear video editing system. A user may store digital media files in a user directory. If an instruction is received to move a first digital media file from the user directory to a shared directory having a location that is not directly accessible to the user, such move occurs, thereby preventing direct access by the user to the first digital media file. A link is generated in the user directory to the first digital media file, the link providing the user indirect access to the first digital media file located in the shared directory. If the link to the first digital media file is deleted from the user directory, the first digital media file is not deleted from the shared directory until the system subsequently receives an additional instruction to delete files corresponding with previously deleted links.

Abstract: Preparing source data to be replicated in a continuous data replication environment. Certain systems and methods populate a file name database with entries having a unique file identifier descriptor (FID), short name and a FID of the parent directory of each directory or file on a source storage device. Such information is advantageously gathered during scanning of a live file system without requiring a snapshot of the source storage device. The database can be further used to generate absolute file names associated with data operations to be replayed on a destination storage device. Based on the obtained FIDs, certain embodiments can further combine write operations to be replayed on the destination storage device and/or avoid replicating temporary files to the destination system.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for a dynamic information connection engine. User actions are detected on at least one client system. In response, a determination is made whether the user is searching for supported information. When the user is searching for supported information, information is extracted electronically from third party web sites, direct supplier connections, and intermediate databases. Potential information suppliers are automatically selected in response to the detected user search. Queries are formulated from the user search and transferred to each selected supplier over a network coupling. The queries include a request for information. Responses are received from the suppliers, and the responses are used to generate a result list for the user. The result list includes information and query status information. Further, an electronic link may be provided to a web site of each supplier from which the information was derived.

The tape-specific layout may be based on forensic data acquired for the de-duplication data set. The apparatus may also include a write logic configured to write the de-duplication data set to a tape according to the tape-specific layout. The forensic data may identify, for example, the order in which sub-blocks are accessed, reference counts, access frequency, access groups, and other access information.

The data consumer receives the life log data from the data provider, and compares the life log data and reference data received from a service server to determine whether a difference between the life log data and the reference data exceeds a predetermined threshold value. The mapper maps the service server which provides the reference data corresponding to information of the life log data received from the data provider. In one aspect, a method includes receiving a request for a device to store a URI, and providing a default storage location for storing the URI. The default storage location is selected based on the type of the device from among a plurality of default storage locations for storing URIs, each of the default storage locations being specific to a different type of device. Two or more associated devices of different types can access the other's default storage location. The default storage location for the corresponding device accessing its own storage location will be displayed as the primary storage location, and the default storage location for a non-corresponding device will be displayed as a secondary storage location. Systems, graphical user interfaces, and machine-readable media are also provided.

Abstract: A method of executing a transaction in a distributed storage system includes, for data chunks of a read set of the transaction, reading data of the data chunks of the read set through remote direct memory access and determining a validity of the read data by evaluating a version and a lock of each data chunk of the read set. For data chunks of a write set of the transaction, the method includes setting locks on the data chunks of the write set, writing data to the locked data chunks through remote direct memory access, releasing the locks of the locked data chunks, and incrementing a version number of each released data chunk.
