Abstract: A system and method are provided for summarizing multiple aspects of tags associated with media events. In the system and method, tag metadata for tags generated at one or more user interfaces associated with at least one media event is obtained. Thereafter, tags are organized into a hierarchy of tags based on the metadata and a metadata sorting criteria. Additionally, tag significance data for tags is computed based on the metadata and the hierarchy. A visual representation of the tags can then be generated, where indicia for the tags is spatially arranged to visually depict the hierarchy of the tags are selected to visually depict at least a relative significance among sibling tags in the hierarchy.

Abstract: Directories in a file system are defined with a dummy cluster in a file allocation table as the initial entry. Subsequent clusters in a directory's definition may define any data for the directory that can be changed in a transaction-safe mode. A directory may be modified in a transaction-safe mode by modifying any of the subsequent clusters while tracking changes in a second file allocation table. When the changes have been made to the directory, a pointer to the second file allocation table may be switched to indicate that the second file allocation table is now last known good. The first file allocation table may then be synchronized with the second.

Abstract: A network storage server implements a method to perform fast crawling of a hierarchical storage structure. The hierarchical storage structure contains data entities stored by a network storage server. The hierarchical storage structure can be recursively divided into a plurality of sections. A plurality of parallel-processing threads can be used to process the plurality of sections. Each thread selects and processes one of the plurality of sections at a time to generate a sorted list of metadata corresponding to the section of the hierarchical storage structure. The sorted lists generated by the plurality of threads are merged to a baseline list. The baseline list contains sorted metadata for entities managed by the hierarchical storage structure. The baseline list can then be outputted as a representation of the state of data stored by the network storage server.

  • Patent number: 7945542
Abstract: A solution may be provided in which a cache may assign a version to each object that it caches. The version may be saved in a database along with the object. Each time the business logic accesses the cache for a dependent object, such as a read from the bit mask field of the new parent member, the version of the object checked in the cache and its identification may be saved on a dependency list. Once changes to the object are performed, the business logic may issue a commit command. The cache may then verify that the version of each object on the dependency list matches the version that is in the database. If an object on the dependency list either does not exist in the database, or exists with another version, then the transaction may be canceled.

  • Patent number: 7941410
Abstract: Generally, the described system and process enables resolution of conflicts in a synchronized folder. Within the described mesh operating environment, each of the devices may be configured to do the same processing so that the file system view of the synchronized folder looks the same on all devices (pending local capabilities). Updates that cannot be immediately realized to the local store due to conflicts may be deferred for later attempts when, for example, additional updates at the system level or local level are made to resolve or eliminate the conflict for the update item. Generally, further changes may be propagated by a user in addressing a particular conflict that the user is notified about (e.g., via a selected winner that the user disagrees with). Alternatively, the conflict may resolve itself when a further update occurs that overrides or renders moot the previous update (e.g., a deleted item having a modified enclosure, where the enclosure had a previous concurrency conflict).

  • Patent number: 7937307
Abstract: A system and method for performing Electronic Check Presentment (ECP) processing. The system and method employ digital imaging techniques to digitally image the physical checks as they arrive subsequent to posting of the ECP items. The images are electronically linked to the data records that represent the checks. During the proofing process, in which the data records for the ECP items are validated against the data records for the physical items, the records are updated such that the posting date and ISN number for the data records for the physical items reflect the posting date and ISN number of the ECP items. As the digital image of the check is electronically linked to the data records, the image is thus carries the posting date and ISN of the ECP item.

Abstract: A data classification system is provided. The data classification system includes a fetch unit, a classification tree module, and a data repository. The fetch unit is adapted for receiving data including at least one datum, and fetching a data information contained in the data. The classification tree module is adapted for classifying the data in a manner of a tree structure according to the data info illation, and building a classification tree thereby. The data repository is adapted for storing the classification tree and the data.

Abstract: The information retrieval devices of the present invention are composed of two dual hierarchical structures, the first structure containing the premises and the second the consequences/prescriptions arising from the premises. According to a variant embodiment, the information is represented by a collection of nested folded sheets not bound to one another. Advantage: reduction of the space or of the paper required for storing the information and reduction of the processing time.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method, system, and computer program product for processing special attributes within a file are provided. The method includes accessing the file with a hierarchical tree structure of file elements, and retrieving special attributes associated with the file elements. The special attributes are selectively assigned to the file elements. The method also includes interpreting the special attributes using hierarchical inheritance to pass the special attributes from subordinate file elements to higher-level file elements. The method further includes creating a file-level representation of the interpreted special attributes.

  • Patent number: 7899851
Abstract: A database management system has a plurality of database servers and data can be transferred between them by partitioning a data area into small areas and altering allocation of the small areas to the database servers. After altering the configuration, there occurs degradation in processing speed that accompanies re-creation of the index. If this problem is solved by using conventional techniques, noticeable degradation in processing speed will occur to a specific query at the time of a steady state operation. Accordingly, an index created for each of the small areas and an index to all of the small areas are allocated to the database server and used in combination.

  • Patent number: 7886291
Abstract: The inventions relate generally to layered computing systems that provide public access to the content of the layers. Also disclosed herein are prioritization schemes usable in a layered computing system, including prioritization by layer type, by assigned priority weights, by access type, by sub-layers and by read-write indicators. Processes may further be associated to layers from which they originate, and priority given to associated layers thereby. Association may also be provided for installer services, thereby depositing an applications updates into its layer. Layers may also contain file reference information including exclusion or inclusion entries indicating what files may be written thereto. Paths recorded in layers may also embed variables to true paths on a layered system. Detailed information on various example embodiments of the inventions are provided in the Detailed Description below, and the inventions are defined by the appended claims.
