Abstract: A set-top box or other receiving device may detect such channels that the EPG cursor visits frequently, visits for relatively long periods of time or that are frequently displayed on the screen in the electronic program guide (EPG), or otherwise frequently visited or viewed. The system determines that such channels are those that the user is likely to return to when browsing the EPG in the future and then adapts the EPG to present such channels on top of the EPG together with each other separately from the other full list of channels presented in the. This may be performed each time the EPG is opened. A customized EPG having the particular group of channels presented according a specific identified user's previous channel browsing activity may also be generated.

  • Patent number: 11567989
Abstract: Media unit retrieval methods, systems and computer program products are provided that allow a user to search for an item by iteratively presenting media units such as images representing items to the user and receiving user input consisting of selections of the presented media units (including possibly the empty selection). Features, or attributes, a user is interested in, for example semantic features, are inferred from the interaction and media units are retrieved for presentation based on similarity with user-selected media units, through sampling of a probability distribution describing the intent or interests, or combinations of approaches. Accordingly, the user-experience is akin to a conversation about what the user is looking for. Retrieval may be based on both selected and unselected media units and the selection may comprise making a selection with a single action. Further, a database of media units can capture similarity relationships for efficient media unit retrieval.

Abstract: Methods and systems are described for identifying and adapting the playback speed of content to be provided during an activity. The methods and systems receive an input including a start cue indicating a start of an activity and access an average duration and an intensity score for the activity. Then the system calculates an adjusted average runtime for the activity based on the average duration and the intensity score and identifies one or more content items, the one or more content items having a total runtime equivalent to the adjusted average runtime for the activity. The system adjusts the playback speed of the identified one or more content items such that the total runtime of playback of the one or more content items matches the average duration for the activity and provides the one or more content items for consumption.

Abstract: A system, method, and computer program product are provided for determining a duration of time required to render a web page or other content displayed by a native application running on a user device. One embodiment captures screenshots of the application's displayed output on a user device as video frames, and determines when the displayed output image content stabilizes. Another embodiment measures the number of service calls from a mobile client machine and the data requested and/or sent in response to such calls to determine native application performance. In another embodiment, a configuration file updates application executables and runs batch content rendering performance tests. Embodiments timestamp and store test results for subsequent visual depiction, evaluation, and analysis by developer teams and/or users. Performance variations due to changes to a native application or content may be routed to a particular application developer or content designer for possible correction and improvement.

Abstract: An auditory augmentation system includes a database with a multiplicity of audio sections and associated metadata for digital audio files. Each audio section is mapped to a contextual theme, each contextual theme being mapped to an audio section having an entry point and an exit point. The entry and exit points support seamless splice or fade transitions between different audio sections. A processing system couples to the database along with an input; the input is in the form of temporally-varying events data that defines a temporal input. The processing system resolves the temporal input into one or more of a plurality of categorized contextual themes, correlates the categorized contextual themes with metadata associated with selected audio sections relevant to the one or more categorized contextual themes, and splices or fades together selected audio sections, and generates, as an output, a media product in which transitions between audio sections are seamless.
