Patent number: 8751950Abstract: A software program for use in designing interior and exterior spaces receives user input that is associated with one or more attributes. Subsequent user input, having other attributes, is resolved in light of the first input attributes to create a real-world depiction of design choices in real-time. For example, design choices that conflict with prior design choices are resolved (or modified as necessary) to ensure that each of the prior and present user input choices are represented in an appropriate way. The resolution by the design software is also used to create an accurate parts (and/or price) list so that when the user has completed the design of an exterior or interior space, the design can be submitted directly as an order to be fulfilled. Generally, continual resolution ensures that the user's design intent is captured in an accurate and efficient way in a user interface.Type: GrantFiled: August 16, 2005Date of Patent: June 10, 2014Assignee: Ice Edge Business Solutions Ltd.Inventor: Barrie Arnold Loberg

Patent number: 8683377Abstract: Embodiments herein include a scroll manager that provides a mechanism for scrolling that includes automatic zooming or resizing during a scrolling operation. In response to receiving a scroll input, the scroll manager automatically reduces a graphical display size of electronic content to a second graphical display size while simultaneously moving the electronic content across a display area in a given direction. An initial layout of the electronic content is maintained during scrolling operations. By using less vertical space a given page or document containing the content does not need to travel as far vertically on the display screen to display more content. Because the display difference is a shorter linear display distance, this scrolling functionality provides a finer-grained control when scrolling more electronic content. Location during scrolling operations can be identified by visual context, thereby improving scroll navigation efficiency and control.Type: GrantFiled: May 12, 2010Date of Patent: March 25, 2014Assignee: Adobe Systems IncorporatedInventors: Dave Zuverink, Scott Amaya

Patent number: 8671361Abstract: A portable electronic device, computer program product, and method of presenting image information on a display with combined cropping and rotation selection and auto-resizing of cropped portion of the displayed image. A processor accepts a selection of a portion of a displayed image by creating and displaying a selection rectangle frame over the displayed image based on detecting a first user gesture in connection with the displayed image. The processor determines a user request for rotation of the displayed selection rectangle frame based on detecting a second user gesture. The processor then rotates the selection rectangle frame on the displayed image and resizes the selection rectangle frame while maintaining it within the outer boundaries of the displayed image and while contemporaneously expanding the selection rectangle frame up to an original size of the selection rectangle frame created and displayed over the displayed image.Type: GrantFiled: October 26, 2012Date of Patent: March 11, 2014Assignee: BlackBerry LimitedInventors: Maria Christina Nathalie Freyhult, Nils Johan Petter Montan, Hans Rikard Samvik

Patent number: 8656306Abstract: An image displaying apparatus for a computer selectively executing a full-screen display or a frame display on a monitor screen is disclosed. The apparatus includes a main screen generating unit generating a predetermined main screen, a full-screen displaying unit displaying the main screen in a full-screen display, a mouse operation determining unit detecting a moving operation of the mouse to determine whether or not the moving operation is a predetermined first movement, a full-screen display detecting unit detecting whether or not the main screen is in the full-screen display, and a composite displaying unit displaying a predetermined sub-screen on the screen and the main screen downscaled so that the whole main screen is displayed on the remaining range of the screen when the mouse operation determining unit determines, during the full-screen display, that the moving operation is the first movement.Type: GrantFiled: November 21, 2006Date of Patent: February 18, 2014Assignee: Buffalo Inc.Inventors: Yoshikazu Yamagishi, Masato Matsumura

Publication number: 20140040819Abstract: Techniques for sizing, positioning and generally managing the display of windows are described herein. Consistent with some embodiments, a group of windows are assigned a position to form an ordered list, or sequence, of windows. The windows are then positioned and sized, based at least in part on their position in the sequence, and presented in accordance with a window layout that specifies that the first window in the sequence is to be positioned prominently as a primary window. Upon detecting a user-input event, the windows are reordered according to an ordering rule, and then presented again in the window layout, sized and placed in accordance with their position in the reordered sequence.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 9, 2011Publication date: February 6, 2014Applicant: Adobe Systems IncorporatedInventor: Christopher J. Patent number: 8640047Abstract: This document describes techniques and apparatuses for asynchronous handling of a user interface manipulation. These techniques handle a user interface manipulation with two or more asynchronous processes. One asynchronous process, for example, may determine a position responsive to the user interface manipulation while another asynchronous process determines the pixels to render. By so doing, these techniques enable a quick and/or consistent response to a user interface manipulation.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 2011Date of Patent: January 28, 2014Assignee: Micorsoft CorporationInventors: Laurent Mouton, Nicolas J. Patent number: 8627228Abstract: A graphical user interface generation system offers a management module that displays GUI elements and a visual indicator in an editing window. The visual indicator is movable in the editing window, which has at least two panels and a divider between the panels. A configuration history of the divider including at least one prior location of the divider in the editing window is memorized. An optimization function is defined for determining a new configuration of the divider. The function is invoked responsively to the configuration history of the divider to determine the new configuration of the divider, and a current configuration of the divider is automatically reset on the display to the new configuration of the divider within the editing window.Type: GrantFiled: November 29, 2011Date of Patent: January 7, 2014Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Nadav Har'El Yosef, Yuri Rabinovich, Haggai Roitman

Patent number: 8627227Abstract: A computing device includes an immersive environment module for facilitating simultaneous display of a plurality of applications on a display device without relying on system chrome. At least a first of the applications is displayed in a primary region of the display. The computing device also includes a UI management component for enabling a user selection of an application for simultaneous display on the display device with at least one other application. Processing logic is configured to determine a size in at least one direction of content of a user-selected application as it is displayed on a non-primary region of the display device simultaneous with display of content of the first application on the primary region of the display device. The determination is based at least in part on one or more pre-defined size requirements specified by the selected application.Type: GrantFiled: October 19, 2012Date of Patent: January 7, 2014Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: David A.
