Abstract: Systems and methods for automated determination of error handling. Data is received including one or more procedural operations to be tested. A first test is run on the data to capture one or more first tracebacks, where each traceback is associated with a procedural operation. A determination is made as to whether each captured first traceback is unique, where unique tracebacks are added to a unique traceback list. An error condition is simulated on each unique traceback on the unique traceback list by running a second test. The second test is run once for each unique traceback. One or more second tracebacks are captured during each run of the second test. When a unique traceback being tested matches a captured second traceback, an error code is returned and the second test may be run to completion. Errors encountered during each iteration of the second test running to completion are identified.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention are directed to validating a rules-based diagnostic system for a network. Emulated data for use by the rules-based diagnostic system can be generated that includes a trouble ticket to emulate a problem associated at least one of Layer 1 and Layer 2 network services and includes network information associated with the problem. Responses from the rules-based diagnostic system can be received in response to the emulated data being processed by the rules-based diagnostic system. A log generated by the rules-based diagnostic system can be analyzed to determine rules implemented by the rules-based diagnostic system in response to the emulated data, thereby validating operation of the rules-based diagnostic system.

Abstract: An internal tracing method for network attack detection is used to trace whole life cycle of an attack data packet for test in different phases such as an attacking phase, a defending phase, and an attacked phase through configuring and uniting three parties including an attack end point (AEP), a detect end point (DEP), and a target end point (TEP) and setting a corresponding internal check point in each part when testing a network intrusion detection system (IDS). In other words, when testing the network IDS, in a whole period that the attack data packet for test is attacking, filtered, detected, and finally transmitted to a target host, a tester may clearly know the statuses and information of the data packet in each important phase, thereby generating a test report conveniently, quickly, and accurately.

Abstract: The invention concerns a procedure and a device for emulating a programmable unit using an external emulation device. The method comprises transferring a signal to the external emulation device, which allows deriving the original CPU clock signal of the target programmable unit, and, in a defined relationship with the CPU clock signal (8), emulation data, which are formed by those data, which cannot be calculated on the basis of a given model of the target programmable unit and on the basis of the program code. The target programmable unit is emulated by the external emulation device (1) using the transferred emulation data, and respective trace data are ascertained from the emulation. The invention further concerns an apparatus for emulation, comprising a target programmable unit, which has at least one CPU, and comprising an emulation device, which, as an external unit (14), is connected via an emulation port as a communication link with the target programmable unit.

Abstract: A computer implemented method, system and computer program product for providing a waveform trace of a last plurality of cycles of a simulation prior to occurrence of an error in the simulation. A computer implemented method in a data processing system for providing a waveform trace for a last plurality of cycles of a simulation prior to occurrence of an error in the simulation includes storing history information relating to a last plurality of cycles of a simulation during running of the simulation. Responsive to an error occurring in the simulation, the simulation is stopped, and a waveform trace for the last plurality of cycles of the simulation is provided using the stored history information.
