  • Patent number: 11379114
Abstract: A method of operating a first data processing system having a screen for responding to a vector gesture performed on that screen is disclosed. The method includes estimating a direction and assuming an identity for the vector gesture prior to the vector gesture being completed. A command that depends on the estimated direction and assumed identity is executed, the command being a command that would be required to update a current state of the first data processing system if the assumed identity of the vector gesture is correct. The command is executed prior to the vector gesture being completed. The current state of the first data processing system is then updated based on the data generated by the command. After the vector gesture has been determined to have been completed, the first data processing system is updated to a state indicated by the completed vector gesture.

  • Patent number: 11048470
Abstract: A device predicts when a user will have difficulty seeing user interface elements displayed on a display due to bright lighting conditions. In response to predicting that a user will have difficulty seeing user interface elements displayed on the display due to bright lighting conditions, the device changes a display theme for the user interface elements to a visually improved display theme. Furthermore, the device audibly plays back, via a device speaker, a readout of the user interface elements displayed on the display. The readout is an audible reading or description of the user interface elements displayed on the display. The device also optionally communicates with an additional device (e.g., a smartwatch or other wearable devices) connected to the device to cause the additional devices to also audibly play back, via a speaker of the additional device, the readout of the user interface elements displayed on the display.

Abstract: Methods and system for enabling locally generated transition graphics interaction with virtualized host computer service includes receiving a control command issued by a user to control screen data currently being rendered at the display device, at a display device of a client device. The control command is transmitted to the host computer service for processing. The host computer service processes the control command and returns updated screen data to the client device. In response to the receipt of the updated screen data, the client device identifies a desired screen effect associated with the control command. The updated screen data received from the host computer service is packaged at the client device with data associated with the desired screen effect to generate a visual response at the client device. The packaged screen effect is returned to the display device for rendering, in response to the control command.

  • Patent number: 11001147
Abstract: The operating unit comprises an actuator, which mechanically excites an operating element. The actuator comprises a support strip made of a resilient material. Piezo elements, which are connected to the support strip in a shear-resistant manner, are located on both outer surfaces of the support strip. As a result of the alternate arrangement of the piezo elements, the support strip assumes an undulating form when moving out of its inactivated state. One side of the support strip is mechanically connected to the operating element and the other side is mechanically connected to a counterbalance. The support strip itself is mechanically fixed in the housing. In its inactivated state, the operating element and the counterbalance are at a different distance from one another than in the undulating activated state, wherein they move in opposite directions and thus lead to a compensation of dynamic forces acting on the housing.

Abstract: Methods and system pertaining to displaying vehicle data parameters (VDP) are described. A vehicle service tool (VST) with a display can receive vehicle data messages or signals from a vehicle to receive the VDP. Some of the VDP can be associated with a PID. The VST can display VDP thresholds and indicators when a received VDP has breached a VDP threshold. The VST can determine being changed from a landscape orientation to a portrait orientation or vice versa and responsively change the presentation of VDP graphs displayed by the display. The display can receive various inputs such as a drag-and-drop or pinch-and-expand input to alternatively change the presentation of the VDP graphs being displayed. Changing a VDP presentation of graphs can include resizing or repositioning one or more VDP graph windows including a VDP graph.
