  • Patent number: 10134409
Abstract: In one aspect, the invention divides an audio signal into auditory events, each of which tends to be perceived as separate and distinct, by calculating the spectral content of successive time blocks of the audio signal, calculating the difference in spectral content between successive time blocks of the audio signal, and identifying an auditory event boundary as the boundary between successive time blocks when the difference in the spectral content between such successive time blocks exceeds a threshold. In another aspect, the invention generates a reduced-information representation of an audio signal by dividing an audio signal into auditory events, each of which tends to be perceived as separate and distinct, and formatting and storing information relating to the auditory events. Optionally, the invention may also assign a characteristic to one or more of the auditory events. Auditory events may be determined according to the first aspect of the invention or by another method.

  • Patent number: 10104513
Abstract: Among other things, generating a dynamic digital data file for transferring to a mobile communication device includes receiving from a user a phone number associated with a mobile communication device. Also, a user selected digital data file is received. Authorization to access the received digital data file is verified. When detected that the received digital data file is verified as an authorized file, the user is able to edit the received digital data file to generate mobile content. A data connection with the mobile communication device associated with the received phone number is also established. Further, one or more operational parameters of the mobile communication device based on the established data connection are determined. The generated mobile content is transcoded into a format compatible to the determined operational parameters, and the transcoded mobile content is delivered to the mobile communication device.

  • Patent number: 10091266
Abstract: A method and a system for rendering digital content across multiple client devices are provided. At least a portion of first digital content is rendered on a first client device. An identifier corresponding to the first digital content, which identifies a descriptor of the first digital content, and a first position in the first digital content are determined on the first client device. The identifier and the first position are transferred from the first client device to a second client device via a network accessible library. The descriptor is downloaded from the network accessible library to the second client device by using the identifier. At least a portion of ancillary digital content associated with the first digital content is rendered on the second client device by using the descriptor and the first position. Thus, rendering of the first content and the ancillary digital content may be synchronized across multiple devices.

  • Patent number: 10037713
Abstract: In various example embodiments, a system and method for providing additional content on a webpage are provided. In example embodiments, a server receives a trigger for a rule generation process. In response to the receiving of the trigger, the server initiates the rule generation process. The server receives a selection of an element on a webpage to which additional content is to be added without revising source code for the webpage. A user interface panel is displayed through which inputs to configure a content rule for the element and to configure the additional content to be added to the element are received. The server receives the inputs via the user interface panel, and generates, based on the inputs, a rule set that includes the content rule and the additional content. The rule set is stored to a rules database.

  • Patent number: 10014841
Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided to adjust audio file playback in terms of volume and/or compression. By example, a method separates an audio file into tracks, each attributable to a different instrument. The method also determines the instrument for which the audio signals are dominant or loudest and accesses settings for the volume preference of the audio signals attributable to each different instrument. The method modifies the setting for the volume preference of the audio signals attributable to the instrument that is dominant or loudest based on user input altering a volume at which the audio file is output without modification of the setting for the volume preference of the audio signals attributable to another instrument. The method also amplifies or attenuates audio signals based upon the modified setting.

  • Patent number: 9930089
Abstract: A system, method and computer-readable code for the management of digital media on a device with memory and storage restrictions. As with any device, memory and storage is limited. With the ultimate goal of providing a user with a hands-off literary experience involving multiple media types, it is necessary to automate the clean-up of unneeded content that has previously been transferred to the device. Utilizing bookmark information that describes various positions in one or more media streams, time information that describes the various media streams and related content used to integrate various types of content for each media stream, content and storage can be managed such that the user never has to interact directly with stored content beyond the controls provided with a basic media player. The user still experiences a completely automated and seamless literary experience regardless of the number of open media streams, bookmarks and various related content the user has.
