A registration capability is provided for enabling creation of a user account and association of information with the user account where the information is adapted for supporting automatic content tagging and management of tagged content. An object information management capability is provided for enabling access to object information which may be used when automatically tagging content. A tagged content access capability is provided for enabling access to an information structure by an end user viewing tagged content. A tagged content ownership management and remuneration capability is provided for enabling management of content ownership for tagged content of end users and for managing associated remuneration which may be provided to end user when tagged content is accessed.

Abstract: An image processing system in which an image forming device and a server device are connected via a network, the image forming device including an acquisition unit operable to acquire a maximum optional configuration that indicates all optional functions that can be implemented on another image forming device; a creation unit operable to create an external use screen, which is a customized screen for display on an operation panel of the other image forming device, in accordance with the maximum optional configuration; and a transmission unit operable to transmit external setting information corresponding to the external use screen to the server device, and the server device including a customized screen storage unit that stores the external setting information. With this structure, a customized screen for use on the other image forming device can be created to include functions not implemented on the image forming device.

Abstract: A method for accessing historic information during an exploration and production (E&P) tool sessions of a field having a subterranean formation. The method includes identifying an E&P tool configured to perform a plurality of E&P tool sessions based on a subterranean formation field data set, receiving an annotation input from a first user while the first user is performing a task using one of a plurality of windows that are created during at least a first one of the plurality of E&P tool sessions, wherein the task is performed based on the subterranean formation field data set, and generating, by a computer processor and in response to the annotation input, a pinned annotation that is pinned to the one of the plurality of windows, wherein the task performed based on the subterranean formation field data set is facilitated using the pinned annotation.

Abstract: The effectiveness of targeted content delivery at a multi-user interface can be directly linked to a proper targeting of users. A way of improving targeted content delivery at a multi-user interface can be to determine which users should be targeted based on one or more criteria. The present technology provides various methodologies for selecting one or more users associated with a multi-user interface to receive targeted content. Such users can be selected based on criteria associated with a ranking or priority of the users, criteria associated with an analysis of their interactions with the multi-user interface, criteria based on their most common characteristics, or any combination thereof. The user characteristics associated with such identified used can then be utilized to determine which content should be delivered to the multi-user interface.

Abstract: Information about a job is left correctly on a user-by-user basis while minimizing a work load on a user. In a method for controlling a job processing system, a user logs in to a job processing apparatus having an operation unit and a job processing unit and causes the job processing unit to execute a job using the operation unit. The method includes, permitting, in a state in which a first user has been logged in to the job processing apparatus, a second user to log into the job processing apparatus, storing information about a job as information about the second user in a storage unit, in the case where the second user logs in to the job processing apparatus in the state in which a first user has been logged in to the job processing apparatus, and the second user issues an instruction to the job processing unit to execute the job using the operation unit.

Abstract: Described herein are systems and methods for enabling an unlimited multi-user desktop environment. In accordance with an embodiment the system includes a computing device hosting the desktop. Each user connects to the desktop through the same or different computing devices. Each user will in their client-area render a section of the unlimited multi-user desktop. The section can be the same or different for all users. An embodiment will allow compatible objects to render the same content at different content positions for each connected user. For example a user can scroll on a shared webpage without impacting the scroll position for other users looking at the same window of the same webpage. Additional embodiments are also described herein.

Abstract: Described herein are systems and methods for enabling an unlimited multi-user desktop environment. In accordance with an embodiment, the system includes a computing device hosting the desktop. Each user connects to the desktop through the same or different computing devices. Each user will, in their client-area, render a section of the unlimited sized multi-user desktop. The section can be the same or different for all users. In accordance with an embodiment, compatible objects can be allowed to render the same content at different content positions for each connected user. For example, a user can scroll on a shared webpage without impacting the scroll position for other users looking at the same window of the same webpage. Additional embodiments are also described herein.

Abstract: An interaction management module (IMM) is described for allowing users to engage an interactive surface in a collaborative environment using various input devices, such as keyboard-type devices and mouse-type devices. The IMM displays digital objects on the interactive surface that are associated with the devices in various ways. The digital objects can include input display interfaces, cursors, soft-key input mechanisms, and so on. Further, the IMM provides a mechanism for establishing a frame of reference for governing the placement of each cursor on the interactive surface. Further, the IMM provides a mechanism for allowing users to make a digital copy of a physical article placed on the interactive surface. The IMM also provides a mechanism which duplicates actions taken on the digital copy with respect to the physical article, and vice versa.

Abstract: A user interface apparatus and method of using a touch screen are provided. The apparatus includes a touch screen division unit for dividing a screen area of the touch screen into zones, an allocation unit for allocating a user interface unit to each of the zones and a plurality of user interface units for sensing job commands input through the zones according to the allocation result of the allocation unit, wherein an operation corresponding to each of the sensed job commands is performed. Accordingly, since a plurality of users can simultaneously use an image-forming device by dividing the screen area of the touch screen into two or more zones, job processing time can be reduced, and a usage rate of a high specification image-forming device can be increased.

The user profiles identify the first user differently. Each user profile is associated with one or more data fields identifying the first user. The data fields may include any or all of a name, a nickname, a login name, and an avatar. A request from a second user of the synchronous conferencing system to communicate with the first user is received. The request includes an identification of the second user. One of the user profiles is selected based on the identification of the second user. The data fields associated with the selected user profile are transmitted to the second user.

The system includes memory for storing static content having at least one document element common to a first and second version of a document, multi-dimensional content having at least one customized document element for each document version to be inserted into a variable area within the first and second versions of the document, and multi-dimensional parameters defining static areas, variable areas, and customized document elements for each document version. Abstract: Physical controls on a physical controller device (PCD) are dynamically mapped to application controls for an application being executed on a computer having a touch-sensitive display surface. The computer identifies a PCD which has been placed by a user on the display surface and displays a mapping aura for the PCD. When the user touches an activate direct-touch button displayed within the mapping aura, the computer activates a mapping procedure for the PCD and displays a highlighted direct-touch button over each application control which is available to be mapped to the physical controls on the PCD. When the user selects a particular application control which is available to be mapped by touching the highlighted button residing over the control, the computer creates a dynamic mapping between the selected application control and a user-selected physical control on the PCD.

Abstract: Technology is provided for controlling one or more electronic devices networked in a multimedia system using a natural user interface. Some examples of devices in the multimedia system are audio and visual devices for outputting multimedia content to a user like a television, a video player, a stereo, speakers, a music player, and a multimedia console computing system. A computing environment is communicatively coupled to a device for capturing data of a physical action, like a sound input or gesture, from a user which represents a command. Software executing in the environment determines for which device a user command is applicable and sends the command to the device. In one embodiment, the computing environment communicates commands to one or more devices using a Consumer Electronics Channel (CEC) of an HDMI connection.

The user interface can also include a scrolling mechanism. That is, software of the surface based computing device can permit software objects appearing within a display of a surface based computing device to be passed among users positioned about the surface based computing device. The surface based computing device can also include software maintaining linkages between passed software objects and return positions defined for each of the passed software objects. Further software can be configured to automatically return at least one of the passed software objects from a current position on the display to an associated return position responsive to an occurrence of a return object event relating to that passed software object. Abstract: Generation and display of a dynamically orientable graphical user interface (GUI) is described. The GUI can include user input controls that are configured to receive user input. In one exemplary embodiment, the GUI is displayed as a band around a perimeter of a horizontally oriented interactive display surface. The user input controls can be made to reorient in response to an application that provides control, or a user can selectively cause the GUI to move relative to the interactive display surface to enable the user to gain access to a specific that was previously disposed at a different point. The user input can be received directly from the orientable GUI in the form of finger movement detected by the interactive display surface and the reorientation of the GUI can be controlled according to the laws of physics, based on the user input.

Input from a user is received for creating different types of items for viewing in the blog. Items for viewing on the blog are selected from among the created items, and the selected items are displayed on the blog for viewing by the selected audiences. An apparatus includes memory coupled to switching logic and application program managing logic. The switching logic is configured to selectively switch console control of a computing device between at least two user kernel sessions that are maintained in the memory. The application program managing logic is configured to selectively control at least one application program that is operatively configured within at least one of the user kernel sessions. For example, the application program managing logic can be configured to stop the operation, restart certain application programs, notify application programs about switching events, and/or adjust the playback of audio and/or video signals associated certain application programs.

Abstract: Multi-user multi-input desktop workspaces and applications are described. In one aspect, a single computing device presents multiple workspaces on a desktop area. The desktop area is designed for multiple users to provide in parallel inputs. Each workspace is configured for use by a particular set of users. Responsive to user direction, user access restrictions to a particular workspace of the multiple workspaces is suspended to allow a new user to interface within context of a particular workspace.

A global data store is synchronized with real-time communication data, such as presence, status, unread messages, and unread notifications, from each application/provider. Real-time communication data for contacts dynamically determined to be recent contacts is retrieved from the data store, based on properties such as a most recent communication time, a communication count, and the like. Real-time communication data corresponding to contacts identified as pinned contacts for which display of real-time communication data is preferred, also may be retrieved. A user interface is generated for displaying the one or more recent and/or pinned contacts, which may vary in size based on the number of contacts identified as pinned contacts, from which a contact may be selected for real-time conversation or e-mail.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention are generally directed to a system and method for a remote Graphical User Interface (GUI). In an embodiment, a local computing system requests access to a remote computing system. In response, the remote computing system provides connection information to identify an appropriate GUI for accessing the remote computing system. The local computing system forwards the connection information to another local computing system to obtain the identified GUI. In one embodiment, the local computing system automatically downloads the GUI and accesses the remote computing system with the GUI.
