Publication number: 20110225542Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for window sharing with occlusion removal. In an embodiment, the techniques begin with a blank composition image, to which shared windows are added. For each window of a desktop from which at least one window is shared, traversing the windows from greatest z-depth to least z-depth, the window is processed based on whether it is shared and is occluded. Shared windows are copied to the composition image. Where a part of a shared window is occluded and cannot be retrieved, an indication of this occlusion is added to the composition image. When the windows have been processed, the composition image is encoded and sent to a client computer where it is displayed to produce the window sharing between computers.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 9, 2010Publication date: September 15, 2011Applicant: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Wilhelm R. Patent number: 7969439Abstract: A method for converting graphic elements containing sparse graphs into graphic layers is described, comprising the steps of: correspondingly mapping respective sparse graphs to respective sparse graphic layers, and projecting sequentially from top to bottom the regular graphs between the sparse graphs into a projection plane to form a regular graphic composition layer. Also described is a method for fast flicker-free displaying overlapped sparse graphs with optional shape, comprising: converting graphic element containing sparse graphs to be displayed into graphic layers; deciding whether to plot or erase the sparse graph to be displayed, and, when the sparse graph is decided to be erased, setting various points on the corresponding sparse graph to be transparent; and completing the plotting of points of the sparse graph point by point based on the shape of the sparse graph to be displayed. Apparatuses corresponding to the above methods are also described.Type: GrantFiled: November 28, 2007Date of Patent: June 28, 2011Assignee: Shenzhen Mindray Bio-Medical Electronics Co., Ltd.Inventors: Shengyao Mao, Kefeng Liao

Patent number: 7895528Abstract: A system and method for reversing a windows close action is provided. The system retains data corresponding to a window after the window is closed for some period of time. The parameters by which the closed window data is retained is user-configurable. When a window is closed, data corresponding to the closed window is not reclaimed by the operating system. Instead, the operating system notes that the window is no longer being managed by the operating system so that no new messages, or signals, are sent to or from the closed window. In addition, the visual aspects of the closed window are removed from the user's display so that, from the user's perspective, the closed window appears to have been closed as in a traditional GUI operating system. The system further reclaims memory from inactive windows according to user-configurable parameters.Type: GrantFiled: August 5, 2004Date of Patent: February 22, 2011Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Susann Marie Keohane, Gerald Francis McBrearty, Shawn Patrick Mullen, Jessica Kelley Murillo, Johnny Meng-Han Shieh

Patent number: 7865839Abstract: One implementation provides monitoring a user's activity within a first window that is visible to the user in a graphical user interface (GUI), receiving notification of an incoming message intended for the user, and, upon receipt, opening a second window that is visible to the user in the GUI, the second window being distinct from any other window currently open in the GUI. When a predetermined condition is satisfied based upon the user's activity being monitored in the first window, the implementation further provides deactivating the first window in the GUI and activating the second window to provide the user with notification of the incoming message.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 2004Date of Patent: January 4, 2011Assignee: AOL Inc.Inventors: Brian Dean Heikes, James A. Publication number: 20100251168Abstract: A method is designed for controlling windows of a mixer device including a processing unit, an operating panel, and a touch panel provided on the operating panel, the touch panel functioning as both a display part for displaying windows and an input part for inputting instructions. The method is performed by the processing unit as follows. First, a determining step determines whether or not any window has already been displayed on the touch panel when an instruction to display a new window is made. Then, a first displaying step displays the new window when no window has already been displayed, and otherwise displays, when a window has already been displayed, the new window at foreground while displaying at least a title bar of a window that has already been displayed. Further, a second displaying step displays a close button only on a foreground window among windows displayed on the touch panel and deactivates display of a close button for each window behind the foreground window.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 24, 2010Publication date: September 30, 2010Applicant: YAMAHA CORPORATIONInventors: Hiroaki FUJITA, Kotaro TERADA

Patent number: 7770129Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media that include computer-executable instructions stored thereon for displaying electronic documents keep track of portions of an electronic document that have appeared in a user interface window at some point in time (i.e., the portions that have been actually viewed by the user). These portions of the electronic document that have actually been viewed are designated the “viewable document section” of the electronic document. In some examples, scrolls bars and/or other electronic document view shifting elements become available to the user only if the electronic document includes a viewable document section that does not appear in the user interface window, and these scroll bars and/or other view shifting elements may be limited based on the content of the viewable document section (not the entire electronic document).Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 2006Date of Patent: August 3, 2010Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Eric Fox, Hyun-Suk Kim

Patent number: 7412664Abstract: A method for returning focus to a user interface window is disclosed. Information relating to each user interface window existing within a computer operating system is stored in a working database that is different from real-time user interface window information maintained by the computer operating system. A top user interface window is determined at a display coordinate selected by, for example, a digitizing pen. Focus is returned to a last user interface window having focus when the top user interface window is a system user interface window. An informational context is determined for the top window, and data entered into the top window is recognized based on the informational context of the top window based on information stored in the working database.Type: GrantFiled: September 17, 2003Date of Patent: August 12, 2008Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventor: Luis Huapaya

Patent number: 7340687Abstract: The present invention provides a device and a method for displaying appropriately on the display area for each processing unit such as an application according to the applied equipment. The CPU 12 processes display area acquisition requests from a plurality of processing units R1-Rn according to a display management program. The display management program decides whether use of the display area is allowed to each processing unit, considering the relationship of the plurality of display areas requested from each processing unit R1-Rn. Each processing unit R1-Rn executes display processing for the display area for which use is allowed. In this way, whether use is allowed is notified from the display management program to each processing unit R1-Rn after each processing unit R1-Rn sends the display area acquisition request. As a consequence, display in a plurality of areas by each processing unit R1-Rn can be controlled appropriately.Type: GrantFiled: January 2, 2004Date of Patent: March 4, 2008Assignee: Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.Inventors: Takuya Sekiguchi, Taketo Yoshii, Kouichi Yasutake, Kazuo Okamura

Patent number: 7337401Abstract: A composite user interface element can be assembled from plural sub-elements. A simplified view of the representation of the user interface element can be provided wherein the composited user interface element appears to be a single element. When defined, various nodes for representing the user interface can be designated as selectively exposable. Such selectively exposable nodes can be ignored when performing operations via the simplified view. Accordingly, programmers can write code that need not take the complexity of the composite user interface element into account. Property determination can be done in light of the selectively exposable nodes. A simplified view can support nested user interface elements having respective selectively exposable nodes.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 2002Date of Patent: February 26, 2008Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Peter Francis Ostertag, Mark James Finocchio, Michael Edward Dulac Winser, Benjamin Franklin Wang Jen-Shong Carter, Nicholas Kramer, Samuel Watkins Bent, Namita Gupta
