Abstract: Methods and systems for managing messaging are described. In an illustrative embodiment, widget code is transmitted from a server to a user terminal, wherein the widget code, when executed is configured to display a playlist. A message management system receives from the widget a user request to transmit at least one selected video from the video playlist to a recipient and user text to be transmitted to the recipient in conjunction with the selected video. The transmission of the video message and the user text to the recipient is initiated.

The input causes the first indication to be displayed in the first portion of the display; and in response to the input, the annotation is automatically displayed in a second portion of the display at the second client.

Abstract: A system and method directed to inline property editing for tree view based editors is provided. A user selects a desired node within a tree view and then hovers the mouse cursor over the node causing a smart tag anchor to appear. When the user clicks on the smart tag anchor an object property panel appears injected into the tree showing property and attributes for the selected node. The panel appears in direct visual proximity to the node, such as directly below the node while the node appears in its location within the tree. The tree is expanded such that the property panel does not visually obscure any part of the tree. Multiple panels may be opened simultaneously such that property and attribute information may be visually compared for various nodes.
Abstract: A displayed document comprises an annotation widget, the widget associated with an annotation document and a corresponding annotation key in an annotation store. The annotation document associated with a workflow action program. A user with a predetermined privilege selects a widget and is presented with the annotation document. The user performs an annotation task modifying the annotation document and submits the annotation document to the annotation store, the submission triggering the workflow action program to progress the workflow to another step.

Abstract: Methods for recognizing strings, labeling the strings with a semantic category and providing e-commerce actions based on the category is disclosed. The semantic category may include a type label and other metadata. Recognizer plug-ins perform the recognition of particular strings in an electronic document. The recognizer plug-ins may be packaged with an application program module or they may be written by third parties to recognize particular strings that are of interest. Action plug-ins provide possible actions to be presented to the user based upon the type label associated with the string. Tradenames, trademarks, formal names or types of consumer products may be labeled and actions to buy the products may be presented. The metadata may be used to implement coupon and affiliate programs to reward frequent shoppers or frequent recommenders. Numerous other e-commerce opportunities are presented via the semantic category and the metadata.
Abstract: Techniques for annotating an electronic document in an electronic document application are described. A request to add an annotation to an electronic document application is received. An annotation template for the requested annotation is retrieved. The annotation template is external to the electronic document application and the electronic document and includes fixed content, associated instructions defining variable content, and layout information for the fixed and variable content. The associated instructions are executed to define the variable content for an instance of the requested annotation. The instance of the annotation is applied to the electronic document. The annotation instance has an appearance defined by the variable content, the fixed content and the layout information.
Abstract: A method and system for capturing and managing electronic notes in a computer based application is presented. Electronic notes are captured in a note object and the context of the captured note is associated to the note object. Note objects are stored in a notes database for later retrieval. The notes can be queried, filtered, and sorted to obtain useful information from the notes.

Abstract: A device for capturing commentary, rationale, and other explanatory information pertaining to a document in parallel with the authoring of the document itself. The document content is entered through a primary input device (100), typically but not restricted to keyboard and mouse, and the commentary is entered through a secondary input device (200) of a different medium, such as speech captured by a microphone. The comments are linked to the corresponding locations in the main document by a memory controller (300), which stores the linked structure in the computer memory (400) and sends it to an output device (500), typically but not restricted to a computer monitor display, for presentation of the annotated document to the operator.
Abstract: An apparatus, program product and method provide a collaborative annotation environment that permits viewers of electronic content to share their personal annotations with other viewers of the electronic content only after the personal annotations have been reviewed by a party other than the original authors of such annotations. In addition, a default ordering may be generated for a plurality of annotations based upon the manner in which viewers of the annotations reorder the annotations. Furthermore, annotations that are submitted for review by multiple viewers may be scheduled for review according to the relative ratings of those viewers based upon prior submissions of those viewers.
