Abstract: A document management apparatus performs a first process to delete an object that is not to be presented to a user from document information registered in a database. The document management apparatus then performs a second process to determine whether a vacant block created as a result of the deleting of the object can be filled with another object. If it is determined by a CPU of the document management apparatus that a proper object to be put in the vacant block is not found, a third process is performed to adjust a layout associated with the vacant block. The document management apparatus then performs a forth process to provide a preview of a document with an adjusted layout thereby allowing a user to confirm the adjustment.

Abstract: A method of browsing web information using a mobile handheld device is disclosed. Capture rules are pre-established in a web page capture server. When a mobile handheld device is linked to the web page capture server, the mobile handheld device is allowed to assign one of the capture rules. The web page capture server looks up a target web page on the Internet according to the specified capture rule. Target information is extracted from the target web page and directly displayed on the mobile handheld device.

Abstract: In a method and a system for retrieving images in a client-server system, images are stored as a set of independently decodable units (CU's) on the server. A client issues a series of requests for image information. Each request contain a request number, information on what image information the client wants to see next and information on what image information the client had received at the time when the request was issued. The server does not have to store any state information (e.g. previous requests). On receiving a request, the server sends a restart marker, a confirmation of the request number and incremental image information corresponding to the request. The use of the method and the system as described herein will result in that no decoding of the whole bit stream will be required in the server. This will save a lot of time at the sender side (server side), since it not needs to a full decoding of the stream.

Abstract: The present embodiments provide methods, apparatuses, and systems for use in maintaining data quality upon conversion to a different data format. Some embodiments provide methods that receive media data in a first format, initiate a first conversion of the media data at the first format to a second converted format, identify parameters dictating the conversion to the second converted format, record the parameters, and distribute the recorded parameters to remote systems such that the parameters at least in part control the remote systems during a conversion of the media data to the second converted format.

Abstract: A computer implemented system and method for providing importation of a source text file into a spreadsheet file. A file format profile manager dynamically links a file format profile to the source text file, such that the formatting process performed after the importation operation is dynamically tailored to the source text file. A file format profile editor allows a user to formally describe the formatting actions to be performed for a given file format profile. A spreadsheet file user profile maintains location links between the imported source text files and their location within the spreadsheet file.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for creating document schema. The disclosed systems and methods may include receiving schema corresponding to meta-data associated with a document, storing the schema in the document, and storing the meta-data in the document. Furthermore, the disclosed systems and methods may include storing the schema at a first location. The schema stored at the first location may be changeable independent of the schema stored in the document. In addition, the disclosed systems and methods may include creating a first hash of the schema stored in the document and storing the first hash in the document. Moreover, the disclosed systems and methods may include determining that the schema stored at the first location has changed if a second hash of the schema stored at the first location is different from the first hash of the schema stored in the document.

Abstract: A software module at an e-mail gateway server scans incoming e-mail messages suspected of being phishing messages and inserts a script program into the head or body of the message in HTML form. The message is converted into an HTML document if necessary. The script program is written in a language such as VBScript, JScript, ECMAScript or JavaScript and can be run in a browser. The modified message is delivered to the recipient. When the e-mail client software on the user's desktop encounters the HTML content a browser starts up and the script program is executed by the browser. The script program can then take any action necessary to counter any hostile content of the message such as providing a warning message, comparing hyperlinks, intercepting a redirect request, warning about suspect attachments, etc.

Abstract: A data display system capable of reducing amount of data necessary for display and reducing the number of files to be prepared beforehand has the following configuration. In a server, language data files as a plurality of XML files corresponding to a plurality of languages respectively, an XML file defining file names of the language files as data, and an XSLT file for switching the file used for display among the plurality of language data files by using the XML file defining the file names are stored, and only the necessary language data file is downloaded to a browser and displayed.

Abstract: A system and method for inserting content is described. A user may designate content to be inserted into a document and have the content inserted into the document at either a designed location or, by determining the content associated with a receiving page, the system may select a location on the receiving page. The user may further choose various options including shrinking the new content to fit the page and/or may choose to have the existing content shifted to make room for the new content.

Abstract: An exemplary method for displaying formatting of objects, the method comprising, receiving an input, wherein the input is a selected range of objects, determining formatting attributes of the selected range of objects, determining an amount of objects having each of the formatting attributes in the selected range of objects, displaying each of the determined formatting attributes, designating each of the determined formatting attributes displayed with a unique non-textual indicator, marking the objects in the selected range of objects with the unique non-textual indicator corresponding to the determined formatting attributes of the objects in the selected range of objects, and marking the objects in the selected range of objects with a second type of indicator to indicate the determined amount of objects having each of the formatting attributes in the selected range of objects relative to a total amount of objects in the selected range of objects.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for identifying text information and making such information available for applications. The system includes an electronic device communicating text information and an application for performing a function. The system also includes memory storing known text formats and a processor for processing the text information. The processor compares the text information to the known text formats and determines a text format of the text information. The processor also tags the text information according to the determined text format and further makes the tagged text information available to one or more applications.

Abstract: A method for identifying, classifying, extracting and resolving hidden entities from a data file includes searching for an executing copy of an application associated with the data file, initiating the application in a background if the application is not running, opening the data file for reading only, examining the data file for hidden entities, generating an examination log of incidents of hidden entities, and optionally, resolving the incidents of hidden entities.

Abstract: In transmitting/receiving an E-mail with a file attached to it, the contents of the attached file is to be displayed in a reception terminal irrespective of the file format of a file attached to the E-mail, the image size or the maximum number of colors in displaying the file contents. To this end, the accommodating capability in a reception terminal is verified based on a mail address in sending an E-mail with an attached file to a reception terminal. If the accommodating capability in the reception terminal is not matched to the attached file, the file is converted in keeping with the accommodating capability of the reception terminal, and the E-mail is sent with the so-converted file attached to it.

Abstract: An object of this invention is to provide a data structure description method and processing method, which can present the contents of data to the user in every devices as much as possible. A data processing method of this invention has a parsing step of parsing a structured document having second data which is included in first data described in a first markup language, is described in a second markup language, and is required to present contents corresponding to the first data, and a processing step of executing, if it is determined in a determination step that a part described in the first markup language of the parsed structured document cannot be understood, a process of data on the basis of a part described in the second markup language.
