Abstract: A cloud computing system for use in remote cooking can receive a first input from a computing system indicating that an electronically-controlled appliance is permitted to communicate with a cloud computing platform. The computer system generates a notification that is to be sent to a software application, where the software application is configured to control functions of the electronically-controlled appliance. The computer system transmits the generated notification to the software application, where the generated notification indicates that the cloud computing platform is communicably connected to the electronically-controlled appliance. The computer system then receives a second input from the software application indicating that specified functions are to be performed on the electronically-controlled appliance, and transmits instructions to the electronically-controlled appliance to perform the specified functions.

Abstract: Provided are application registration methods and apparatuses. In a registration method, a Common Services Entity in an Infrastructure Node (IN-CSE) receives a first registration request from an Application Entity (AE) of a Machine-to-Machine/Man Service Provider (M2M SP), wherein the first registration request carries a binding relationship between an identifier of a CSE in a User Equipment (UE) and an M2M External Identifier (M2M-Ext-ID) of the UE; the IN-CSE sends a second registration request to an underlying Network Services Entity (NSE); and the IN-CSE receives a first registration response from the NSE, wherein the first registration response is a response message corresponding to the second registration request.

Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for maintaining state synchronization of an application between computing devices and maintaining state synchronization of common information between different applications. A server receives a request from a client device to access a shared state scope. A shared state scope is a data store that physically resides on the server, where the data store stores state information. The state information stored in these scopes can be shared among multiple instances of an application residing on multiple client devices. Furthermore, the state information may include common information that is shared among different applications. Upon the server providing access to the requested scope, the server receives an update to the state information stored within the requested scope from the requesting client device. The server then notifies other client devices regarding the update to the state information that have access to the shared state scope.

Abstract: Systems and methods associated with distributing an application's network interface over nodes of a networking fabric are presented. Nodes of the fabric can operate as interface modules, each taking on a role or responsibility for a portion of the application's network address including IP address, port assignments, or other portions of the network address. Interface modules of the networking nodes can then spoof or cloak the application to provide security against internal or external threats.

Abstract: A protocol such as OpenFlow providing communication between an SDN framework controller on one network and a data plane device for another network can be used to modify or process network packets so that an external application or server can communicate with the controller and obtain information needed to uniquely associate the packets with particular end-stations even after those packets have traversed a NAT router.

Abstract: A method begins by a device of an affiliated group of devices establishing a desired change to shared group information and requesting a current version of the shared group information from devices in the affiliated group of devices. The method continues with the device interpreting the current version of the shared group information to determine whether the desired change to the shared group information is permissible. When the desired change to the shared group information is permissible, the method continues with the device sending to devices, a request to update the shared group information to include the desired change. Upon receipt of successfully updating the shared group information from the devices, the method continues with the device performing an operation corresponding to the desired change.

Abstract: An RDMA-capable network interface controller provides an RDMA access to a physical memory using multiple mapping tables; the physical memory includes a plurality of physical memory regions, at least some of which are associated with a virtual memory region. A mapping unit is configured to map memory region identifiers, each of which is adapted to identify a virtual memory region and an associated physical memory region, to virtual memory regions and to the associated physical memory regions based on a mapping table selected from multiple mapping tables based on a network identifier. Each of the mapping tables is indexed using a plurality of memory region identifiers, each associated with a virtual memory region and a physical memory region. A processing unit is configured to receive an access request from a client for accessing one of the physical memory regions associated with a virtual memory region.

Abstract: Systems and methods for triggering generation of an alert for delivery to a remote device are disclosed herein. The system can include memory having: a user profile database; and a content library database. The system can include a recipient user device and a supervisor device. The system can include a content management server that can: receive an electrical signal from the recipient user device, which electrical signal includes a request for initiation of a delivery sequence; trigger an incrementing timer based on receipt of the electrical signal; sequentially deliver the set of delivery data packets; automatically send a proposed time for communicatively coupling the recipient user and supervisor devices; and generate and send an alert.

Abstract: A method is provided for incorporating a communication device in a network including a set of configuration servers having at least one configuration server, and a set of productive servers having at least one productive server. The method includes (a) establishing a connection between the communication device and the network, which connection is restricted solely to a stipulated selection from the set of configuration servers; (b) obtaining configuration data from the stipulated selection of configuration servers, which stipulate access rights of the communication device to a selection from the set of productive servers; and (c) configuring the communication device using the obtained configuration data such that access by the communication device is restricted to the selection from the set of productive servers.

Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods for migrating execution contexts are disclosed. A system includes a plurality of processing units and memory devices. The system is configured to execute any number of software applications. The system is configured to detect, within a first software application, a primitive for migrating at least a portion of the execution context of a source processing unit to a target processing unit, wherein the primitive includes one or more instructions. The execution context includes a plurality of registers. A first processing unit is configured to execute the one or more instructions of the primitive to cause a portion of an execution context of the first processing unit to be migrated to a second processing unit. In one embodiment, executing the primitive instruction(s) causes an instruction pointer value, with an optional offset value, to be sent to the second processing unit.

Abstract: A motherboard is to be disposed in a local server, and includes a platform controller hub (PCH) that transmits a command associated with read access to image file data, and a baseboard management controller that includes a memory unit and a processor unit which is electrically connected between the memory unit and the PCH. The memory unit stores an image file data associated with boot-up data of the local server. The processor unit receives the command from the PCH, and interprets the command so as to retrieve the image file data stored in the memory unit. The processor unit performs format conversion upon the image file data so as to generate a packet which conforms to protocols of the PCH, and transmits the packet to the PCH.

Abstract: There are provided a system, a method and a computer program product for managing one or more network devices. The one or more network devices are connected indirectly or directly to one or more networks and communicate each other by exchanging one or more messages. A classifier intercepts the one or more messages associated with one or more network devices. The classifier classifies each of the intercepted messages into a layer. A discovery system receives the each classified message and detecting, based on the each received classified message, a new network device added to the one or more networks and detecting one or more configuration changes made on the one or more network devices.

Abstract: A system, method and computer program product are provided for receiving information associated with a message, issuing a storage resource request in connection with a storage resource and determining whether the storage resource is available. In use, the information is capable of being shared in less than one second, utilizing an automotive electronic control unit which includes a plurality of interfaces.

The storage apparatus includes a switching unit, a first storage control apparatus, and a second storage control apparatus. The first storage control apparatus includes a storage unit and a control unit. The storage unit stores path connection information. On detecting a restart condition of the second storage control apparatus, the control unit switches a second port from being connected at the switching unit to the second storage control apparatus on a second path to being connected to the first storage control apparatus on a third path, based on the path connection information, and then instructs the second storage control apparatus to restart.

Abstract: A system, method, and computer program product for automatically managing control configurations in an application graphical user interface (GUI). Interface element specifications may be configured via a customized overlay file corresponding to at least one party having influence over the application controlled by the GUI, such as an application vendor, a user group, and an individual user. The overlay file is created and saved via an interface manager GUI that allows new interface elements such as toolbars and toolbar buttons to be added, and existing interface elements to be modified, but does not allow existing default interface elements to be destructively edited, only hidden or visibly disabled. The overlay file is processed during program environment startup and when user actions trigger a separate application or feature window activation or reset a particular overlay file's modifications. Compatibility with vendor-supplied default interfaces and other overlay file based customizations is maintained.

Abstract: A method for establishing an alternate pathway to an endpoint that may determine that a network connection is lost between a first network element and an application server. The method may select a second network element from a virtual network operating on an optical network. The second network element may include a network connection over the optical network to the application server, and a network connection to the first network element over the virtual network. The method may designate the second network element to act as a network proxy to the first network element. The first network element may use the second network element as the network proxy for receiving data over the virtual network. The method may receive data from the application server at the first network element using the second network element as the network proxy.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for directing a workload between distributed computing environments. Performance and use data from each of a plurality of computer clusters is monitored on a periodic or continuous basis. The plurality of computers can include a first subset being in a first region and a second subset being in a second region. Each region has known performance characteristics, zone of performance and zone of reliability which is used in distributing a workload or job. A job is received at the system, wherein the system determines a routing for the job to a distributed computing environment, wherein the routing is in response to the obtained performance and use data, and the region encompassing the given computer cluster.

Abstract: Managing updates to executable programming code on a computer system in a computer network. A maintenance service utility is configured to launch a maintenance procedure at a specified time during operation of the computer system. Operation of a maintenance timer utility is activated during startup of the computer system to track and monitor the amount of time the computer system has been operating since startup. The maintenance service utility determines if there any updates to the executable programming code that require installation. The maintenance procedure is launched after a specified time if there are updates to the executable programming code. The computer system is automatically rebooted to install the updates to the executable programming code. A maintenance service editor utility enables the maintenance service utility to be configured to launch the maintenance procedure after a specified time if there are updates to the executable programming code.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method, computer-readable media, and wireless device that automatically determines whether an application requires a virtual input mechanism are provided. The wireless device includes a virtual machine and database. The virtual machine executes the application and parses code associated with the application to determine whether a virtual input mechanism is necessary. The database stores metadata that indicates whether the type of input needed for the application is touch or key.

Abstract: A system for on-demand cloning of virtual machines (VMs) includes a virtual server to host a number of VMs, the virtual server including at least one master VM. The system also includes a Web server to authenticate a user in response to a request for online access to a new VM on the virtual server. In addition, the system includes a cloning module, in communication with the Web server and the virtual server, to automatically clone the master VM to create a unique VM clone for the user on the virtual server responsive to the request.

Abstract: A system for providing low-latency computational capacity from a virtual compute fleet is provided. The system may be configured to maintain a plurality of virtual machine instances on one or more physical computing devices, wherein the plurality of virtual machine instances comprises a first pool comprising a first sub-pool of virtual machine instances and a second sub-pool of virtual machine instances, and a second pool comprising virtual machine instances used for executing one or more program codes thereon. The first sub-pool and/or the second sub-pool may be associated with one or more users of the system. The system may be further configured to process code execution requests and execute program codes on the virtual machine instances of the first or second sub-pool.

Abstract: A method for executing a command line interface (CLI) command by receiving a hyper text transport protocol (HTTP) comprising the CLI command from a controller, extracting the CLI command from the HTTP request, and executing, by a network device, the CLI command to generate a populated model comprising results generated from executing the CLI command. The method also executes the CLI command by converting the populated model into a JSON format using a JSON engine to obtain a JSON result; encapsulating the JSON result in a JSON Remote Procedure Call (RPC), and transmitting the JSON RPC as a HTTP response to the controller.

Abstract: A method of remotely configuring a point-of-sale device that is configured with resident executable program code involves the resident executable program code transmitting a framework update request to a computer server. The resident executable program code imposes a security requirement prohibiting unauthorized change of the resident executable program code. The resident executable program code also defines an operational framework of at least one allowed mode of operation for the point-of-sale device. The framework update request includes a credential. In accordance with a validity of the credential, the point-of-sale device receives a framework update payload in response to the framework update request, and installs the framework update payload into the point-of-sale device. The resident executable program code together with the framework update payload define an updated version of the operational framework. The updated version of the operational framework maintains the imposed security requirement.

Abstract: A physical security system that includes multiple server nodes may be upgraded by receiving an upgrade installation package from a client and propagating the installation package between at least two of the server nodes. One of the server nodes (“source server”) receives the installation package from the client and another of the server nodes (“requesting server”) requests and receives the installation package from the source server. To transfer the installation package from the source to the requesting server, the source server notifies the requesting server that the installation package is present at the source server, the requesting server then sends the source server a request for the installation package, and the source server then sends the installation package to the requesting server in response to the request. The requesting server may then be upgraded by running the installation package.

Abstract: Systems and methods relating to improved security in cloud computing environments are disclosed. According to one illustrative implementation, a method for provisioning physical geographic location of a physical infrastructure device associated with a hypervisor host is provided. Further, the method may include performing processing to obtain initial geo location data of the device, determining verified geo location data of the device by performing validation, via an attestation service component, of the initial geo location data to provide verified geo location data, and writing the verified geo location data into HSM or TPM space of the hypervisor host.

Abstract: An architecture for accessing data between different virtual disk formats. A virtual machine may be migrated or cloned from a first server that uses a first virtual disk format to a second server using a second virtual disk format. In response to an I/O request from the virtual machine, a real-time mapper compares the virtual disk format used by the virtual machine with the virtual disk format of the virtual disk that the request is directed to. If the formats are different, a set of mapping metadata is used to map between data of the different virtual disk formats. Due to the mapping being performed in real time, the virtual machine is able to operate upon the virtual disk without the need to perform a potentially costly format conversion of the virtual disk or the underlying data.

Abstract: In one embodiment, an apparatus includes a network management module configured to execute at a network device operatively coupled to a switch fabric. The network management module is configured to receive a first set of configuration information associated with a subset of network resources from a set of network resources, the set of network resources being included in a virtual local area network from a plurality of virtual local area networks, the plurality of virtual local area networks being defined within the switch fabric. The first set of configuration information dynamically includes at least a second set of configuration information associated with the set of network resources.

Abstract: Systems and methods described herein provide redundant functionality for multi-cloud high availability continuous service provisioning. Service rule configuration of regional internet services platforms at different geographical locations are provisioned through a multi-cloud provisioning platform. The systems and methods provide that there is no disruption of service provisioning, in the event of a failure of one cloud provisioning platform, as long as at least one other cloud provisioning platform is available. In the event of a cloud disaster outage at one cloud provisioning platform, a regional internet services platform will automatically register with another active cloud provisioning platform.

Abstract: A computing device and method is usable to determine a cognitive geofence according to a plurality of data points. The computing device may analyze the plurality of data points to determine a cognitive dimension associated with each of the data points and a location associated with each of the data points. The computing device may determine the cognitive geofence based at least in part on the determined cognitive dimension and the determined location associated with at least some of the plurality of data points. After determining the cognitive geofence, the computing device may transmit the determined cognitive geofence to a terminal device.

Abstract: Techniques for in-place updates of hypervisors are described herein. At a time after receiving an update hypervisor request, one or more controlling domains within a computing system invoke one or more system capabilities at least to pause execution of currently running client domains and non-essential CPUs. While the client domains and non-essential CPUs are paused, a new hypervisor in instantiated, state information is copied from the existing hypervisor to the new hypervisor. After the state and/or configuration copy is complete, control is switched form the existing hypervisor to the new hypervisor and client domains and non-essential CPUs are resumed.

Abstract: A method for implementing network security policies in a multi-tenant network environment may include receiving a request for implementation of at least one network security policy on one or more computing devices of a service provider cloud environment. The network security policy identified by the request may be retrieved. The network security policy may be encrypted using encrypting credentials of the one or more computing devices. Decrypting credentials corresponding to the encrypting credentials are stored in a Trusted Platform Module (TPM) within the one or more computing devices. The encrypted network security policy may be pushed to the one or more computing devices, for decryption and implementation at the one or more computing devices.

Abstract: A system and method that enables an application to retrieve application update from the software vendor using one or more network connection. The application checks for updates when it is invoked by the user. The checking of updates is done by sending a request to the vendor server via one or multiple network connections. The network connection can be wired or wireless. By using multiple network connections, the update process can send and receive update data faster than using one network connections. Another aspect of the invention is if the checking for update request failed via the default or 1st network connection, the application will check for the next available network connection to send the update request. By checking for update from the vendor, the application will always have the most up to date patches, fixes, and/or new features.

Abstract: Numerous alerts may be received by a management system, potentially making it difficult to determine which alerts indicate events that are potentially more harmful. To identify alerts that indicate harmful events, a damage index for each of the alerts may be determined. Determining an alert damage index facilitates the ranking, sorting, or graphical representation of alerts. The alert damage index can indicate the potential damage or harm an event associated with the alert may cause if left unaddressed. For example, a low memory event has the potential to cause an application or server to respond slowly or not at all. The alert damage index may be determined by processing metrics that indicate the potential harm or severity of the event. For example, the alert damage index may be determined by processing an alert duration factor, an alert threshold breach factor, and a component load factor (damage factors).

Abstract: The present disclosure describes systems and methods for managing and implementing an asset license reclamation program across a network. The status of an asset, such as computer software, is automatically determined and if the asset does not meet particular use criteria, the asset may be flagged for reclamation and/or redeployment, either within the same network segment or in a separate network segment.

Abstract: A settings service running on a server remote from a computing device can identify at least one settings group to which the computing device belongs. The settings service can identify all settings that are included in the at least one settings group to which the device belongs. The settings service can compare all the settings and detect any conflicting settings. If there are conflicting settings, the service can choose which of the conflicting settings takes priority, in order to resolve the conflict. For example, a default setting can be overridden by a setting with a higher priority. After resolving the conflict, the settings service can merge the conflicting setting(s) which takes priority, as well as the non-conflicting settings, into a single set of settings to be applied to the device. The settings service can transmit the set of settings to the computing device to be applied.

Each domain entity has a different priority level, and each rule defines an action to be performed be a device in response to a predetermined event. The network node prioritizes the rules based on the priority levels of their respective domain entities, checks for conflicts between the prioritized rules, and generates a policy based on the prioritized rules.

A determination is made regarding whether the currently-relevant updated actor-sets differ from actor-sets previously sent to the other MS.

Abstract: A mechanism for automatic installing and scaling of application resources in a multi-tenant Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) environment in a cloud computing system is disclosed. A method includes creating, by a processing device of an Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) platform, an image package corresponding to a node host on a multi-tenant Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) system. The image package comprises an image file including a script file having a plurality of software updates and run time configuration files. The image package is stored in a storage memory of the IaaS platform and is accessible by a virtual machine (VM) instance. The method also includes retrieving, from the storage memory, the script file from the image package and causing a boot process of the VM instance to download the script file into the PaaS system.

Abstract: The information processing system includes a first management device, a second management device coupled to the first management device, and a first information processing device coupled to the second management device, wherein the second management device receives, from the first information processing device, a notification indicating that an operation state of the first information processing device is changed from a first state to a second state, and the second management device transmits the notification to the first management device after a first time period is collapsed after receiving the notification, the first time period being defined based on the second state.

Abstract: A method in a first network device of performing a software update of a line card of a second network device without disruption to data traffic. The method includes causing a redundant control plane component of the second network device to be updated according to the software update. The method continues with causing the second network device to instantiate, based on the software update, a line card virtual machine (LC VM) as a redundant data plane component for the line card. The method further includes causing a third network device to forward data traffic to both the line card and the LC VM of the second network device, and causing the second network device to update the line card according to the software update while processing the received data traffic using the LC VM.

Abstract: A software application for recommending workforce resource allocation in a communication center based on requirements of events represented in a communication-center queue has a first interface for accessing information from the queue; a second interface for accessing information from a data source about workforce availability and state information; a processing component for processing queue information and workforce information; and a message generation and delivery component for generating a workforce allocation recommendation based on processing results and sending the recommendation to a target entity. In a preferred embodiment, the application periodically accesses the queue and the data source to obtain the most recent information for processing and generates periodic recommendations based on real-time requirements of events and availability states of resources, the recommendations sent ahead of time before the resources are required.
