Patent number: 10133793Abstract: An interactive tag cloud provides an intuitive interface to large data volumes. Where the data is a large table, an overview afforded by the tag cloud may contain relevant table information ranked by priority and volume, represented in different categories. The tag cloud may be used to filter that big data in an efficient manner. This allows an ordinary (i.e., non-developer) user of the database to quickly assess high level contours of the data volumes, and also to filter that data in order to focus on specific tasks. The interactive tag cloud visualization may indicate data priority according to frequency of incidence of a dimension in database records, or according to other criteria such as importance derived from date information. The tag cloud affords visibility to aggregated big data content and also of filtered data, prior to the user having to immediately drill down in order to access details thereof.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 2015Date of Patent: November 20, 2018Assignee: SAP SEInventors: Patricia Seemann, Mandana Samii, Martine Clemot

Patent number: 8330988Abstract: A scheduling application prints a portable pocket sized hardcopy of information items such as scheduled items and task lists, and prints the information onto the pocket sized hardcopy in a consistent manner on each visible side of the hardcopy by rotating and inverting the printed material in anticipation of subsequent folding. The consistent manner encompasses inverting and arranging portions of the hardcopy along fold lines to enable folding that results in an upright orientation to the displayed text and figures. Conventional scheduling mechanisms are typically unwieldy to quickly initiate and enter a single item or entry. Electronic mediums need to be powered on, a keystroke, stylus, or pointing device sequence applied to access the corresponding scheduling or notepad application, and the information entered. Conventional paper mediums tend to be bulky and thus typically in a briefcase or purse, and often have binders or covers as well as page tabbing systems that need to be navigated.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 2008Date of Patent: December 11, 2012Inventors: Faizan Nabi Buzdar, Sabika Nazim, Misbah Ullah

Patent number: 7395497Abstract: In a storage area network (SAN) management application, large data sets tend to produce unwieldy results upon display attempts. A mechanism for gathering and organizing a large data set into an ordered set of output display entries which does not require main memory storage for the entire large data set, generates a displayable portion without excessive memory consumption. Configurations employ a multiple pass gathering and organization operation. An output criteria specifies a key field and identifies a range of entries by specifying a particular screen for display from among the full range of screens. A parser retrieves and identifies the entries, during a first pass, using only the key field and an index for each of the entries in the large data set, to avoid loading all fields of each entry in entirety. A second pass fetches entries only for the identified entries corresponding to the output criteria.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 2003Date of Patent: July 1, 2008Assignee: EMC CorporationInventors: Christopher A.
