  • Patent number: 10503919
Abstract: An intended signatory receives an electronic signature request that includes instructions for accessing both an unsigned document and server functionality that enables the intended signatory to electronically sign the document. To gain such access, the intended signatory must pass username and password authentication, which serves as a first authentication factor. After the intended signatory is authenticated, he/she can access the unsigned document. However, once the intended signatory is initially authenticated, it can be assumed that his/her work session is subject to being misappropriated by an unauthorized user. Thus, when a command to apply an electronic signature to the document is invoked, the would-be signatory must pass keystroke biometrics authentication, which serves as a second authentication factor.

Abstract: A text line segmentation method for a document image containing printed text and handwriting, or document image containing skewed lines or printed text. Connected component (CC) are obtained for the document, and their bounding boxes and centroids are calculated. The CCs are categorized into three categories based on bounding box sizes: small objects, regular text objects, and large objects involving handwriting. The centroids of regular text objects are used in a cluster analysis to find the vertical centers of the N text lines. Then, each CC is classified into one of the N lines based on the vertical distance between its centroid and the vertical centers of text lines, and copied into to a corresponding object board. Extra spaces are removed from the object boards to obtain the line segments. The large object involving handwriting will be classified into one of the lines but absent from other lines.

  • Patent number: 8874427
Abstract: Methods, systems and program product are disclosed for determining matching level of a text lookup segment with a plurality of source texts in a translation memory in terms of context. The invention determines exact matches for the lookup segment in the plurality of source texts, and determines, in the case that at least one exact match is determined, that a respective exact match is an in-context exact match for the lookup segment in the case that a context of the lookup segment matches that of the respective exact match. Degree of context matching required can be predetermined, and results prioritized. The invention also includes methods, systems and program products for storing a translation pair of source text and target text in a translation memory including context, and the translation memory so formed. The invention ensures that content is translated the same as previously translated content and reduces translator intervention.

Abstract: A stroke processing system (SPS) is described which processes a user's current instance of handwriting with reference to previous instances of handwriting. In one application, the SPS matches a new token input by a user (corresponding to a sequence of stroke samples) with previous tokens that are similar to the new token. The SPS then refines the new token by averaging it with the previous tokens. This improves the appearance of the new token. In another application, the SPS uses the previous tokens to produce a search result. In another application, the SPS uses the previous tokens to perform an auto-completion operation.

  • Patent number: 8797579
Abstract: A printer, scanner device and methods for using same are described herein. A printer device may include a dedicated input that, when actuated, generates and sends a request to a computer for known data or a predetermined print job, e.g., schedule information from a personal information management (PIM) application. A scanner device may include another dedicated input that, when actuated, automatically scans a document fed to the device by the user and sends the scanned image to IM (or other) software on a computer, bypassing the need to manipulate the scanned image using scanner software. The device may be used with printed metapaper, which includes a barcode or other indicia identifying the metapaper and corresponds to a stored template image of the metapaper. When the metapaper is rescanned, the scan can be compared to the stored template information to identify changes and synchronize the changes with the IM software.

  • Patent number: 8745489
Abstract: Embodiments described herein are based on the principle that shells execute commands as units of characters. Accordingly, embodiments herein provide for a sending side with enough intelligence to isolate each command, examine it, perform some levels of validation, and deliver a structured representation of the command to the remote processor before doing any network operations. More specifically, embodiments herein provided for a mechanism of identifying a command and encapsulating the command into a single message (e.g., a SOAP, HTTPS, or other type message), which is then sent to a remote shell for processing as an entire unit. Accordingly, embodiments herein treat the command as a single unit, rather than as a character-oriented transmission.
