  • Patent number: 10015651
Abstract: A device switching technique that can be used when a user switches from a first cell phone to a second cell phone is described, wherein a phone provider detects an event indicating that a device switch is imminent and sets up temporary storage associated with a first device. At the user's convenience, the user performs a data transfer process to transfer a portion of user data from the first device to the temporary storage. When the user receives the second device, such as in a phone store, remaining user data is transferred from the first device to the second device, thereby decreasing the amount of time necessary to set up the second device.

Abstract: A request is sent from a client device to a host device hosting an application capable of providing a split window view of content. Generation of a split window associated with execution of the application on the host device may include at least two split windows. Information regarding the split windows may be sent from the host device to the client device over the communication network. The client device may then use information regarding a first split window to generate an image display corresponding to the first split window. In addition, the client device may process the information regarding a second split window to stitch an image display corresponding to the second split window to the image display corresponding to the first split window. As such, upon scrolling of the display of the client device, the image display corresponding to the second split window may be displayed.

  • Patent number: 9251189
Abstract: Example embodiments provide various techniques for updating an old data structure configured to store metadata associated with database systems. In this method, a temporary data structure is created. Additionally, a new data structure representing an update of the old data structure is created. The metadata from the old data structure are copied to the temporary data structure, and the temporary data structure is transformed to match the new data structure. The metadata from the transformed temporary data structure are copied to the new data structure. The transformation of the temporary data structure instead of the old data structure may enable an application that is not being updated to be operational and to access the old data structure during the update. After the metadata is copied to the new data structure, a new version of the application is then able to access the new data structure.

  • Patent number: 9223589
Abstract: A declarative animation system allows a designer to declaratively specify transitory behavior of a user interface or other visual display by recognizing changes in an underlying data model that spans visual elements. A visual display is typically comprised of one or more visual elements, as well as an underlying data model. Although animating within a particular visual element is typically straightforward, moving items across visual elements typically involves sophisticated programming logic. However, using the declarative animation system, visual elements can be associated with an underlying data model in a manner that allows the visual display layer to recognize and respond to changes in the underlying data model. This association can also be leveraged to allow automatically generated animation between visual elements without the addition of custom programmatic code.
