  • Patent number: 8769438
Abstract: The present invention discloses an air fan turbine positioned horizontally or vertically in close proximity to the exhaust fan system of air handler systems. These turbine units catch the exhausted air flow from the exhaust ports of these air handler units to drive the turbine blades which are attached to a generator. As the propellor blades spin, they generate electricity. Thus, the man made air flow known as exhaust from the air handler systems is used to produce electricity. This invention not only uses man made air flow, but also repositions the air turbine 90° from a horizontal position to a vertical position to receive wind air from the atmosphere. When the air handler unit is turned off, a signal is sent to mechanically move the air turbine to the vertical position to redirect itself to then catch natural wind airflow on both roof top and ground mounted units.

Abstract: Embodiments relate to enabling wrap-around of a pannable surface to allow a user to perceive a logical break and to allow some user control over how/when a wrap-around occurs. When a user pans to an edge of a pannable surface (“near” edge), the panning, in some embodiments, is automatically halted or impeded. The user can over-pan the “near” edge, and if a condition is met, then the “distant” edge pans into view, thus effectuating a wrap-around. The condition may be, for example, a threshold distance, speed, inertia, etc. Some embodiments provide a hint or visual “peek” of the “distant” edge as the “near” edge is being over-panned. Some embodiments snap the “near” edge back if the over-pan is ended before the condition is met. The condition may be checked repeatedly during over-panning or it may be checked when the over-pan is terminated by the user.

Abstract: The invention relates to a computer-implemented graphical user interface (6) comprising a work area and multiple widgets (W13, W13a, W13b, W13c) that are arranged on the work area such that said widgets are visible to the user. Each output widget (W13) comprises one or more content windows (FI3) with data elements. The widgets (W13, W13a, W13b, W13c) and the content windows (FI3) are coupled such that a content window (FI3) and/or data elements that are selected in said window can be moved by the user from an output widget (WI3) in which said content window and/or data elements are arranged into one of multiple possible target widgets (WI3a, W13b, W13c) that are visible to the user for processing.

Abstract: A system and method for an event driven virtual workspace are described. According to one example method, a trader can define a plurality of windows to be associated with a virtual workspace. Also, the trader could define one or more triggering events, the combination of which may be used to activate the virtual workspace. In such an embodiment, when the system detects the one or more triggers, the system can attempt to activate the virtual workspace. According to the example method, the trader may place a number of limiting conditions before any states of the currently displayed windows are modified such that the triggered virtual workspace could be displayed. If no limiting conditions are detected, the system can display the triggered virtual workspace.

Abstract: A method for positioning a window on a user's display may include providing, in a window-based computing environment, an image representing a display area of a user's computer screen. This image may be divided into a plurality of regions. Each region may represent an area within the display area. The method may further include enabling a user to select a region from the plurality of regions, such as, for example, with a mouse click, keystroke, keystroke combination, or the like. The method may then include automatically moving a window, such as the active window, in the window-based computing environment to the area represented by the region.

Abstract: A two-dimensional canvas onto which heterogenic objects of various types may be arranged side-by-side. Each type of object has an associated set of control(s), the control(s) at least partially differing from one type to the next. The two-dimensional canvas is fixed in one dimension, but extensible in a second dimension. The canvas may be displayed in miniaturized for with a view box superimposed upon the canvas. As the view box is moved over the miniaturized canvas, the enlarged editable portion of the corresponding canvas is displayed in an edit view. The canvas may also display clusters of objects that are arranged in dashboards. In that case, the display might include a dashboard review area that allows a user to select the appropriate dashboard to display.

  • Patent number: 8464176
Abstract: Aspects of the present invention are directed to the stacking of visual items, and their subsequent expansion, or unstacking. Upon selection of a stack, that stack expands into the individual visual items making up that stack. Further aspects of the present invention are directed to expanding a stack in different ways depending upon the circumstances. Further aspects of the present invention are directed to providing a hot area associated with, and potentially disposed around, a stack. Selection by the user of the hot area results in selection of the associated stack. The stack may itself be considered a single item that is itself selectable. After the stack is expanded, then the individual visual items making up the original stack are each individually selectable. However, when stacked, the individual items may not be selectable except as a complete stack.
