Abstract: In a method for providing a menu display, in response to a menu item selection, the method may determine whether a menu map selection event or a cascading menu selection has occurred, may display a plurality of menus including those that are of a hierarchical level below and not immediately following the hierarchical level of the menu item upon a condition that the menu map selection event occurred, and may display a plurality of menus including a submenu of the menu item that is of an hierarchical level immediately below and not further below that of the menu item if the cascading menu selection has occurred.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure provide systems and methods for organizing session applications. Briefly described, in architecture, one embodiment of the system, among others, includes logic configured to display a user interface for initiating a command to launch a business application on a computer display of a user; logic configured to associate a launched business application with a user-session; logic configured to display a plurality of the business applications of an active session on the computer display; a first user interface control for allowing a user to initiate a command for organizing the displayed applications of the active session in a predetermined alignment across the computer display; and logic configured to arrange the displayed application of the active session after receiving the command from the user. Abstract: The present invention provides a three-dimensional user interface for a computer system that allows a user to combine and store a group of windows as a task. The image of each task can be positioned within a three-dimensional environment such that the user may utilize spatial memory in order remember where a particular task is located.

Abstract: In one or more embodiments, a cascading item and action browser enables items and associated actions to be displayed. In at least some embodiments, items are presented in a column and can be selected by a user. Responsive to selecting a particular item or items, actions that can be performed on or relative to a selected item or items can be presented in a second adjacent column. From here, users can select one or more actions that can be performed on items presented in the first-mentioned column. Results of the action or actions being performed, at least some of which can include additional items, can then be presented in a next-adjacent column. Navigation through the items and actions displayed in their respective columns can then continue in a cascaded fashion.

Abstract: A method, system and computer-usable medium are disclosed for managing the spatial coordinates and visual attributes of objects within a user interface (UI). A Web UI ruler is executed within a UI comprising a plurality of objects. A first object and second object are selected. The Web UI Ruler then collects the spatial coordinate and visual attribute values for the first and second object and their relationship values are determined. The spatial coordinate and visual attribute values for the first and second objects, along with their corresponding relationship values, are modified and the modifications are applied to the target objects. The values are then stored in the Web UI ruler. These values can then be subsequently applied to one or more target objects. Alternatively, the stored values are exported as a cascading style sheet (CSS) class, which can then likewise be subsequently applied to one or more target objects.

Abstract: In a system and method for displaying hierarchically related data, a processor may display in a single display window of a display device respective representations of a plurality of hierarchically related data records in accordance with the hierarchical relationship, where each of at least two of the representations includes a respective table including a plurality of data columns, and where the display of some of the columns of the tables is in accordance with display settings set based on a determination that columns of different tables correspond to each other for alignment.

Abstract: A method for displaying a plurality of windows on a display screen is described. The method includes steps of associating a first window with at least one second window, the at least one second window being independent of and external to the first window, and combining the first window and the at least one second window into a common window on a display screen, the first window and the at least one second window being configured to share a common window frame. An indicator may appear on the display as a target region when a user desires to associate the first and the second windows. Subsequent operations performed on the common window are performed automatically on any underlying window. For example, when a user chooses to save the contents of the common window, the contents of all of the windows of the common window may be saved.

Abstract: A system and related techniques to collect and manage a set of incoming message notification objects, such as instant message notifications, email notifications, download notifications, transaction notifications and others and present those objects to the user with an icon, tile or other representation on a dynamically scaled timeline. According to embodiments, the dynamically scaled timeline may present the most recently received object farthest to the right on a notifications bar or facility and slide objects to the left to represent passage of time as those objects age. Instead of presenting those objects on a linear scale, according to the invention, the time intervals in which objects may be presented may be scaled to cause the oldest message objects to be presented on a relatively compressed dimension. The most recently received messages may be presented on wider intervals, to permit the user to perceive differences in arrival of items more clearly.

Abstract: The presentation of information in HTML files is desirably en hanced by the use of one or more separate scripting Javascript™ files, referenced from the HTML file, which uses information presented as variables in the HTML file. In this manner, a high degree of formatting flexibility can be achieved, while reducing the likelihood of errors in the HTML pages, improving ease of site maintenance, and standardising the “look and feel” of the site. Improvements in the network bandwidth required to browse sites organised in this manner can also be achieved in favourable instances.

Abstract: A system, method and program product for presenting and selecting an active region of a physical document page. A transparent electro-luminescent tablet or touch sensitive plate positioned over the physical document page is coupled and identified to the workstation. The workstation stores information defining an active region for the physical document page and a hyperlink to a web page. The workstation directs the tablet or plate to display the active region over the physical document page. A user touches a point within the active region. In response, the tablet or plate conveys the touch point to the workstation which displays on a computer screen the hyperlink. The active region can be identified by an outline that encompasses the active region and can encompass another such active region, so that touching a point within the inner active region elicits display of hyperlinks or documents related to both active regions.

Abstract: The thumbnail icons representing content items stored in a Memory Stick are displayed as aligned in a linear manner. The sequence of the alignment of the thumbnail icons follows the sequence of the sort icons displayed in the control area. By rotating the jog dial, the user can scroll the thumbnail icons displayed in the view area. Rotating the jog dial, the user displays the thumbnail icon representing a desired content item as a selected thumbnail icon (at the center) and then presses the jog dial. Consequently, the content item represented by the selected thumbnail icon is reproduced.

In one aspect the method includes displaying routine and non-routine information about the operational aspects of a clinical analyzer so that non-routine operational information screens is accessible only by qualified technicians.

Abstract: The system and method of the present invention provides a user interface for providing peripheral awareness of information to a user. The information to be provided is either determined automatically, or specified by the user. Once the information to be provided is determined or specified, it is automatically tracked or watched via at least one conventional communications interface. Current information is then automatically dynamically provided in an interactive peripheral display which minimizes any potential distraction to the user. Determining or specifying, tracking or watching, and providing the information is accomplished using at least one customizable dynamic encapsulated object, a “ticket,” that when paired with a “viewer,” provides peripheral awareness of information to the user. Further, in one embodiment, the tickets are sharable among users, and may be copied, cut, pasted, saved, transmitted, dragged and dropped from web pages, etc., like any other electronic file using conventional techniques.

Abstract: A data displaying method includes, when a user draws up character messages to be transmitted, the character messages to be transmitted are displayed on one display window. If a window division function is selected, after determining what kind of function is selected, the display window into two display windows, and then the character messages being drawn up are displayed on one of the two divided display windows and data corresponding to the selected function is displayed on the other display window. As a result, the user can carry out another telephone function without losing the character messages being drawn up while drawing up the character messages to be transmitted. Also, the user can carry out smooth communications using character messages.

Abstract: A method, system, and computer-readable medium for allowing easier access to the Web pages of a Web site is provided. A requested Web page that includes a menu is downloaded along with a first executable component comprising display instructions assigned the Web site. A second executable component is also downloaded with the Web page for creating a data structure in memory having a tree-like structure and including the titles of the Web site's Web pages and links to the titled Web pages. A portion of a cascading menu is generated based on the executable component and the data structure when a corresponding portion of the menu is selected. The executable components are automatically updated, if it is determined that more current versions exist.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method and system of maintaining and controlling the ordering and placement for display of individual GUI windows into groups or “decks” similar to a deck of playing cards on a desktop area of a computer display. The decks comprise collections of cascaded windows. The method and system control the decks such that the title bars of all windows of the deck are always simultaneously visible to the user no matter which window is selected as the active window. The act of moving the current top window back into a new position in the deck is defined as “shuffling” the windows. The method and system further provide auto-deck processes that automatically cascade defined applications, such as Internet Explorer windows, into a deck. In addition, the method and system may also include user-definable options as to the order of the shuffle, and includes the ability to drag the active window out of the deck and to drag any window into the deck.

Abstract: Systems and methods for returning windows to an original location are described. When springing already open windows to a new location on a display space, it is desired to return that window to its original location for certain situations. A list is provided when the springing operation is initialized which captures information used to return the sprung window. According to exemplary embodiments, the relocation of various windows is tracked to ensure that each window is returned to an original location.
