Abstract: A database appliance in which two or more internetworked data storage units are used to coordinate the storage and retrieval of database records. One or more central database processing units are also associated with the data storage units. A network infrastructure provides the ability for the central database processors and storage processors to communicate as network nodes, with the network infrastructure using a communication protocol. A software application for executing database operations executes in a distributed fashion with portions of the database application executing on at least one central database processor and other portions executing on the data storage processors. At least a portion of the database application is implemented within and/or coordinated by a communication process that is executing the communication protocol.

Abstract: Roughly described, a network interface device is assigned a maximum extent-of-search. A hash function is applied to the header information of each incoming packet, to generate a hash code for the packet. The hash code designates a particular subset of the table within which the particular header information should be found, and an iterative search is made within that subset. If the search locates a matching entry before the search limit is exceeded, then the incoming data packet is delivered to the receive queue identified in the matching entry. But if the search reaches the search limit before a matching entry is located, then device delivers the packet to a default queue, such as a kernel queue, in the host computer system. The kernel is then responsible for delivering the packet to the correct endpoint.

Abstract: A method, a computer program product and a system are provided for archiving emails, where the email system includes at least one user mailbox configured to receive and store emails within the user mailbox and send emails from the user mailbox. User-specific metadata corresponding with emails received and sent by each user mailbox is collected. The collected user-specific metadata is analyzed to provide a predictive indication when and which emails will be archived for each user mailbox, and emails are archived for user mailboxes based upon the predictive indication for each user mailbox.

A medical device in data communication with the configuration device registers itself with the configuration device and downloads a particular product update from the configuration device, such that the configuration device creates a record of the particular product update and communications the record of the particular product update to the update interface.

Thus, subsequent reference to the associated full name and its item of interest may be identified simply by using the Shortcode instead of the full name. For example, a user of an electronic device may observe the full name with the ISC in a visual display, and sequentially enter the characters of the Shortcode from the ISC into the electronic device to obtain additional information regarding the item of interest.

Abstract: A method and system can be used to read and obtain data from messaging files regardless of the messaging environment used to generate the messaging files. The method and system can read part of a messaging file to identify the type of entry (e.g., email message, calendar item, address book entry, etc.) and access information on where information within the entry is located within the messaging file based on an identifying signature. The method and system can be used to obtain data from messaging files without having to recreate the messaging environment, including individual email accounts. The data can be stored in a target storage medium in a format that is more usable and more easily searched.

A packet processing circuit of a communication control apparatus includes a user database, a virus list, a whitelist, a blacklist and a common category list. Upon acquisition of a request for access to a content, matching between information on a user who has sent the access request and the user database is performed by a search circuit, so as to authenticate the user. When the user is authenticated, the search circuit performs matching between the URL of the content to be accessed and the virus list, whitelist, blacklist and common category list.
